Luke Hemsworth has joined the cast of Australian cop comedy Deadloch‘s second season on Prime Video.
The actor has been filming in his native Australia, joining leads Kate Box, Madeleine Sami, Nina Oyama and Alicia Gardiner in the comedy series, which has been hit for Amazon’s streaming service.
Hemsworth will play Jason Wade, creator and star of ‘Jason Wade’s Adventures Down Under’ and the owner of ‘Jason Wade’s Land of Crocs and Other Animals’ Wildlife Park.
The show follows Dulcie (Box) and Eddie (Sami), a pair of mismatched detectives. In the new season, they are investigating the death of Eddie’s former policing partner, Bushy. When a body is discovered in a remote town, they are flung into a new sweatier, stickier investigation.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2, The Book of Carol, ended with Daryl and Carol heading through the Channel Tunnel. Looking ahead to season 3, the duo will end up on English shores for the first time ever, marking the first time the franchise has visited that part of the world.
The Daryl Dixon season 2 finale was an action-packed, crazy hour of television. Fleeing France, both Daryl and Carol made their way down the dark and cavernous Channel Tunnel — once the railway that went between England and France — where they encountered myriad troubles. The zombies down there had become veiny, mutated messes, unlike anything we've seen before. Moreover, toxic gasses meant our duo were hallucinating throughout their journey.
But by the end of the episode, it's presumed that they make it to England safe and sound... well, still alive, at least. That's exactly where the season ends. Looking ahead to season...

Rashida Jones, who played the lovable yet unlucky Karen, was left hanging in the original storyline as Jim dashed back to Pam. But in this alternate version, Karen finally scored a win—a moment that would’ve given her character a more satisfying send-off.

It’s considered in poor taste to slam a movie if you’re in a position where your opinion might matter. We don’t mean critics here but rather stars and directors – it’s why someone like Quentin Tarantino purposely avoids giving his take on new releases, so as not to cast a shadow on an aspiring filmmaker. John Krasinski found this out when he quietly ripped apart a film back in 2019, with none other than Paul Thomas Anderson straightening him out – and it wasn’t even one of his own movies!
Paul Thomas Anderson – who was a big enough fan of Krasinski’s third film, A Quiet Place, to host an awards season screening of it – gave The Office star a bit of advice on the matter, lest he end up saying the wrong thing to the wrong person. “I’ll tell you a big life lesson. "The Big Bang Theory" officially concluded in 2019 after 12 years and the same number of seasons — but will it ever get another season? Why didn't it keep going? Here's the real reason.
According to Jessica Radloff's book "The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series," Warner Bros. released a statement in 2018 confirming that the show would end after its twelfth season ... despite the fact that, as Radloff wrote, other outlets had all but confirmed season 13. Ultimately, fans learned that Jim Parsons, who played Sheldon Cooper throughout the entire series, wanted to leave "The Big Bang Theory" behind despite apparent shock and anger from his coworkers like Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco. So, what happened here?!
It was true: Parsons decided that, both personally and professionally, he didn't want to play Sheldon Cooper for another season...

It’s no secret that The Office has been remade time and time again in various countries all over the world. In addition to the original U.K. version, and the beloved American take, there have been officially-sanctioned Office remakes in Poland, India and Brazil, just to name a few.
If there’s any takeaway from the global appeal of this premise, it’s that shitty bosses and awkward romances are as pervasive in offices as beige walls and soul-crushing fluorescent lights.
Now there are two new international versions of The Office — a recently announced Mexican adaptation, and the Australian remake that came out earlier this month, both of which are being released on Amazon Prime Video.

Exclusive: Kylie Washington has just overseen the launch of three BBC television mega brands in Australia, and readily admits the pressure has been on. The BBC Studios Anz General Manager and Creative Director of Production knows new versions of Death in Paradise, The Office and Top Gear require full attention to succeed, especially with buyers hesitant to put their hands in their pockets and more willing than ever to pull the trigger on disappointments.
“From my personal BBC Studios perspective, we’re on a great run,” says the Sydney-based exec. “We have commissions across the majority of networks with a very broad mix of genres. You never know which runner will have its moment in the light, so it’s important to be the best at all of them, to play to your strengths.”

Well, here we go again. The Office — the still-influential mockumentary sitcom created in 2001 by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant — returns in yet another regional guise. Like any good expanding business looking for mass market penetration, this series has had international branches in almost every time zone: there’s been Le Bureau in France, Konttori in Finland, Os Aspones in Brazil. But The Office, Australian edition, is significant for being only the third English-language take, after the original British vintage and the all-conquering American version, which ran for nine seasons and remains one of the most streamed shows of all time.
All of which begs the question: why would we need another one? Surely by now, most people in Australia will have already seen this workplace comedy in either its British or American iteration? Not to mention the fact that, post-pandemic, the physical bricks-and-mortar...

Throughout its nine-season run, the fan-favorite show, Steve Carell’s The Office, became known for its unique brand of humor. The sitcom often balanced awkwardness, a whole lot of cringe, and a few heartwarming moments to get the perfect show.
But there was one episode that even the cast found rather difficult to film due to its extreme level of cringe — the now-infamous Dinner Party episode from Season 4.

When Community Flipped Classic Sitcom Tropes on Their Heads – A Game-Changing Moment! ( Photo Credit – Prime Video )
Back in the glory days of Thursday night TV, Community wasn’t just a sitcom—it was a deliciously meta-wrecking ball to the whole genre. While The Office, Parks and Recreation, and 30 Rock played the hits, Community dove headfirst into chaotic paintball wars, alternate realities, and a talking ass-crack bandit. Oh yeah, it got weird. And that’s precisely why we loved it.
Dan Harmon, the mad scientist who later cooked up Rick and Morty, was the brains behind this bizarre brilliance. The show kicked off with Joel McHale’s Jeff Winger—Mr. Slick Lawyer Guy was forced back to school because his degree was as fake as a plastic plant. Mexico is getting its own remake of “The Office.”
“La Oficina” comes from Prime Video, Amazon MGM Studios and Gary “Gaz” Alazraki’s Máquina Vega, the companies announced Wednesday. It will be based off the cult hit BBC series starring Ricky Gervais that blossomed into the U.S. spinoff starring Steve Carell. Alazraki will serve as director and executive producer on the series, with Marcos Bucay as showrunner.
The show takes place in Aguascalientes at a family business called Jabones Olimpo. The office is run by Jerónimo Ponce III and like many bosses in these series, he’s in over his head. The rest of the employees are forced to deal with the headache of working for an unqualified manager.
The series is the latest remake to use the comedy mockumentary format. Prime Video – where “La Oficina” will stream exclusively in Latin America, Brazil and Spain – already launched an Australian version.

If you're a fan of the Michael Keaton cult classic holiday movie Jack Frost, you're going to adore Netflix's new Christmas romantic comedy Hot Frosty (out Nov. 13), which (as the title suggests) involves a sexy snowman coming to life. What are the holidays without a little magic?
In Lacey Chabert's first ever Netflix original Christmas movie Hot Frosty, the star plays a widow named Kathy who has been grieving her husband's loss for two years. When she unexpectedly helps animate a snowman that's designed to look like a conventionally attractive man, she soon begins to fall for Jack, the charming snowman turned human played by Dustin Milligan.

New data from Parks Associates highlights the successes streamers have had in moving viewers to ad plans.
Streaming providers have accomplished something that all businesses wish they could do at will: change customer attitudes. Streamers have affected a big change in feelings regarding ads; there was a time when streaming customers thought ads were a thing of the past, and it was unthinkable that services would start forcing customers to watch commercials with their on-demand content. Now, a new survey from Parks Associates shows that customers are increasingly accepting of ads, as well as the reason behind their willingness to accept commercials.
Key Details: On average, 57% of customers of Max, Netflix, Disney+, Discovery+, Prime Video, Paramount+, Hulu, and Peacock are ad-supported customers. Viewers increasingly see ad-supported plans as a good way to give a streamer an initial try. The survey also shows the increased efficacy of bundled streaming products. Comedy actor Steve Carell perhaps has a penchant for playing unhinged characters that get on people’s nerves. From his iconic role as the egocentric Michael Scott in The Office to his appearance as Trent in the 2013 comedy-drama The Way Way Back, Carell seemingly proved that he likes playing the hilarious jerk in films and shows.

But while audiences might consider his characters overbearing to a point where they seem funny, Steve Carell had a different perspective on his roles. Following his appearance in The Way Way Back, alongside Toni Collette, wherein people considered his character Trent as an antagonist, Carell offered a rather deep insight into his role.

We generally don’t expect sitcom cast members to be involved in global political controversies, hence why stories about the Cuban Missile Crisis featured zero references to Rob and Laura Petrie from The Dick Van Dyke Show. But earlier this year, it was reported that an alleged Russian disinformation campaign targeting the former Soviet republic of Moldova enlisted the help of Dunder Mifflin’s resident accountant/chili handler Kevin Malone, aka actor Brian Baumgartner.
This week, Moldova held a national referendum and ultimately voted to pursue membership in the European Union. The “Yes” vote passed by “the slimmest of margins” — just 50.39 percent. Meanwhile, Moldova’s President Maia Sandu won the first round in the presidential election, but didn’t meet the “50 percent margin needed to avoid a runoff.” The “pro-Western” leader blamed the poor numbers on “unprecedented assault on our country’s freedom and democracy” by “foreign forces.” And at...

In the Season 6 premiere of “What We Do in the Shadows,” Laszlo (Matt Berry) has to spare a few moments to praise the virtues of the name Jerry the Vampire (Mike O’Brien).
“That was us trying to save our asses,” showrunner Paul Simms said at the show’s PaleyFest panel on October 19. “Jerry the vampire is the worst name. But in the writers room we were like ‘Okay so there’s a fifth roommate — Jerry or something, Jerry the Vampire,’ and then we just never got around to changing it.”
Simms shared that the idea for Jerry grew out of a growing list of unanswered questions in the writers room and how they could be addressed so far into the show. Why do vampires permit the presence of a human documentary crew? What will the footage be used for? When will they conquer the New World?

Data from Parrot Analytics shows that ‘Yellowstone’ drove more subscriber acquisition for Peacock this year than any other TV show..
“Yellowstone” continues to be one of the most popular shows on television, despite the fact that it’s been nearly two years since new episodes of the series aired on Paramount Network. The Western drama centering on the Dutton family and their Yellowstone ranch in Montana is about to return with the second half of its fifth season, but they won’t be available to stream right away, as it will be a few months before you can stream them on-demand on Peacock. A new survey from Parrot Analytics shows just how important the blockbuster show is to Peacock, and highlights where customers who sign up to the service to watch it are coming from.
Key Details: Parrot found that “Yellowstone” accounted for 3.71% of all customer acquisitions between January and August.

The Office certainly has some of the most hilarious moments across its nine seasons. With this in mind, many cannot help but wonder what moment was even too much for the cast to keep their cool.

Jenna Fischer spoke about her decision to keep doing the Office Ladies podcast while keeping her breast cancer diagnosis private, as well as the advice she got from fellow survivor Christina Applegate, in a new interview on Today.
The conversation with Hoda Kotb (also a breast cancer survivor) marks Fischer’s first major chat since revealing she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Positive Breast Cancer earlier this month. While Fischer is now cancer-free, last year The Office star underwent a lumpectomy to remove the tumor, followed by chemotherapy and radiation.

The Office ran for nine seasons but for many, it ended with Steve Carell’s walk-off. The World’s Best Boss resigned from his job and moved to Colorado with Holly Flax, leaving a question mark on Dunder Mifflin’s fate. Unfortunately, not only did the seat in his office suffer after his exit, but so did the sitcom. While there were some good moments here and there, seasons eight and nine were above average at best.

While his heart was in the right place, we aren’t sure if it worked well in The Office’s favor.

The Office created a major sensation in the mockumentary sitcom genre in 2005. The public was still reeling from the conclusion of Friends, so it gave them the much-needed alternative for their laughter-filled evenings. Based on the British series of the same name, it starred Steve Carell as the lead Michael Scott. After its conclusion in 2013, fans were excited about the possibility of a reunion or a reboot.

Steve Carell snagging the role of Michael Scott over a Breaking Bad star? Yeah, that twist might sound crazy, but once you dig into Carell’s philosophy, it all starts making sense. Back when The Office was hunting for its lead, Carell didn’t just deliver laughs—he brought a whole vibe, a depth that went beyond slapstick.

When the US version of The Office was first announced, the reception to it wasn’t initially great, as fans of the Ricky Gervais show weren’t convinced if the Steve Carell-led version could live up to the original. Two decades later, Aussie star Felicity Ward has found herself in a similar position, as fans of the US version, especially that of Michael Scott, aren’t too thrilled about the new reimagining with a female boss at the center.

When one thinks of Steve Carell, it is very rare to imagine him without a smile on his face. The actor is, perhaps, one of the most well-respected and talented comedy actors in the world. He starred in project after project and portrayed iconic characters like Michael Scott, Gru, and Andy Stitzer, all with a comedic tone blanketing his performance. However, how many of his viewers truly know of his talent?
Steve Carell in The Office | Credits: NBC
When the smile off Carell’s face falls, it breaks every comedic bone in his body, and he goes from a comedian to a true actor. The best example of this would be Beautiful Boy, where he played the role of David Sheff, a father who has to help his son, Timothee Chalamet, come out of his addiction.
However, there is only one film that helped the actor get an Oscar nomination; Foxcatcher.

“New Office. New Aussie boss.”
That’s the tagline for the new Australian version of The Office, that launches Oct. 18 on Amazon Prime Video everywhere, except the U.S. The latest iteration — the thirteenth different country version of the BBC workplace sitcom created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant that incredibly first hit screens in 2001 — has garnered a lot of chatter on social media, YouTube and in the global press, not least because it is another accessible English-language adaptation that follows the beloved British and U.S. versions, but also because it is the first adaptation that features a female boss.
The set-up to the Aussie Office follows the tried and tested franchise formula: the mockumentary style, the boredom, the assortment of odd ball characters, the will-they-won’t-they office romance, and of course the overconfident, delusional boss lacking in self awareness. There are several aspects of the US sitcom The Office that are insane – Steve Carell being one of them, in Oscar Nuñez’s opinion. But often, the rest of the cast steals the spotlight for their overly exaggerated behavior or iconic comedic timing.
Consequentially, Jim Halpert’s classic pranks and Dwight Schrute’s borderline eccentricities might be too good to pass up. But it was often the love-obsessed Kelly Kapoor or the uptight Christian cat lady aka Angela Martin who came out as the day’s highlight.

If you have that one insufferable friend who keeps begging you to watch The Office and insists it really picks up in the second season, believe them because they’re absolutely correct! While the show is based on a British version, it quickly carved out its own unique identity and became even more beloved than the original.

And a big part of that success can be attributed to Steve Carell’s character, Michael Scott. Initially, the first season received mixed reviews, but it was Michael’s quirky and often cringe-worthy antics that really brought the series to life.
Why UK Humor Didn’t Click with US Audiences for The Office
Cut from the same cloth, the UK and US versions of The Office ended up being two very different shows! While the first season of the US version tried to...

Seasoned French-Swedish producer Patrick Nebout has inked a co-production pact with German powerhouse Odeon Fiction (Netflix’s “Kitz”) to jointly develop and produce the eight-part English-language dramedy “The Studio.”
The murder mystery and movie industry spoof will be Nebout’s first production for his Stockholm-based Dramanation, a boutique outfit specialised in the creation and packaging of quality European scripted dramas and features with a global appeal.
Under the agreement between Dramanation and Leonine Studios’ banner Odeon Fiction, the German outfit’s exec producer, head of international co-productions Britta Meyermann, will executive-produce and oversee the production alongside Nebout.
Currently in development, “The Studio” is the brainchild of Nebout and his long-time creative partner Henrik Jansson-Schweizer, writer of the duo’s much anticipated satire “Whiskey on the Rocks,” ordered by Swedish pubcaster Svt and Disney +. Their earlier hits include the Oscar-nominated pic “The Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed out the Window and Disappeared...

Last month Hwei Loke was upped as the new head of Amazon Prime Video Australia and New Zealand, ahead of perhaps the territory’s biggest ever local originals launch, the Aussie version of The Office, which debuts everywhere except the U.S. on Oct. 18.
Loke, a 15-year marketing veteran who has had stints at Disney, Australia’s Sbs and Nickelodeon, takes the reins at Prime Video Anz as the company basks in the critical glow and global ratings success of a number of recent local originals, including the Aussie noir comedy Deadloch (boasting a 100 percent Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes and ranking in Prime Video’s Top 10 TV shows in more than 165 countries, including the U.S., the U.K. and Canada) and the Sigourney Weaver-starring drama The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart (Prime Video Anz’s biggest local release globally to date that reached the top five overall...

Is Peacock about to solidify its sports lineup with regional sports networks? That’s the report from The Wall Street Journal.
According to the article, Peacock will begin offering NBC-owned RSNs in early 2025. That makes Peacock much more attractive for sports fans in Boston, Philadelphia, and California. Currently, the NBC-owned RSNs are only available on Directv Stream, Fubo, Hulu Live TV, and YouTube TV. Peacock would offer those channels at a far lower monthly price.

Peacock would likely offer these channels for an additional price on top of the normal subscription. We don’t know if all viewers in an area would have to pay for the channels whether they watch them or not.
One of the big problems with the regional sports model is that all subscribers in an area have to pay the fees when paying for a live TV provider. If...

When it comes to network television, shows often find their success by anchoring couples for fans to fall in love with. But it’s Chicago Fire’s friendships that set it apart.
Don’t get me wrong, Chicago Fire has had its fair share of popular ‘ships: Stella Kidd and Kelly Severide (Stellaride). Sylvie Brett and Matt Casey (Brettsey).
There’s also Trudy Platt and Randall “Mouch” McHolland (Plouch), and my personal favorite: the Herrmanns (Christopher and Cindy).
(NBC/George Burns Jr.) Romance is Great, but It’s Not Everything
No one can deny the importance of a powerful couple in a popular TV show.
What would Grey’s Anatomy have been without Meredith and Derek?
Can you even imagine The Office without Jim and Pam or Parks & Recreation without Leslie and Ben?
Sans David and Patrick, Schitt’s Creek would have been a much less heartwarming show. The same goes...
