Why all the hate?
Now, ok, Back at the Barnyard isn't even close of being something like the Top 10, Top 15, or heck, maybe even Top 20 of the best Nicktoons, but man, why all the hate towards it?
If you liked the movie which the show was based on... yea, i can totally understand that. This show has its pros and cons, so i will list some of them.
Pros:
-Some of the jokes can end up landing.
-The writing got better as time went on (most specifically Season 2)
-The memes of this show are hilarious, good lord how i love Pig as a character and his 4th wall breaks.
-Some stories, while kinda stupid, can still be enjoyable to watch.
Cons:
-The visuals (especially the CGI) are highly outdated.
-The Show is a Terrible Adaptation of the Movie that was based from, a lot of characters from the Movie are all gone or replaced.
-Some of the Characters can act really annoying sometimes.
-The male cows still have udders (yes, i know this is old facts now, but they couldn't at least change Otis design?)
-No Biggie Cheese :(
Verdict:
Back at the Barnyard isn't that good of a show, but is it bad? No.
Honestly, this show is probably the definition of a B Tier Show, Not Bad, but definitely not something Special.
7/10.

It's not better than the movie, but somehow enjoyable.
If you liked the movie Barnyard like i did, you are not gonna like the series better. the series is basically a diversion of the movie, and is basically about the barn animals' efforts to cope with their barn lives. this is not one of nick's best shows. it's no much compared to the earlier shows on nickelodeon like fairly odd parents and spongebob squarepants.
Back at the barnyard is an okay show, it's not gonna stand out like the other shows did and it might be canceled after a couple of more seasons, but since it's intended for 6-10 year olds, it'll be somewhat amusing to them.

Difference between "boy and girl" livestock
I have an 8 yr old son whose TV viewing I monitor closely. I had never seen the movie version of "Back at the Barnyard", but having grown up on a Dairy Farm in WI, I thought the premise was cute and could see no harm in watching an episode with him, figuring it would be fine for him to watch.
I agree that the subject matter tends to be fine and the cartoon is harmless for him to watch, but I can't get past the fact that Otis has a male voice and female parts!!!!! Does nobody realize or care that steers &/or bulls (boys) DO NOT have udders?!!!!!! Cows (girls) have udders.
I realize that as a cartoon for kids this doesn't matter much, but it just irks me that we have become such a lazy viewing audience that we don't hold the creators of this cartoon to a little higher standards. Are we teaching our kids to be sloppy by not requiring minor things like the difference between boys and girls to be portrayed correctly?

Next time, Nickelodeon, leave the movies you make alone.

Worst.....Cartoon.....Ever
This was one of the most poorly written cartoons of all time
The plot made no sense
The soundtrack from that cartoon was stupid
The Theme Song was Loud
The voice acting is Terrible
The episodes are lame (there almost like a bad episode of Family Guy or like a bad episode of space goofs)
The characters are dumb and annoying and stupid
And the most annoying character ever was Ottis's sidekick or Friend All Heros and Villains needs sidekicks There a bit useless but smart, cute, amusing and funny, But for pip hes not cute not funny not amusing, hes so stupid And annoying
Freddy and Peck is a lame Rip-Off of Timon&Pumba
Well All the Farm Animals from Back at the Barnyard are a Complete Disgrace to the Animal Kingdom
Eugene "Snotty Boy" Beady is a rip-off of nelson from the Simpson's (i hate that boy,i hate his voice, i hate his laugh and i hate his hair) Hes Worse than Shelby the Turtle from Mickey Mouse Works&House of Mouse
The references from movies and TV shows are useless
This show was terrible,Disgusting, Boring, Not funny at all, and one of the of the worst shows of all time Even Lilo&Stitch the Series is a Better Animated Show based on a Movie than this
and if you Liked that show, then i Respect your Opinion.

Funny as it oughta be
As with Jimmy Neutron and his many specials, Steve Oedekerk shows true and under-appreciated comic genius. There are few as good as Oedekerk and company for satire in a cartoon vein, from The Right Stuff to Ocean's Eleven and everything in between, it's spot on farce. The characters are likable and truly individual. I would like to see more live action ensemble comedies as good as this, but I don't think the talent is out there (at least, not since Caddyshack.) Watch this. It's good for you, and it's good for your kids. Laughter is the best medicine. The most hilarious aspect are the comments of KillerKlownFromUranus above. He sounds exactly like Snotty Boy from the show, almost as if that repulsive, fat, oily, greasy, ignorant, loud mouthed, cowardly, ugly little pus head actually existed in real life. Life does imitate art, sometimes, doesn't it? If you don't like it, don't watch it.

A terrible spin off of a lousy movie.
There are 8 letters to describe this show, H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E. It is not at all funny, and is just stupid. It seems like farm animals and 8 year olds made up this show, because it's really stupid and terrible. It's about animals on a farm that like to party and goof off when the farmer isn't around. Not a good concept, which is why I think an 8 year old is the director. I never, ever laugh at this show, unless I'm laughing for not good reasons because the show is so stupid and boring. You do not want to watch this show, trust me, unless you are stuck with one channel on your TV and this is what's on, and even then I'd just find something to do by myself.

My Name Is Craig Tucker
My name is Craig Tucker and you should know it. I am making a review on this show which the street name or in which people call it "Back at the Barnyard" to share my deep thoughts and feeling on this show I am reviewing. Obviously you should have known that but since your reading this I guess you didn't so shame on you! I just had to explain that to you and I wasted my time and characters of this review on explaining that to you that so thanks a lot! But anyways now that I wasted my time I guess I can explain why I actually wanted to review this show. So basically what happened was. Anyways that's the end of my review.

An amazing anime for all to watch
Back at the Barnyard is an amazing anime that has changed my life. The characters, stories, and plot are all amazing. I especially liked the arc of Pip's back story.
This is without a doubt the best anime I have ever watched. It has cured my stage IV crippling depression and has also brought hope and meaning to my life. A must anime for everyone!

Getting Better, Not Amazing Though
My original review was mean. Yeah, this show is stupid. The farm animals do stuff when the farmer isn't looking. If you want something that might make you smile, watch the movie. The show has is moments. It has progressed with humor, but still cliché. Personally, I don't like the show or the movie much, but this is something you can watch if there really is "nothing on". Nothing special, that's why it doesn't play much. This isn't a show trying to be nominated for an Oscar, so just sit back and watch. Let loose and enjoy yourself. If you laughed, admit it. Just because the majority of the show may not make you laugh, don't be so negative. Think positve. If you laugh, at least say you did.

Hysterical and slapstick
This cartoon series is one of the zaniest and enjoyable out there. Most shows based on movies tend to be pale imitations, but the writers behind "Back at the Barnyard" series give it a silly yet entertaining life beyond the silver screen. There's lots of pop references (ranging from "The Dark Knight" to "Survivor" to "Star Trek" and humor that the grown-ups can enjoy, and enough oddball fun and jokes that the younger set can laugh at as well. Like a sophisticated sitcom, this show relies heavily on a strong ensemble effort, so it's carried by all major and minor characters. Not every episode is a laugh riot gem, but enough are that it'll grow on you.
My kids and I miss seeing this show but are hoping they'll release all the episodes on DVD soon.

It's a Hit and Miss
The movie was good and the episodes I've seen are okay. I mostly watched it because nothing else was on. I had a few laughs and it got really random at points like major WTF moments. If I had to pick between this and something else I probably wouldn't pick this unless it's a show I hate. I just wish it was more funny. I barely remember anything but that Mail segment and Dr Pig. Pig was the best character and the only memorable character. It's not bad tho its just a mindless time waster with some really funny moments. Pig really does carry the show. I can't really remember anything else from the song besides the theme song. The animation is great too for a middle 2000s CGI show. If it wasn't for the memes it'll probably been forgotten.

You're new favorite show! What more like you're new 1 least favorite stupid show
AWFUL...
Barnyard! No! More Like Stupidyard
This show is very bad, i've never seen anything worse than this garbage
Characters designs look extremely ugly Why can't they make better animation than this
Plot is horrible, keep copying this crap
This used to be the emoji movie until 2017
This crap can get taken off the air and get 1.8 on imdb
The characters like to s$×\£ pot, eat poop and drink pee
Do you know who likes this movie and show
Foster's home Bendy, even though i love Foster's For Imaginary Friends, but i hate this character and he wants to join the cast, but he can't because he's a troublemaker and a spoiled brat
Do you know who hates this movie
People from all around the 🌎 they wish they can rate this 0's and 1's on imdb
So ÷*×#£ Barnyard, and *÷*×_ Norm Of The North
Incredibles is so many times better than Barnyard end of rant
Next rant... Teen Titans Go your new favorite show

People often diss this show, and I just can't understand what's wrong with it. I'm not going to spend time arguing every point made, I'll just praise it: My little brother watches Nickelodeon, and as far as I can tell it just went down the toilet since the nineties. I used to love Spongebob and the newer episodes I've watched are godawful. So it does my heart good to actually laugh out loud at a new show. Though it's not as thoughtful as older shows, as I've grown my sense of humor has become more immature, and I can understand why people enjoy stupid stuff. My favorite comedy show now is probably Robot Chicken, which goes under fire for the fact that it's dumb. But what did people expect? But I'm not reviewing that. I'm reviewing Barnyard. Barnyard is ridiculous in plot, has mastered the art of "random humor," but still manages to have a decent storyline. It's like if Robot Chicken kept a plot as opposed to brief clips, but for children and not fart jokes (thank god, by the way. I actually hate fart jokes even though I like Robot Chicken, and am sick of all the fart jokes in kid shows). All in all, it hasn't disappointed me yet and I look forward to watching it in the future.

Just plain fun!
OK, this isn't Robot Chicken, but it is well written with spot-on pop references and nicely developed characters. Yes, Otis has an udder. No, I don't know why the "totally vegan" farmer keeps a farmyard full of animals (but it's nice to know my little animated friends are safe). The story lines actually keep me guessing, and the CGI is surprisingly sophisticated, especially for a TV show. Watching this show is a little like going to a Bowling for Soup concert - don't go into it expecting a deeply intellectual experience, just prepare for a terrific party!
Nick's new cartoons have been a mixed bag lately, with some uninspired entries (Tak and the Power of Juju) and some terrible ones (The Mighty B). This show is a welcome reminder of just how good Nick can be.

Compared to the film it was based on, it was a major improvement.
Very hilarious moments, such as Pig abruptly interrupting each episode to break the fourth wall in a humorous and charming way.
Otis' relationship with Abby the cow is very interesting to watch.
Plenty of likable characters, such as the main animals: Otis, Abby, Bessy, Pip, Pig, Freddy, Peck and Duke.
The theme song is very catchy.
Some endings are either really good or very funny.
Very intimidating main antagonists, such as Snotty Boy and Mrs. Beady.
Original and creative stories and plots, such as Otis, Freddy and Pig dressing up as girls and ending up dating Snotty Boy and his friends in the episode "Some like it Snotty".
Talented voice acting, especially from Wanda Sykes, Tino Insana, Cam Clarke and Rob Paulsen.
Great jokes.
Intelligent and clever writing.

I don't see what is so bad about this show
Just last night, I was replying to a thread on the Rockos Modern Life boards about Best and Worst shows on Nickelodean. And I was shocked when there were those who picked this as one of the worst, though not as shocked at how many people picked Avatar:The Last Airbender as one of the worst. Look, Back at the Barnyard is not Nickelodean's best not even close, I would pick Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, Doug and The Angry Beavers over this, but it sure the hell beats ChalkZone, Zoey101 and Rocket Power, and I truly think the gem that was once Spongebob has jumped the shark.
And I will be honest, I think this show is better than the movie. I didn't like the movie really, but despite some predictable moments and some parts where the humour went over my head, Back at the Barnyard isn't bad at all. The animation is colourful and better-modelled this time around, while the music is good too. The writing and humour are random but it is funny, and while the stories have their predictabilities they are at least interesting. The characters are much more likable this time too, and the voice acting I had little problem with either.
Overall, this isn't really a bad show. Not outstanding, but better than people make it out to be. 8/10 Bethany Cox

It's so funny, I've been addicted to this series for years
No doubt - as far as I'm concerned this series is in Top 10 of the best cartoon series I have ever seen, it is so funny and the plot is excellent, the characters tear from laughter to tears. It's such a shame that it ended with only 52 episodes, in my opinion it had huge potential. Maybe it's just for me, but the kind of humor in the series is exactly my kind of humor, so I became very attached to it. There is no doubt that today in 2017 I can say that she is even nostalgic, compared to the film I saw and he was nice but no more in relation to the series. Otis, Abby, Peck, Freddy pig,Dukas-they're all just great characters and they tearing from laughter to tears. We want more, so bad that the series ended in chapter 52 only. rate - 9

A good show
I used to watch this show when I was little and just like Invader Zim, I loved this show. Looking back on it the show is still pretty good. The only criticism I can give is Otis and the other male cows having an udder. Aside from that, I love this show.
