Exclusive: James Martin’s Spanish Adventure, which was the subject of a formal bullying complaint and led to the presenter being rapped by ITV, will air shortly and be sold to international buyers at Mipcom.
ITV is pushing on with plans to play the TV series – in which the under-fire TV chef travels around Spain cooking and meeting locals – in the Autumn. The show’s distributor, Dcd Rights, meanwhile, which has sold many of Martin’s travelogues made by his indie Blue Marlin, said it will be “launched at Mipcom to international buyers as planned.”
A Deadline investigation late last month revealed that Martin had been told to change his behavior by ITV following a complaint on the set of Spanish Adventure. Martin, who has hosted ITV’s Saturday Morning for six years and the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen for a decade before that, was accused of berating people, reducing...

Exclusive: Brit TV chef James Martin is at the center of a bullying storm after he was accused of intimidating his crew on multiple occasions.
Deadline can reveal that ITV has told Martin to change his behavior after the UK’s biggest commercial broadcaster received a complaint in May about his conduct from some of the presenter’s closest colleagues.
Concerns were raised about Martin’s treatment of crew during recent filming on James Martin’s Spanish Adventure, the latest in a long line of travel cooking shows the chef has fronted for ITV over his six-year spell with the broadcaster.
Deadline understands that the complaint is the second time ITV has been made aware of misgivings about Martin’s conduct following a separate incident in 2018 when he launched a foul-mouthed tirade against staff after a drain was blocked at his home during the production of James Martin’s Saturday Morning.

Simon “Si” King of the Hairy Bikers has shared his gratitude about a new project with Dave Myers after the latter’s cancer diagnosis.
Longtime friends King and Myers have been known as travelling chefs since their first series, The Hairy Bikers Cookbook, in 2004.
Myers revealed his cancer diagnosis in May 2022 during an episode of his and King’s Agony Uncles podcast.
In a video on the official Hairy Bikers Instagram account, King unboxes copies of the latest Hairy Bikers cookbook, The Hairy Dieter: Eat Well Every Day.
“Eat well every day... well, why not?” he says to the camera, holding the book.
“It’s always so lovely, and it’s a bit of a special book, this,” he adds, before saying that he hopes it’s enjoyed by the people who read it.
In the caption for the post, King wrote: “It’s finally here everyone!”

Laura Whitmore was corrected on Saturday Kitchen after poking fun at Love Island star Tasha.
The host of the ITV2 reality series appeared on the cookery show this weekend (20 August) when she playfully alerted wine expert Helen McGinn to what she believed to have been a blunder made by the contestant on this year’s series.
After speaking about her love of rosé, Whitmore said: “Also, Tasha on Love Island this year, she thought rosé wine was red white and white wine mixed together,” sarcastically adding: “Which is apparently not how you make it.”
McGinn replied: “Well, I have to say Tasha’s not completely wrong,” to which a surprised Whitmore replied: “Oh! Go on...”
The expert then explained that, with Champagne, “you are allowed to mix red and white wine to make rose, but only in Champagne in France”.
Whitmore, casting aspersions on Tasha’s wine knowledge, asked: “Do you think Tasha thought that?...

Gregg Wallace won't return to 'Saturday Kitchen'. The 51-year-old presenter fronted the first series of the cookery show in 2002, before being replaced by Antony Worrall Thompson just 12 months later, but he has admitted there's no way he'd slip back into his apron when current host James Martin steps down later this month. Asked if he'd return to the tummy-gurgling show, he exclusively told Bang Showbiz: ''No, because I think you have to give up every Saturday morning and I don't think I've got it to give. I would rather fulfill the work obligations I have got at the moment. I...

1. When is it back?
Detectives Alec Hardy (David Tennant) and Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) will return to ITV in January 2015.
We don't know the exact date, but if we were taking a punt it would be in the second week of the year. And ITV would have to be daft not to put it on Monday nights again - it was the perfect start to the week.
2. Who is returning?
Despite Hardy's funny turns and dicky heart, David Tennant is definitely back. Despite finding out that her husband was a child murderer, Olivia Colman's slug-stomper Miller will also return.
Perhaps more surprisingly, Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan are also involved in series 2. The duo played Beth and Mark Latimer, the parents of victim Danny in series one and their reappearance suggests that the second series may in some way be connected to the first - rather than a second,...

Happiness. It’s a funny old thing. It can be judged by laughing because your mate is trapped in a tea-pot. It can be judged by a great big smile. It can also be judged by simply being content with your lot in life. It’s an odd thing this ‘happiness’.
We bumble through our daily lives angry because a train has been cancelled (‘Now I’ll have to wait five minutes for the next one and still not be late for work!). Angry because the local supermarket doesn’t stock our favourite wine (‘But it simply has to be the Cote de Provence recommended by Olly on Saturday Kitchen or else my dinner party will be ruined!’). Angry because our IPhone has run out of power (‘But I’ve only used it solidly for seventeen hours! I’m going to complain to Apple!’).
Then we look at our animal friends.

He was a failed chat show host, now he's a movie star: Here Alan charts a remarkable life journey in his own words
Last week on Mid-Morning Matters, my radio and TV show (there's a webcam), I hosted a phone-in that questioned for the first time Jesus's ability to walk on water. My own theories include "thick layer of ice below surface" and "submerged jetty". Yet many of my callers refused to scrutinise Jesus's deeds at all, preferring to take them at face value, even if that betrayed a lack of intellectual curiosity. I was saddened by that, so when I was asked to sum up why I've become a national treasure, I wanted to look at the facts.
What is a national treasure? When does a man or, to a lesser extent, woman go from being roundly liked (James May) to loved – sewn into the fabric of British life...

Last time Metallica made a film, the result was Some Kind of Monster, a timeless warts-and-all documentary about a band trying to find direction and the dangers of obsessive self-analysis. We've been waiting nine years for a sequel, but Metallica aren't a band who like to let their fans down. Unless, you know, their fans are into filesharing or whatever.
Metallica's new film is called Through the Never, and it promises to be "raw", "visceral" and something "like never before". To be fair, though, that could mean anything. Perhaps the best way to get to the bottom of Metallica Through the Never is to look at its trailer …
Through the Never opens with a van speeding through a deserted city.

Actor Niels Arestrup and the TV chef could be twins: right down to the neatly clipped beard, portly silhouette and balding pate. Mere coincidence? Or something more cunning?
We don't always agree with each other, here in the Guardian film bunker. But Peter Bradshaw is right about A Prophet. It does indeed "comport itself like a modern classic from the first frames". However, in choosing to read it as a film about prison, race, identity and self-development, I think Peter's missed something. Because it's clearly a film about a restaurateur. And it manages to be so without a single restaurant, so far as I can recall, actually appearing in the film.
The key to this reading is the portrayal of César Luciani, the Corsican lag with the prison in his pocket. For when Luciani, played by Niels Arestrup, appears on screen, your first thought will not be for what will...

James Martin has apologised to cyclists after making a gag about knocking them off their bikes when driving. The Saturday Kitchen host wrote about his pleasure at seeing riders falling in hedgerows in his Mail on Sunday column. Martin described the cyclists near his country home as "a bunch of City-boy ponces in fluorescent Spider-Man outfits". He wrote: "Knowing they wouldn't hear me coming, I stepped on the gas, waited until the split second before I overtook them, then gave them an almighty blast on the horn at the exact same time I passed them at speed. The look of sheer terror as they tottered into the hedge was the best thing I've ever seen in my rear-view mirror." Martin's comments prompted (more)...
