I believe that the first 10 moves of a game are "theory" and based of recorded games. I think most players try to spend 5 to 10 seconds or less to save time, if you spend 1 minute on the first 10 moves this is mind blowing, and too slow or a blunder. Especially in timed games. That is a brief explanation, hope it helps.
