The Arthurian legends wax and wane through the years and 2024 is shaping up to be a year of revival. Specifically, on Tuesday, Lev Grossman’s new novel The Bright Sword, will tell of the days after Camelot fell. It follows the May release of this charming and witty graphic novel, also set in the years after Arthur.

The legend has morphed and changed and been retconned since the first stories were set in print. Some know the tales first from Disney’s 1963 Sword in the Stone and Theodore White’s Once and Future King. Others know it from the BBC young adult series Merlin or, more likely, Monty Python and the Holy Grail or its Broadway adaptation Spamalot. As a result, conflicting details have emerged giving contemporary writers license to be freewheeling with the various sources of material.

Loosely based on the Arthurian Legends, the BBC One series follows the story of a young Merlin as he heads to Camelot to live with the court physician Gaius. Merlin has to hide the fact that he is a warlock because King Uther Pendragon outlawed magic in the Kingdom twenty years ago.

Emily Carey is interviewed for Netflix’s coming of age drama Geek Girl. Carey stars as Harriet. The British Broadcasting Corporation’s (BBC) commercial arm BBC Studios is buying out peer broadcaster ITV’s stake in their streaming-focused joint venture Britbox International, the companies confirmed on Friday.

The announcement was made in a regulatory filing that affirmed BBC Studios will spend £225 million (around $321 million) to acquire ITV’s 50 percent stake in Britbox, giving BBC Studios full control of the streaming service.

As part of the deal, BritBox International CEO Reemah Sakaan will leave the company in the near future, with a new executive leadership team expected to be announced by the BBC in the coming days. She will remain with Britbox through the transitional period, the BBC said.

The deal values Britbox International at just north of £500 million (around $631 million).

Chita Rivera, the sultry singer, dancer and actress who commanded the Broadway stage for more than a half-century, has died. She was 91.

Rivera died peacefully in New York on Tuesday, following a brief illness, her daughter, Lisa Mordente, shared in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.

Known for her long, sleek legs, smoldering green eyes and lusty singing voice, the two-time Tony Award winner originated some of musical theater’s most iconic characters.

As Rose Grant, the long-suffering girlfriend of songwriter Albert Peterson, Rivera received top billing over Dick Van Dyke in 1960’s Bye Bye Birdie. In 1975, she made the stage sizzle with “All That Jazz” as Velma Kelly in Chicago. And the 1993 musical adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman put her in the spotlight as the sexy Spider Woman.

Tom Hopper will play Raife Hastings in Terminal List: Dark Wolf, who is described as “a hunter, protector, guardian and Navy Seal.” Hooper will star in the series alongside Chris Pratt as James Reece, Taylor Kitsch as Ben Edwards, and Jared Shaw as Ernest “Boozer” Vickers. Set five years prior to the events of the first series, Dark Wolf focuses on Kitsch’s character as he moves from life as a Navy Seal to a CIA paramilitary operator. Before completing these challenges, it’s worth noting that you can still sell unwanted gear in Hogwarts Legacy to free up inventory space and earn some extra Galleons. In addition, once you have obtained a certain piece of gear, you can use Hogwarts Legacy’s transmog feature to change its appearance to match other items, even if those items have been sold or destroyed. As such, you don’t need to worry about juggling stats and fashion sense.
