On the eve of release, developer Telltale Games has lifted the lid on the official launch trailer for its five-part Guardians of the Galaxy series, promising a whole new adventure for Star-Lord and the gang.
Soon after answering a distress call from the Nova Corps, Peter Quill and his loyal band of anti-heroes go up against Thanos, the Mad Titan of the Marvel universe, in exchange for a clean slate. It’s slightly similar to James Gunn’s 2014 sleeper hit in that Star-Lord and the other Guardians begrudgingly accept a mission in an attempt to clear their names, but Telltale has made it clear that its imminent episodic series features an original story, and it’s one that’ll begin with the release of “Tangled Up in Blue” tomorrow, April 18th.

Uncharted 4 took home Best Game at the BAFTA Games Awards last night.
Naughty Dog’s fourth and final instalment in the action-adventure series took home Best Game, making it the fifth win for the series having previously won Best Game in 2010 for Uncharted 2.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the contributions of hundreds of people at Naughty Dog,” said Arne Meyer, Director of Communications at Naughty Dog, who took to the stage last night at Tobacco Dock, London, alongside voice actors and fellow nominees Troy Baker and Nolan North, and also Scott Hanau of Sony.
“Particular our co-directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, the support of our co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Valestra, of course also to our partners at PlayStation…..without their support we wouldn’t have been able to really do the final chapter [of the] Nathan Drake story the way that we would’ve wanted too.”

The first trailer for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, has finally arrived! See the debut trailer below!
Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot are about to embark on a whole new adventure that will include new enemies, new treasure, and a battle with the big bad himself, Thanos! The trailer for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series reveals just enough of the personality of our beloved misfits to get us intrigued! See it for yourself!
The best line of the entire trailer had to be, "You can't possibly know that!" in response to Star-Lord's comment about being on the slowest elevator in the universe. It also shows just how hard Telltale is working on creating a game reminiscent of the 2014 McU film, which is no easy task.

It’s the Guardians vs. Thanos in the rip-roaring first teaser for Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Telltale Series.
Slated to premiere in April with the launch of “Tangled Up in Blue,” Telltale’s latest creative venture pits Star-Lord and the gang against the Mad Titan, who has waged war on the Nova Corps. In their darkest hour, the people of the Nova Corps turn to the Guardians of the Galaxy as their last remaining hope, and though today’s first-look promo is light on story, the final shot sees the universe’s unlikeliest heroes preparing to lock horns with Thanos – a battle that won’t happen on the big screen until at least Avengers: Infinity War.
As previously reported, Guardians Of The Galaxy: The Telltale Series is considered a separate beast with its own unique story, and therefore won’t be beholden to the continuity of the McU.

A sweeping adventure, a long-lost artifact, two mismatched treasure hunters – sound familiar? For fans of Naughty Dog’s flagship Uncharted series, it should, though the developer is ready to tinker with its winning formula with the release of standalone expansion, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
Welcoming Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross into the spotlight, the Dlc is pitched as a spinoff from Uncharted 4 that takes place some six months after Nathan Drake’s final adventure (more on that later) and following Game Informer’s grand reveal late last week, PlayStation Blog has now unearthed a series of character images for the forthcoming expansion. Embedded above, there’s also confirmation that Usman Ally, the Obie award-winning actor who recently appeared in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, is attached to the part of Asav, the malevolent villain set to put Nadine and Chloe through their paces.

Telltale Games is doing some great things in the gaming world, especially for casual gamers like me. Their Walking Dead series and their Batman series are both great! They have now released our first look at the upcoming Marvel game Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. They also offer some new details on what the game will entail along with the voice cast.
That cast includes Friday Night Lights star Scott Porter as Star-Lord, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor actress Emily O'Brien as Gamora, Uncharted actor Nolan North will play Rocket Raccoon, Watch Dogs' Brandon Paul Eells will voice Drax, and The Wolf Among Us' Adam Harrington will voice Groot.
The story for the series will follow the Guardians team as they discover a powerful artifact after a major battle. Each of the Guardians wants the relic for different reasons, as does a villain who is the last of her kind.

On the eve of its presentation at Pax East, developer Telltale Games has today unveiled the stunning first images for its Guardians of the Galaxy series.
First announced at The Game Awards back in December, the studio’s serialized spin on the Marvel motley crew takes a leaf out of James Gunn’s book in that it follows the adventures of Star-Lord and the gang “from Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond.” The similarities end there, however, as Telltale’s five-part Guardians of the Galaxy saga features a totally original story for the universe’s unlikeliest heroes.
Little is currently known about the game’s actual plot, but now that the first screenshots are out in the wild, we fully expect Telltale to roll out a teaser trailer – and possibly lock down a release date – in the Albatross Theatre tomorrow, March 10th. One thing we do know for sure,...

A Thief’s End, Naughty Dog’s latest and arguably greatest entry into the swashbuckling Uncharted franchise, brought the curtain down on Nathan Drake’s saga with aplomb – but Nolan North’s wisecracking mascot is about to find new life on the big screen.
That’s right, after years spent simmering on the brink of production, Sony is finally beginning to make serious headway on a live-action adaptation after hiring both Shawn Levy and Joe Carnahan (The A-Team, The Raid) to direct and write, respectively. Having anchored the entirety of season 1 as the pure and innocent Dolores Abernathy, it was later revealed that Wood had been playing two characters all along, with the second being the elusive maniac known as Wyatt. To ensure said secret remained firmly under wraps, Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy refrained from telling Wood about the dual nature of her character which, in hindsight, caused a little confusion on set.
Looking back on Westworld‘s inaugural season, Evan Rachel Wood revealed to THR that, much like those of us tuning in, it wasn’t until Sunday’s “The Bicameral Mind” that she solved one of the show’s more confounding riddles.

With Joe Carnahan (The A-Team) writing the script and Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) set to direct the feature film adaptation of Uncharted, it looks like Sony Pictures is ready to finally move this film forward and into production!
Directors David O. Russell, Neil Burger, and Seth Gordon have all been attached to direct the film at various stages of production, but it seems like Levy is the one that's going to make it happen. During a recent interview with Collider, Carnahan talked about the film, and it sounds like he really wants to get this movie right for the fans.
"I can tell you that Shawn Levy and I sat down last weekend, he has fantastic knowledge. Here’s the thing, Shawn is an incredibly bright, incredibly skilled, talented guy, and you sit with him for five minutes and you know and understand why he has the level of success he’s had.

Once pushed to the fringes over at Sony, the long-awaited Uncharted movie is officially moving forward with Stranger Things director Shawn Levy at the helm.
It’s still early, early days, but thanks to a new interview conducted by Collider, screenwriter Joe Carnahan (Smokin’ Aces, The A-Team, The Grey) has outlined the creative thinking behind the adaptation and, specifically, which elements of Nathan Drake’s history will be carried over onto the silver screen.
First up, Carnahan reflects on his early meetings with Levy, and how the creative pair have referred to Raiders of the Lost Ark as an example of a swashbuckling hero. But Nathan Drake is a treasure hunter first and foremost, and here Carnahan describes him as the “anti-Indy” in the sense that both Drake and his old pal Sully aren’t necessarily the archetypal good guys.

I’d been a Sega kid in my formative years as a gamer thanks to an ill-advised decision from my parents to buy me a Mega Drive (that’s a Genesis, for you in the colonies) rather than a Snes. Like any true Sega gamer, I used to convince myself that I had the best machine. Mario? Pfft. He was just a fat plumber fighting an angry turtle. Sonic was the man (figuratively). He was radical and gnarly and other embarrassing nineties words. He had kick ass shoes, and he was super fast, and he had to fight a crazy moustachio’d scientist to save the animals. And we were all about nature in the early nineties. That’s where Captain Planet and Earth Song came from. Sonic the Hedgehog rocked my socks.
Except Sonic the Hedgehog was, for lack of a better word, shit, and I’d been kidding myself the whole time.

If you've only ever seen the films, you've never really seen "Star Trek" at its height. While the movies are the true home for "Star Wars," television is where "Star Trek" has birthed its greatest moments over the years and numerous different TV series.
Many fans would argue episodes like "City on the Edge of Forever," "Balance of Terror," "The Best of Both Worlds," "Yesterday's Enterprise," "In the Pale Moonlight," "The Measure of a Man" and many more outshine practically all the movies in terms of storytelling and characterisation.
Even with the franchise reinvigorated with J.J. Abrams 2009 reboot, many fans are still clamoring for a return of Trek to TV screens and there have often been rumors of that return, rumors that never seemed to pan out. However, one report today indicates that one possible idea is in the works and involves a major fan.

One of the most frequent complaints that has been lobbed against the PlayStation 4 in the past year or so has been the lack of games, especially exclusives. Last fall in particular it was a visible problem as the rival Xbox One had several well-regarded exclusives hit such as "Sunset Overdrive," "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" and "Forza Horizon 2" on top of the cross-platform Aaa titles that both consoles share.
In early 2015 though the tables have turned to some degree with the imminent release of Ps exclusive titles like "The Order 1886" and "Bloodborne". With Sony now seemingly fighting back, they've done something unexpected - publishing a complete list of all their upcoming 2015 game releases.
Many still don't have specific dates yet, dates which aren't expected to be announced until around the time of the big conventions closer to mid-year, but here's the list as it stands now.

The honeymoon period is typically defined as a time in the beginning of a longterm relationship where everything just seems to fall into place — a time when love blossoms and hearts sing, when poems are written and happy-tears are shed. It is, in essence, a symbiotic connection between two parties, an opportune period that brings out the best in everyone.
And generally speaking, the same can be said about the innate alliance between video game developers and console hardware (it’s a shaky analogy, but stick with me). When a new system hits the market, it’s often paired with lacklustre software — Nintendo’s N64 notwithstanding. In fact, through time, it’s become a trend that the available catalogue of games at launch leaves much to be desired and realistically, it’s a necessary evil. Be they first-party or third-party, studios often don’t get their hands on early builds...

So E3 is over for another year. Breathe. After a frenzied four days which saw the major hitters in the gaming industry showcase their future releases, now is a good time to take stock of the major news released during the press conferences at the beginning of the expo. Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, EA and Ubisoft all had their chance on the main stage to wow fans with exciting announcements and brand new footage of the year's upcoming releases.
While this year's set of conferences could arguably be described as solid rather than spectacular, gaming's biggest companies still demonstrated that they had some treats in store for us over the coming year. Without further ado, here is a breakdown of all the biggest gaming news that happened at E3 this year.

Video Gaming began in 1972 with the introduction of the instant classic Pong. Since then, the popularity and quality of video games has sky-rocketed. 40 years on and we can all but create reality. Gameplay, graphics and the entire production of games is better than ever. This is why the question stands - is this the Golden Age of video games?
Most people have their own opinion on what this age was and really it comes down to what age you are. A gamer’s age depicts which generations they have played through, and subsequently the games. Almost every gamer would believe it is the generation they played the most, be that 80’s, 90’s, 00’s or whenever, that is the best. The 80’s was a very distinct age for gaming. In 1983, Nintendo released the Nintendo Entertainment System (Nes) and virtually spawned the gaming world as we know it. The 80’s saw classic games like Super Mario Bros.,...

BioWare A scene from the videogame Mass Effect 3.
During an appearance on NPR’s “Talk of the Nation” for the 20th anniversary of his Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Angels in America,” Tony Kushner let slip a detail of the “very specific sense” he had about what happened to Joe Pitt—one of the play’s central characters that disappears very ambiguously from the story’s end. BioWare Mass Effect 3
I’m going to admit something here. I really don’t like Star Wars. Here’s the thing: There are certain stories that work well as videogames, just as there are stories that work well as movies or films. Space operas, with their seemingly infinite room for expansion, endless idiosyncratic planets and funny-looking aliens, and waves of lore and technobabble, make more sense to me as games.
This is what BioWare must have realized when it created...

Game Art!
Hey arty people, video games are coming to a gallery near you (If you live in or are visiting the Us anytime soon)! It’s true, the art-form that is gaming is about to make it into a real gallery space thanks to the forward thinking people at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The last Art Perspective focused on the subtle inclusion of Apple’s iPads in David Hockney’s work, but this week we see gaming fully embraced by the gallery world with the forthcoming exhibition The Art of Video Games.
The exhibition title might suggest that there is a focus on cutting edge arty games or the obscure indy market, but this is not the case. The games are all fairly mainstream and popular titles, showing that the whole gaming medium is worthy of praise, whether it is a modern Fps or a classic 8-bit adventure.

I know some people have already made this argument and I don’t normally go with the consensus but I have to say that this is most likely the best year ever in the history of gaming. I honestly can’t remember a year in which there were so many games that were so good coming out at the same time. Usually what would happen is you would get a list of ten of the most anticipated games of the year and only five of them live up to the hype. Well this year I would say 9 out of the 10 games on my most anticipated list lived up to or exceeded my expectations.
In all my years of gaming I can’t remember a year where it was so difficult to pick just one game for game of the year. Last year it was easy there were basically only three...

Chicago – Nintendo has arguably received more negative press than at any other time in their existence regarding the lack of must-own titles for their newest product, the Nintendo 3Ds. Why upgrade to 3D if there are no games that demand it? Every single console has been driven by the software available for it. You got an Xbox because you Had to play “Gears of War.” Your friends who played “Uncharted” guilted you into a PS3. Will “Super Mario 3D Land” finally be The title for the Nintendo 3Ds? Yes and no.
The first thing one notices about it is that “Super Mario 3D Land” is a surprisingly nostalgic title, something that will play most effectively to those of us who have been loyal to the legend of Mario saving the Princess from Bowser for decades. It reminded me of those early days of the original “Super Mario Bros.” much more than I expected.

Since the 70s computer games and consoles have evolved at an astonishing rate. The trend in the industry is to categorise the history of gaming into eras defined by what we call console generations. Throughout the different console generations there have always been market leaders such as Nintendo, Sega and Sony. There have been times when one particular console has out performed the competition by such a margin that it has gained a majority market share but there has never been a console monopoly.
The current generation is an interesting one as there has been a constant battle between three major players, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. What this means for us gamers (well most of us) is that we have to make a choice between one of these companies’ offerings. As each console costs in excess of £100 there are very few who are willing to stretch their budgets and invest...

Any fan of Star Wars video games could tell you that Lucasarts, EA Games, and developer BioWare have released eye-poppingly kinetic trailers for Star Wars: The Old Republic over the past couple years. It’s been an achingly extended pre-release campaign that’s turned the elusive massively multiplayer game into the mouse-and-pixel equivalent of The Tree of Life or Chinese Democracy – the anticipation almost seems more important than the project itself. Back in April, film critic Roger Ebert stirred up a tempest in a teacup with his comment that gaming can never be art. Last week at E3, the game industry's annual mega-convention, I asked the gaming execs and creators I interviewed their thoughts on Ebert's opinion and if they could give him one game to change his mind, what would that be. Their thoughts below.
Laurent Detoc, North America president, Ubisoft:
Even Hideo Kojima [creator of the critically-acclaimed series Metal Gear Solid] doesn't even consider that video games are art, if I recall correctly. As a consumer, I don't actually like to look at if it is an art form or not. I think there is an ample case for explaining why it should be. Ebert has his opinion, and so do another billion people. I like to look at games as a set of experiences. Would I call that art? As a consumer, I don't think it matters.

Update – Special thanks to Boro of the ComingSoon Boards for pointing out a very important game I left off of here. My fault.
I’m actually really thankful the great Erik Buckman has allowed me to take the reigns of the gaming section ’round these here parts. Truth be told, if I thought I could handle it, I’d want to learn to program games and do that. Alas, I have a passion in film and am pursuing a directing career, while in the meantime covering two of the things I love most: movies and video games.
Today we’ll focus on the gaming side of things, and after a stellar 2009 for the medium, 2010 looks like it’s going to be even better, especially if you own a PS3. After a year that saw a price drop, increase in Blu-ray, Uncharted 2, Demon’s Souls, and Killzone 2, Sony continues to pursue...

Eagle Eye director D.J Caruso is set to helm a movie version of the game “Dead Space,” a film that will be produced by Electronic Arts and Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill. Not for nothing, Caruso is said to also be working on an adaptation the game “Defender.”
Right now, “Dead Space” is looking at prospective screenwriters. Once EA has a set “creative direction,” they will begin to selling it to studios. Variety thinks that the auctioning will happen in early September.
“Dead Space” is set in the 26th century in space. It’s about an engineer who answers a distress call from a ship only to find on board monstrous creatures born from human corpses called Necromorphs. EA is also working on two sequels for the game launched in 2008.
The eerie video-game is one of many titles that are soon to get a cinematic adaptation.
