James Marsden has been the heartthrob and even the president (in Hulu’s currently airing Dan Fogelman political thriller Paradise), but Jury Duty marked the first time the Emmy nominee played an exaggerated, asshole version of himself — something he said he felt bad about, especially given unsuspecting leading man (and victim) Ronald Gladden’s lack of awareness about it.
Appearing on a new episode of Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast today, Marsden unpacked the behind-the-scenes stakes of the “risky high-wire act” Freevee show that captivated comedy fans based on its prank-adjacent premise: One man is duped into believing he is a member of a jury in a real court case, when, in actuality, he is surrounded by increasingly bizarre characters and scenarios.
Over the course of filming for three weeks, Marsden said he and his fellow actors became “actual friends [with Gladden] during it because he was such a good guy and fun to be around.

Weddings are such fertile ground for star-driven comedies it seems impossible to reinvent the sub-genre. A few manage to add a new spin to a setting that has been codified by the likes of “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “Wedding Crashers,” and “27 Dresses.” “Palm Springs” is an excellent recent example, for instance. “Anyone But You” was less creative but more financially successful thanks to the hottie pair of Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney.
Into this fray enters “You’re Cordially Invited,” written and directed by Nicholas Stoller, whose efforts include “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Neighbors.” Destined for streaming on Prime Video (like so many comedies these days), this matrimonial romp stars Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon. While it’s often funny thanks to an excellent supporting cast, it also drags on too long, and comes to an unearned rom-com conclusion. Let’s just say Ferrell and Witherspoon do not ignite the screen opposite one another,...

As January wraps up, Hulu is keeping the momentum going with an impressive lineup of new titles next month. Whether you’re into movies, TV shows, or both, there’s plenty to keep you entertained throughout February.
Hulu is starting strong with over 60 new titles arriving on February 1 alone. Some standout additions include Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2, as well as all four seasons of the classic ’90s drama New York Undercover.
Reality TV fans will also have something to look forward to with the season six premiere of The Kardashians.
But as exciting as the new arrivals are, there’s always the bittersweet reality that some beloved titles are leaving. In February, Hulu will only be removing movies, so TV lovers can breathe easy. However, the list of departing films includes some good titles, like Titane (2021) and Spencer (2021), which earned Kristen Stewart an Oscar nomination.

Say goodbye to those New Year greetings and memes, because February is almost here. Time to really sink our teeth into 2025 and how it’ll look, and of course that means beefing up your watchlist. As always the libraries of Hulu and Disney+ (and multiple available bundles) are here to help, with new shows and movies (both family friendly and… a little unfriendly) available to stream.
Along with ongoing episodes of “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” Disney+ will debut all of “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” Season 2 and plenty of other great titles for young viewers. “The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl” special will recapture the magic of a live performance, and “Harlem Ice” follows a girls’ figure skating team through their competitive season.

The Cobra Kai cast comes from broad backgrounds. On the one hand, one of the main actors is Ralph Macchio, who plays an adult version of the classic Karate Kid character Daniel Larusso. William Zabka also reprises his role as Johnny Lawrence, bringing back another character from earlier in the Karate Kid franchise. Including these familiar faces makes Cobra Kai seem more connected to the original franchise, and draws in a potentially wider audience of those familiar with the older characters.
At the same time, Cobra Kai's cast also includes younger members alongside the aging stars. This includes actors such as Xolo Maridueña, Jacob Bertrand, Mary Mouser, and Peyton List. Netflix has played a big role in Lindsay Lohan's comeback as an actor, but her three films on the streaming service aren't all the same in terms of quality. Many of Lindsay Lohan's best movies came when she was a child and young adult, and the actor had a dip in popularity in the mid-2000s. While she never stopped acting, Lohan had a marked comeback in 2022, when she made her first Netflix original movie, Falling for Christmas. Since then, Lohan has made two more original films with the streamer, and some of them are on the list of the best Christmas movies on Netflix.
The three movies Lohan made with Netflix - Falling for Christmas, Irish Wish, and Our Little Secret - ranged in quality. None of them were ground-breaking films, but all of them had something to offer, be it good laughs or comforting and heartwarming holiday stories.

Since transitioning from TV to movies, Will Smith has become one of Hollywoods biggest stars, with the catalog to back up his status. Smith first rose to prominence as the star of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Not many TV actors can move on to films so easily, but Smith clearly had the talent, the charisma and the pure intangible star power. Throughout the 1990s, he starred in a string of huge box office hits.
Although Smith was initially seen as a comedic actor, with movies like Bad Boys and Men in Black, he has shown a more impressive range. With three Oscar nominations to his name, Smith has proven his chops in biopics, action movies and traditional dramas. This means that his best movies show many sides to his acting talents, and they span from the early 1990s to the here and now.

Dimas Anggara’s new venture, “#Ootd: Outfit of the Designer” (2024), is not for those expecting a feat akin to “The Devil Wears Prada” or “27 Dresses.” The film nosedives from sugary romance to tragedy quickly. The aesthetic along the lines of “Emily in Paris” is only an invitation to let the tragic narrative unfurl its colors in time.
It is the story of a young Indonesian girl in Europe with a colorful aspiration caught in a slew of tragedies that seem to appear out of nowhere. Will she ever be able to free herself from this web of tragedies? How reliable are her loved ones in helping her sort her way through the muck? We attempt to throw some light.
#Ootd: Outfit of the Designer (2024) Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis: An Indonesian girl in Birmingham
Nare, an Indonesian-origin fashion designer, lives in Birmingham and leads a charming life well surrounded by friends from her native land.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 continues the story of these classic video game adaptations, bringing back the majority of the original cast for a third installment in this blockbuster franchise. Like the previous entries in the franchise , Sonic the Hedgehog 3s story is an original narrative that draws from the history of the games. In this case, the film seems to be pulling from Sonic Adventure 2, which introduced Sonic's vengeful counterpart Shadow the Hedgehog as a dark mirror to Sonic.
The original Sonic the Hedgehog movie was a huge box office success, and the success of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 cemented the character's cinematic potential. This was in part thanks to a star-studded cast and veteran voice-actors, which brought fresh life to the classic video game characters. Have we all figured out the difference between blue and cerulean yet? Because Miranda Priestly may be about to re-enter the building.

Katherine Center's novel brings rom-coms back to life with its relatable characters and heartwarming storylines.
This summer, a new romance book is making its debut, and it might just be the perfect read for those who miss the golden age of rom-coms. The modern romantic comedy truly reached its peak during the 1990s and early 2000s; rom-coms simply haven't been as good since then. Luckily though, romance books have made a massive comeback in the last few years, and with them, rom-coms have enjoyed a renaissance, largely thanks to streaming - though with a few surprise theatrical release hits, too.

You can’t keep these fly boys down. After Miles Teller starred and flew alongside Tom Cruise in “Top Gun Maverick,” the actor is getting back in a Navy uniform for a remake of the 1982 romance “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
Teller will star in the remake of the Oscar-winning romance that originally starred Richard Gere, Debra Winger, and the late Louis Gossett Jr., an individual with knowledge of the project told IndieWire.
“An Officer and a Gentleman” told the story of a young man going through the Naval Academy to complete his training as an aviation officer, only to get caught up in the headwinds of a whirlwind romance from a girl on the wrong side of the tracks and a tough Gunnery sergeant.
Miles Teller…Navy aviation…where have we heard that before?

The Proposal, a timeless rom-com, blends enemies-to-lovers & fake-dating tropes, offering a believable & engaging romance. Like The Proposal, 27 Dresses features personal sacrifice and romantic misunderstandings within wedding preparations. Two Weeks Notice, akin to The Proposal, explores workplace romance with witty banter & unexpected love blossoming.
The Proposal is one of the timeless romantic comedies of the 2000s, and there are many other movies like The Proposal for fans of the romcoms. Released in 2009, the movie follows the story of Margaret Tate, a high-powered book editor who must fake an engagement with her assistant, Andrew Paxton, to avoid deportation to Canada. As they head to Alaska to visit Andrew's family, the duo's initially contentious relationship starts to soften, unfolding into a series of comedic and romantic misadventures. Yulin Kuang knows she hit the literary jackpot.
The writer-director, whose credits include The CW’s I Ship It, Hulu’s Dollface and Netflix’s The Healing Powers of Dude, is adapting Emily Henry’s People We Meet On Vacation for film and writing-directing the forthcoming Beach Read film for 20th Century Studios. Henry has became a household name in the world of romance, with devoted fans eager to see how her love stories translate onscreen — even going so far as to share dream casting choices, trying to find Easter egg clues that would tease anything of what’s to come and stoking rumors about a potential Paul Mescal and Ayo Edebiri casting thanks to a photo Henry shared on social media.
While it can be assumed adapting those stories might come with added pressure, Kuang understands fans’ anxiety over whether the adaptations will be up to par.

Irish Wish, Lindsay Lohan's new Netflix rom-com, closely resembles 27 Dresses, both receiving low critical scores. Both movies share similarities in plot, characters, and romantic conflicts, leading to their negative reception. Irish Wish quickly gained popularity on Netflix but faced criticism for clichés, weak script, and undeveloped characters.
Despite being an original story, Lindsay Lohan’s new Netflix movie Irish Wish is way too similar to a 16-year-old rom-com that didn’t do well with critics. After a couple of projects that fell under the radar, Lindsay Lohan has been making a comeback to rom-coms, beginning with the Netflix Christmas movie Falling for Christmas. Lohan later made a deal with Netflix to star in two more movies, beginning with Irish Wish. Directed by Janeen Damian and written by Kirsten Hansen, Irish Wish introduces viewers to Maddie (Lohan), a writer and editor to famous author Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos).

While praised by critics for its visuals and performances, the adaptation was divisive among audiences, receiving a 41% audience score. Despite mixed reviews, Noah was a box office hit, grossing over $362 million worldwide.
Russell Crowe’s 2014 epic biblical drama movie Noah has become a global Netflix hit. Directed by Darren Aronofsky and inspired by the scriptural story of Noah’s Ark, the movie stars Crowe as the titular lead, who God chooses to build an ark to save his family and the world's animals from a great flood that the deity has summoned to wipe out the evil of men. 27 Dresses star Katherine Heigl's other rom-coms like The Ugly Truth (2009) and Life as We Know It (2010) follow similar lead character dynamics. After 27 Dresses, Heigl went on to star in more wedding-centered rom-coms like The Big Wedding (2013) and Jenny's Wedding (2015). Rom-coms like My Best Friend's Wedding and Made of Honor share the same trope as 27 Dresses, in which the lead character pines after the bride or groom of a wedding in which they are the maid of honor.
There are plenty of great rom-coms like 2008's 27 Dresses starring Katherine Heigl and James Marsden. Hollywood has let down James Marsden by not giving him the leading-man career he deserves in romantic comedies. Marsden's role in 27 Dresses proves he should have been cast as the lead in more romcoms due to his talent and charisma. Marsden's recent TV success shows that now is the perfect time for Hollywood to redeem its rom-com mistake by casting him as a leading man.
A beloved romantic comedy from 2008 proves that Hollywood has let down James Marsden in a major way – but it’s not too late to rectify those mistakes and give Marsden his due. Marsden has always been a talented, charismatic actor that audiences have enjoyed watching. He played the iconic superhero Cyclops in the X-Men movies and breathed life into the historical icon that is John F. Kennedy in The Butler. He’s adept at both goofy comedic roles and nuanced dramatic roles, finding the truth in both of them.

Love triangles can explore the complexities of relationships and characters' imperfections, but they can also distract from the plot's thematic issues and make the characters look petty and immature. The love triangle in The Hunger Games detracts from the deeper themes of the series and the complex ideas about a tyrannical government controlling a population. In Frozen, the love triangle between Anna, Kristoff, and Hans is unnecessary and could have focused on Anna realizing she rushed into a quick engagement and needed time to develop a real relationship.
Love triangles are a tricky business. Good love triangles can be a way to explore the complexities of romantic relationships and characters' imperfections. Romantic possibilities may represent something greater than the people involved, such as whatever life a character would have if they chose one partner over the other. Alternatively, the central character may not only be torn between two romances, but...

Ending the year in signs is the hilarious, adventurous, sharp-tongued era of Sagittarius.
There’s truly nothing like them. They are quirky, mysterious and full of life. While they naturally grab the attention in the room, they feel most comfortable when they’re in their lonesome.
Sagittarius is the jack-of-trades sign; the sign that takes up space in every all industries — whether they be an actor, comedian or a bus driver — their versatility allows them to do it all. And that flexibility helps fuel their “I’ll try anything once” mindset. To them, what is life if you’re not living it to your fullest? The only thing you have to beware of is their slick mouth. James Marsden Wants to See ‘Jury Duty’ Castmate Ronald Gladden Lead a ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ Remake
Since “Jury Duty” debuted on Amazon Freevee in April, love has poured in for the hidden camera comedy — in particular for its do-gooder hero Ronald Gladden, who was the only person on the show not to know the whole court case was fake and the jurors were actors. Though Gladden was initially in shock when he learned the truth, he’s since said he would be interested in expanding his on-screen career to other projects — and castmate James Marsden has one in mind for his newfound friend.
“I’d like to see Ronald in a remake of the ‘Smokey and the Bandit’ franchise,” Marsden told TheWrap in a recent interview. “I’d love to see him grow a mustache and play the Burt Reynolds role. I think he’d be good in that.”

This story about James Marsden’s deep dive into the world of improv comedy in “Jury Duty” first appeared in the Comedy Series issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
Based on James Marsden’s history of playing impossibly handsome leading men — and often, would-be leading men — in movies including “27 Dresses,” “Enchanted,” “The Notebook” and the “X-Men” films, a burning ambition to do comedy wouldn’t be the first thing you’d imagine he’s been harboring all this time.
But the laughs have always been the Oklahoma native’s first love. “Before I moved out here (to L.A.), I wanted to be a regular on ‘SNL.’ Not a host — I wanted to actually be one of the cast,” Marsden said during a recent interview in Los Angeles. “I just felt like that played to my strengths. Since he first appeared on "Saved by the Bell: The New Class" in 1993, James Marsden has slowly become a Hollywood mainstay. He rose to fame with roles in movies including "X-Men" and "The Notebook," and his star reached new heights when he showed off his singing skills in "Enchanted" and "Hairspray." More recently, Marsden starred as the kindhearted android Teddy Flood in "Westworld," and he also plays himself in "Jury Duty," albeit a more narcissistic version.

Ashton Kutcher wears a lot of hats these days. He’s a producer, entrepreneur, husband, and father. But most know him for his acting in comedies like That 70s Show and Two and a Half Men. His latest film Your Place or Mine is currently streaming on Netflix. But recently, the popular actor took a trip down memory lane with Vanity Fair to talk about his cult classic film, Dude, Where’s My Car? Kutcher talked about one interesting scene from the film.
‘Dude, Where’s My Car?’ became a cult classic
In 2000, Kutcher starred in Dude, Where’s My Car? with Seann William Scott. They played two stoner friends who wake up after a night of partying to realize they don’t remember where they left the car owned by Kutcher’s character, Jesse. Hilarity ensues as the duo retraces their steps to find the vehicle and get into all sorts...

Church bells are ringing, the choir's singing, and your true love is walking down the aisle. One of the happiest — but most stressful — days of every couple's lives has been great fodder for filmmakers for decades. Whether they're watching Audrey Hepburn's charm and beauty threaten William Holden's nuptials, Andi MacDowell and Hugh Grant attend multiple weddings (and one funeral), or Andy Samberg relive the same ceremony over and over again, viewers young and old alike love to laugh and cry at wedding movies.
These movies' success comes down to flexibility; there are countless narrative possibilities associated with a momentous occasion like a wedding. While we watch a couple commit to until-death-do-us-part, the screen can radiate immense love and joy, or immediate dread and regret. Laughter can fill a banquet hall just as easily as the sound of a jilted lover's tears. So, dust off that tuxedo and puff up that bridesmaid dress,...

Jake Johnson is vowing that there is no new unexpected ending to “New Girl.”
The heartwarming finale that saw Johnson’s Nick end up with Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, would still stand if there was ever a reunion or revival, Johnson said during a 2023 SXSW panel. The “Self Reliance” director noted that Nick and Jess would not break up since fans last saw the characters in 2018.
“I think they would definitely make it work. I don’t think they would break up,” Johnson said. “They have a kid, they’re jumping around on that bed, you guys know it way more than me. I don’t think Nick or Jess would ever fall out of the commitment to do this thing together.”
He continued, “Liz Merriweather has created a very optimistic show, it’s people who are sweet to each other. So if it’s real and they’re alive,...
