Marseille 1957: the city welcomes many political refugees from the Mediterranean basin. Jeanne is one of those Spaniards who fled the Franco regime at the end of the 1930s. She is married and the mother of a little girl, works in a soap factory and leads a peaceful life. But one day, Jeanne is asked to pass leaflets in her factory to Algerian workers. She accepts, and her gesture gradually becomes a commitment. She then meets Ali Redjala. He is an activist of the FLN, who initiates him and gives him new tasks. The increasingly active collaboration of Jeanne in the conflict, leads her to multiply the meetings with him. Trouble sets in between them.
