The success of Deadpool & Wolverine is largely due to its use of fan-favorite legacy characters and plenty of fan service. One big surprise for fans was the return of Chris Evans’ Human Torch from 2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
While those movies weren’t very successful, especially compared to today’s superhero hits, one thing people liked was how Evans’ flames looked.
In a YouTube video, a group of VFX experts called Corridor Crew reviewed CGI in movies. Around 14:41 in the video, they praised the fire effects for the Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Niko pointed out that the fire effects closely resembled those from the original Fantastic Four movies. To illustrate this, they showed a clip of Johnny Storm from those films.
Niko: Now the question I want to ask you guys, did they do the original ‘Fantastic Four’ fire effect?...

The success of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ can in large part be attributed to the presence of legacy characters and a generous amount of fan service. One character that fans did not expect to see in the movie was Chris Evans’ Human Torch who appeared in ‘Fantastic Four’ released in 2005, and ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ released in 2007.
Both movies were flawed and weren’t all that successful, especially when you compared them with today’s major superhero releases, however, one aspect of Evans’ character was praised even back then, his flames.
A group of VFX experts called Corridor Crew shared a video on YouTube reviewing good and bad CGI in movies. Around 14:41 in the video, they praised the CGI in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ especially the fire effects for the Human Torch.

Deadman is a character that is long overdue a live-action adaptation. We have been talking about him again recently as there have been rumors of an animated show possibly set in DC Studios' upcoming DC Universe. If that were to be the case, co-chairmen and CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have revealed before that characters in animated projects could indeed reprise the role in live-action Dcu projects.
With that in mind if the animated show does go ahead and Deadman finds his way to the Dcu in live-action form, who could play the role? Well, this writer believes that there's one name in the acting world that'd be a perfect fit to play Deadman, and that person's name is Doug Jones!

The Fantastic Four: First Steps wraps shooting this week and it seems the McU's Galactus, Ralph Ineson, is either finished or close to being done with filming his role as the Devourer of Worlds.
Taking to X earlier today, the actor shared what appeared to be our first look at the long-awaited reboot's take on Galactus. However, having recently realised that fans will jump on anything and everything he says about the MCU, the Nosferatu star soon shared a clarification.
Of course, those of you who caught the leaked trailer from D23 Brazil will have already seen Galactus and be aware of how close to the comic books this take on the villain is (a relief after Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer's infamous cloud in 2007).
It's hard to say when Marvel Studios will share an official look at The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It's not outside the...

There are few actors more synonymous with wonderful performances beneath layers of prosthetics and makeup than Doug Jones. Having appeared as Abe Sapian in the Guillermo Del Toro Hellboy films, the Creature in The Shape of Water, and even Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus, Jones has had a career that most actors simply dream of.
Doug can be seen in the recently released Nosferatu: Symphony of Horror, where he plays the title character; a role that Jones has wanted to play for decades. We spoke about the process of filming using elements from the original 1922 film as green screen backdrops, and how wonderful Max Schreck’s performance in the first film was. Doug is also starring in the final season of What We Do In The Shadows as The Baron, a role which has been an absolute highlight over the series’ 6 season run (and it was originally just supposed to be a one-episode cameo) Finally,...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is currently filming at Durdle Door in Dorset, England, and Joseph Quinn's Johnny Storm/Human Torch has been spotted in full costume.
Based on what little we see here, Johnny walks down the beach alone before moodily standing on the coast while watching the tide come in. It's hard to say where this is meant to be doubling for, though the Torch may have found his way to the UK. The iconic tourist location may also be doubling for an alien planet.
If we're lucky, the rest of Marvel's First Family will also be spotted suited up in the coming weeks. The only other member of the team spotted since shooting started is The Thing who, at the time, was being brought to life with a practical costume.

We went into Deadpool & Wolverine expecting the movie to close the door on the Fox-verse. Instead, it celebrated Earth-10005 and set the stage for that world to continue to flourish alongside Earth-616/the Sacred Timeline.
While we'd hoped for cameos, the threequel upped the ante by taking us into the Void before giving Elektra (Jennifer Garner), Blade (Wesley Snipes), Gambit (Channing Tatum), and X-23 (Dafne Keen) a second chance. It felt really special but has got us thinking...which other Earth-10005 heroes and villains deserve a second chance in the MCU?
This could be in an upcoming Multiverse Saga project (which seems most likely) or even in the softly rebooted MCU which is rumoured to be the plan for this shared world post-Avengers: Secret Wars. Hopefully, the names before surprise you!

Oscar Isaac has portrayed Moon Knight in the MCU, a character expected to appear in Secret Wars with most other heroes that have been introduced in the wake of Avengers: Endgame. However, Isaac might be in for some heavy work in Secret Wars the claims of an industry insider are true, owing to the fact that the actor is a part of the two other universes that have confirmed connections to the MCU.

The MCU has a packed lineup of projects set for 2025, 2026, and beyond. While several movies are currently in development and impacted by the strikes, none are as highly anticipated as Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which are expected to carry on the MCU’s tradition of grand crossovers.
Fans have high expectations for Secret Wars, with nearly a hundred rumored characters set to appear. We’ve previously covered speculation that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be among them.
The latest notable rumor involves a character who has only appeared in the MCU in a technical capacity—Reed Richards. As you may know, the Fantastic Four will officially join the MCU with the release of Fantastic Four: First Steps next year. Pedro Pascal will portray Reed Richards, while John Krasinski previously played a variant of the character in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

MCU has quite a lot of projects to release in 2025, 2026, and beyond. We know that there are several movies being worked on currently and affected by the strikes, but none of them are as anticipated as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ which are expected to continue MCU’s tradition of majestic crossovers.
Fans have plenty of expectations especially regarding ‘Secret Wars.’ There are close to a hundred characters rumored to appear in the movie, and we’ve previously discussed the rumor that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will also be included.
But the most recent significant rumor is tied to a character that appeared in the MCU only in the technical sense, and we’re talking about Reed Richards. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is over halfway through its Multiverse Saga storyline now and the endgame of it all seems clearer than ever. That's not because it's at the halfway point. The franchise had been having more downs than ups until earlier this year when the game-changing release of Deadpool and Wolverine was matched in its awesome response by the announcement that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the franchise as the saga's new major villain, Doctor Doom.
Anything is possible in the multiverse, including replacing your major villain with a new one (as Downey's Doom will now replace Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror), so bringing back the Iron Man star in a new role was doable. And as surprising as it was in many ways, in others it wasn't, because expectations are high for the upcoming two Avengers movies, with fans already expecting to see some major returns in...

Jessica Alba may have moved on from playing the Fantastic Four character Sue Storm. However, it looks like it still holds an extremely special place in her heart. After all, she had played the part perfectly in both the 2005 and 2007 films, Fantastic Four and its sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer. Although it has been years since the actress put on her stunning blue suit, the 43-year-old shone some light on her time with the MCU.

Laurence Fishburne isn’t looking to top himself when it comes to signing up for sci-fi projects like his new movie Slingshot.
The Oscar-nominated actor continues to be among the most in-demand performers in Hollywood and has starred in a wide range of features running the gamut in genre and scope. Hitting theaters this weekend from Bleecker Street is Slingshot, featuring Fishburne as Captain Franks, who leads a multi-year mission to Saturn’s moon Titan to obtain needed natural resources. Meanwhile, the voyage gets tense as fellow astronaut John (Casey Affleck) begins to lose his sense of reality. (The plot involves a major twist that won’t be spoiled here.)
Chief among the previous sci-fi projects in which Fishburne has made his mark is, of course, the Matrix trilogy, in addition to assorted other titles like Event Horizon (1997), Predators (2010) and Passengers (2016). Fishburne’s upcoming releases include other features that fall into that genre,...

In 2005's Fantastic Four and its sequel, 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, actor Michael Chiklis donned a practical costume to bring The Thing to life on screen.
It worked for the time, but in Josh Trank's 2015 reboot, Jamie Bell's take on the character was realised with visual effects. Now, we have a first look at The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Ever-Lovin' Blue-Eyed Thing!
Shockingly, he too appears to be practical; as of now, we don't know whether there's an actor - presumably Ebon Moss-Bachrach - in the suit or whether this is simply a stand-in meant to serve as a reference for actors and visual effects artists. Based on the few seconds of footage we have, it does look like someone's in there.
This being a stand-in perhaps makes the most sense, though a practical Thing could suit the Marvel Studios reboot's 1960s aesthetic.

Deadpool & Wolverine practically put a waning franchise back on the map, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film ever. This film not only cemented Marvel as a lucrative player in the R-rated film space but also brought in the most Marvel Legacy cameos that audiences have seen in the MCU.

Spoilers ahead for "Deadpool & Wolverine."
About a third of the way through Shawn Levy's big Marvel cameo reel "Deadpool & Wolverine," the two title heroes (Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman) find themselves in an alternate dimension nicknamed the Void. It's a desert wasteland populated mostly by actors and characters from moribund superhero franchises that were once owned by 20th Century Fox, but are now operating under the auspices of Disney. In one of the film's more fun cameos, a character played by actor Chris Evans steps forward to defend Deadpool and Wolverine from oncoming marauders. Deadpool recognizes him as Captain America, and is eager and giddy to hear him say his trademark Captain America phrase "Avengers, assemble!"
Instead, however, the Evans character shouts "Flame on!" He is, in fact, the Johnny Storm a.k.a. the Human Torch, the character Evans played in the Fox-owned "Fantastic Four" from...

The actress received positive reviews for her take on the character and, while there were some differences from the comics (and the odd occasion where Sue was relegated to "love interest" given the time those movies were made), Alba remains a firm fan favourite.

Taylor Sheridan’s new “Yellowstone” spinoff “The Madison” is adding three new cast members.
Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, and Beau Garrett are all set to star in the series, joining previously announced lead Michelle Pfeiffer.
“The Madison” was previously in development under the title “2024.” Per the official logline, the show is a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.” It is not yet clear if the show will debut exclusively on Paramount+ or start off on Paramount Network like “Yellowstone.”
Adams will play Russell McIntosh, described as “a young investment banker who has followed the life path set before him from the start.” Chapman will play Paige McIntosh, said to be “a somewhat self-centered woman who indulges in a luxurious New York lifestyle provided by her parents and investment banker husband.” Garrett will play Abigail Reese,...

Unlike other major Marvel IPs, Fantastic Four is yet to be done right on the big screen, and since Disney acquired Fox back in 2019, fans have been craving for them on the big screen. At last, a new adaptation, starring Pedro Pascal is finally heading our way next year.
Moreover, the film will also mark the introduction of the planet-devouring supervillain in the MCU, whose last live-action presence left fans less than thrilled. And from the leaked D23 trailer for Marvel’s First Family, fans are excited as unlike the 2007 adaptation, it’s more in line with the character’s comic roots.

Ryan Reynolds confirmed in a recent interview with Collider that he got in touch with Nicolas Cage and asked him to reprise his role of Ghost Rider in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The record-breaking Marvel blockbuster features a handful of actors reprising their comic book characters of yesteryear, from Jennifer Garner’s Elektra to Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm and Wesley Snipes’ Blade. Reynolds wanted Cage to join the film’s epic roster of cameos.
Asked if Cage was pursued to reprise Ghost Rider, Reynolds answered: “Yes.” The actor then added: “Came to a conversation for sure. Yeah, but no.”
Cage played Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider in two comic book movies: “Ghost Rider” (2007) and “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” (2011). The movies were released by Sony, whereas “Deadpool & Wolverine” featured cameos from actors who starred in Marvel movies that were developed and distributed by Fox, which is now owned by Disney.

After making a brief appearance in the 2021 action comedy “Free Guy,” Chris Evans told People he jumped at the opportunity to reunite with director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds to make a cameo in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
“It was a couple years ago and I got a text from Ryan, we’re buddies,” Evans said. “He just said, ‘Listen, if you don’t like this idea, no worries whatsoever. But I have something that could really bring the house down and would let you play a character from your past.'”
In the newest Marvel vehicle, Evans reprised his role as Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, which Evans played in 2005’s “Fantastic Four” and 2007’s “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”
“I mean, honestly, I would do anything Ryan asked,” Evans added.

Deadpool & Wolverine is packed with cameos, though one of the most memorable comes when Chris Evans makes his first MCU appearance since 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
While the threequel initially fools us into thinking the actor is playing a Captain America Variant, it's soon established that he's really the Human Torch. Long before being cast as Steve Rogers, Evans played Johnny Storm in 2005's Fantastic Four and 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Talking to People, the MCU vet said he didn't hesitate to accept Ryan Reynolds' offer of a role in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Probably the most awful thing that stuck out like a sore thumb from the previous Fantastic Four films was Galactus. The 2007 film reduced the iconic Galactus, a cosmic titan capable of consuming entire planets, into a mere, underwhelming cloud. As a result, fans were deeply disappointed by this downgrade of this character from what it was previously known as grand, intimidating, and majestic.

However, hopes were reignited when Ralph Ineson was cast as Galactus in the upcoming reboot. Early glimpses revealed at San Diego Comic-Con have sparked both anticipation among fans but also some doubts. The question on everyone’s lips is whether the MCU will once again stumble in its portrayal of this pivotal character.

When it comes to comic book adaptations, major franchises like Marvel and DC often face significant issues with their films’ reception, based on casting choices. Take for example the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, which struggled mightily with Michael B. Jordan’s version of Human Torch after Chris Evans’ charming portrayal of Johnny Storm.

After Chris Evans paved the way for his character as the Human Torch in the 2005 installment Fantastic Four and the 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, the 2015 reboot starring Michael B. For all the raunchy jokes, club drugs, buckets of blood and meta punchlines, “Deadpool & Wolverine” may be the most sentimental movie of the summer. Hollywood insiders and superhero film fans were stunned to discover that last weekend’s Marvel blockbuster basically amounts to a big, sobbing, “Steel Magnolias”-grade sendoff to 20th Century Fox.
After all, it was at that defunct studio, founded in 1935 and sold by Rupert Murdoch to Disney in 2019, that “Deadpool” first shimmied on-screen in a skintight bondage suit and pistols. It’s also where two decades’ worth of Marvel films were made, most notably the “X-Men” series, which catapulted Hugh Jackman to stardom. These characters first appeared in Marvel Comics but were licensed to Fox, leaving them operating outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe (the moniker for Disney’s film and TV Marvel adaptations). The merger with Disney changed all that.

On Saturday night, Marvel Studios took to Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con to announce that Robert Downey Jr. will play Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The news has received a surprisingly mixed response, largely because the Oscar-winner's portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man is so iconic.
In 2015's Fantastic Four reboot, Doom was played by Toby Kebbell but, back in the mid-2000s, Julian McMahon suited up as the villain in Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. However, you might have forgotten that the role nearly went to Downey in Tim Story's movies!

Fans were stunned by the news of Robert Downey Jr. returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to portray the villain Doctor Doom in two upcoming “Avengers” films. However, it appears that Downey’s involvement in the Marvel franchise as Doctor Doom may not be as surprising as it initially seemed.
In a video released by Marvel Entertainment last year, director Jon Favreau and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reminisced about the making of the first MCU film, 2008’s “Iron Man.” During their discussion, Favreau revealed that Downey had previously been considered for the role of Doctor Doom, a fact that had been largely overlooked by fans.
“I remember that Robert had come in for a general meeting on ‘Iron Man,’ and you had already met with him for Doctor Doom or something,” Favreau told Feige, who was an executive producer on 2005’s “Fantastic Four” and its 2007 sequel, “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Unsurprisingly, much of the discussion surrounding Deadpool & Wolverine, both positive and negative, has focused on the so-called cameos in the film. Is it simply fan service? Do we care about seeing those characters again? Are they the purpose of the movie? Does it say anything about us as a culture? The answers will naturally vary and lead to a vast amount of discourse, much of it exhausting.
Deadpool & Wolverine is being used as a litmus test for various things, art, commercialism, consumerism, and the capability to have fun or not. None of those tests are particularly interesting, and I’d argue they are outside of the parameters of what Deadpool & Wolverine is actually about, which is: who decides which stories matter?
Do you remember the first Marvel movie you saw? Maybe it was Blade (1998), Spider-Man (2002), Iron Man (2008), The Avengers (2012), or any of the other numerous comic...

Although many have already seen Shawn Levy's new superhero flick "Deadpool & Wolverine," there are still many who haven't, so be warned that this article will make direct reference to certain spoilers. You have been warned.
There are many, many superhero cameos in "Deadpool & Wolverine." Indeed, the cameos seem to be the single reason the film exists at all. Part of "Deadpool & Wolverine" takes place in a pocket dimension called the Void where dejected superheroes are imprisoned after the Time Variance Authority deems their continued existence to be too messy for the multiverse. This realm is populated mostly by characters culled from X-Men movies -- and other superhero features -- previously owned by Fox. Most of the humor in "Deadpool & Wolverine" is derived from insider-baseball knowledge of inter-studio character-rights wrangling, so seeing the Fox characters invade the Disney-owned Marvel Cinematic Universe will no doubt satisfy entertainment news obsessives.

Note: There are spoilers for “Deadpool & Wolverine” in the article below
“Deadpool & Wolverine” is finally here. It’s the epic superhero saga that has been teased since the “Deadpool” test footage that leaked ahead of the first movie’s production and it is very much worth the wait. Deadpool and Wolverine (a returning Hugh Jackman) are forced to team up to save Deadpool’s universe from a rogue Tva middle-manager named Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) and Charles Xavier’s psychotic sister Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin).
And along the way they meet a few friends …
As soon as “Deadpool & Wolverine” was announced, the assumption was that the film would be a cameo-palooza, full of characters from both the mainline Marvel Cinematic Universe and from the vestigial universe established by the 20th Century Fox franchises, with “X-Men,” “Fantastic Four” and others.
But who shows up in “Deadpool & Wolverine?” To answer that,...

Deadpool & Wolverine is packed full of jaw-dropping cameos, though at least one was revealed in advance by Marvel Studios. In the threequel's final trailer, we were treated to a glimpse of Hugh Jackman's reunion with X-23 actress Dafne Keen after they last shared the screen in 2017's Logan.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, The Acolyte star confirmed director Shawn Levy reached out to her about playing Laura again with the idea being that "she brings a lot of humanity and empathy to [Wolverine's] character."
Breaking down her pivotal scene with Logan when she inspires him to join the fight against Cassandra Nova, Keen recalled:
"Imagine losing your only father figure in life, only to reunite with your father almost ten years later, but he doesn’t know that you are his daughter and he doesn’t have that bond with you in return. So it’s...

This article is nothing but non-stop Deadpool & Wolverine spoilers!
A key appeal to Marvel movies remains their cameos, as anyone who recognizes Stan Lee’s million-dollar smile will tell you. But Deadpool & Wolverine takes it to another level, as one would expect for Wade Wilson’s first entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper. Deadpool doesn’t just drag Wolverine into the fray with him for this one. No, he is bringing the whole Fox X-Men universe along for the ride, or at least as many of the B-listers and off-shoots from thereabouts that only the most hardcore of nerds or terminally online will remember.
Deadpool & Wolverine has room for MCU mainstays too. Wunmi Mosaku reprises her role as Tva agent B-15 from Loki; the Avengers show up on monitors (and in clips from older movies); and most of Deadpool’s supporting cast has a at least few scenes,...

Marvel Studios is not intending to play around after the sub-optimal run that the brand has been dealing with lately. Not only is the studio proudly touting around its just released Deadpool & Wolverine with a surprise Sdcc screening along with cameo guests but upon the company’s return to Hall H, some Fantastic Four teasing would be in the cards for the fans. Pedro Pascal had recently released a wholesome group photo of Marvel’s first family as the cast members for Matt Shakman’s upcoming The Fantastic Four had recently gotten together.
Now, Deadline reveals that our world has gotten a little preview of what it’s like when the grand-scale villain of The Fantastic Four looms over the San Diego sky. Marvel would give fans a display of an illuminated drone show, which came together to form the shape of Galactus, the planet-eating threat of the Fantastic Four comics.

There was all sorts of buzz as to what the surprise would be at the end of Thursday night’s screening of Deadpool & Wolverine in Hall at Comic-Con.
We heard that Deadpool and Wolverine were returning in a new X-Men movie, and there was word of a choir coming out to sing Madonna’s “Like a Prayer.” None of that happened during the first of two Comic-Con Hall H panels for Marvel Studios.
Instead, Kevin Feige, Marvel’s president and producer, told the crowd to look to the skies at 9:45 p.m. At that time, a Merc with the Mouth-themed drone show took place, ending with the reveal that Fantastic Four and Galactus would be at the studio’s big Hall H panel on Saturday night.
Galactus appeared over San Diego’s Petco Park via drones as his great god-being. The drones soon re-arranged to make up the iconic Fantastic Four ‘4’ symbol.
