This stylish post apocalyptic view of the future, highly regarded as a forerunner for the Cannes Palmd'Or, leaves the viewer slightly unsettled to say the least. The possibility of a future ruled by the iron fist of heartless women, fueled by their hatred and contempt for their male subordinates is far too realistic. I found this movie to be deeply unsettling. Without giving too much away, the movie starts in a cryogenics lab and we soon realise the past that the cryogenics client left behind is far far different to the one he has been re-animated to. Enter our hero, Patrick Coyle. His character is a fantastic realisation of a futuristic slave, striving to shed the shackles of his feministic oppressors. We follow his journey as he encounters old friends (the o'Donoghue clan) and people from his past he would rather forget (Eklund). Neil Featherstonhaugh puts a sterling performance of a street urchin, while Ruadhan o'Donoghue's rectum sniffing street scene is a cinematic gem. I would highly recommend this film to anyone with even the slightest interest in film as a whole.
