When finding the missing eagle devoid of its crew, Carter made reference to the Mary Celeste, the American merchant brigantine that had been found intact and abandoned on the Atlantic in 1872 (often erroneously referred to as the Marie Celeste).
When racing toward the eagles at the episode's conclusion, a female Alphan is shown to hurt her leg while running, then assisted by a fellow Alphan. This was an accident left in for realism.
Gareth Hunt was booked to play Pete Irving but had a disagreement early in filming with director Charles Crichton and walked off the set. He was replaced by Michael Culver. Quick shots of Hunt piloting an Eagle remained during the climactic evacuation of the planet.
