- TriviaThe voting system was changed this year. Each country could only vote for three songs, giving 3 points to their favorite song, 2 to the second and 1 to the third. The low amount of points being distributed resulted in being the first year with countries that ended with 0 points. Four countries ended with no points in their scoreboard: Belgium, Spain, Austria and the Netherlands. This is the highest number of countries ending with no points in a festival tied with 1963, 1964 and 1965.
- GoofsLightning failed several times in the auditorium during the competition. Several performances were partially done in complete darkness, and there was a complete electrical blackout right after the French song that lasted for several minutes during which the transmission was completely paused except for the commentators sound in each participating country, until light went back and the competition could be resumed.
