Regardless of whether or not you liked the film, Deadpool and 20th Century Fox delivered the best marketing campaign in years, from initial teasers right up to the Cialis spoof for the Blu-ray release, which came out this week.
Let me say up front that I was never a fan of the Merc with a Mouth from his introduction in 1991 through his overexposure in the comics the last few years. He’s the answer to DC’s Ambush Bug and breaks the fourth wall so often that you just can’t take or his adventures seriously. Seeing him operating an Avenger today is staggering since it forces him to be a grounder player which operates against where he works best.
The film recognizes this and treats him as a live action Wile E. Coyote so there’s a manic feel from the first frame to the last. Everything is there short of the Acme anvil.

If you’ve ever tried to explain the show Doctor Who to someone it probably was very similar to the conversation in this clip between producers Sydney Newman (played by Brian Cox) and Verity Lambert (played by Jessica Raine) for the origin story An Adventure in Space and Time. Although I’m pretty sure the last 50 years time has encompassed more of those monsters into the show. Check out the clip below.
Clip: An Adventure in Space and Time – No Bug-Eyed Monsters
An Adventure in Space and Time, starring David Bradley, Reece Shearsmith, and Claudia Grant, airs November 22 at 9/8c on BBC America.

There's quite a cast building for the upcoming adaptation of "Bug" and "Killer Joe" scribe Tracy Lett's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony-winning play, "August: Osage County." Of course, there's the powerhouse teaming of Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, but on top of that, names like Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Cooper, Dermot Mulroney, Margo Martindale, Abigail Breslin, Juliette Lewis and more are also on board the film, which will see John Wells ("The Company Men") direct. Now, there's another name to add that prestigious list with vet Sam Shepard joining as the alcoholic patriarch of a dysfunctional Midwest family whose disappearance teams up the strong-willed women of his clan, forcing them to confront unspoken truths and long-held secrets. And the steel behind the film doesn't end there either: George Clooney and Grant Heslov will be producing through their Smokehouse...

Following last week's relative snoozer, this week's True Blood once again had chicken-fried batsh*t on the menu, with all sorts of minor revelations and developments adding up to one complicated humdinger of an episode.
Strap on your bib and let's dig in!
We start off with a shot from the Channel 5 Vampcam - new vamp (and newly-exfoliated) Tara (Rutina Wesley) is wandering around in the woods gazing at the sky and looking at squirrels. Ah - I get it - becoming a vampire is just like that time I ate mushrooms and went to the planetarium. Now it all makes sense! She runs from Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and ends up almost eating a girl with a flat tire - but she sees her own vampy reflection in the windshield, apologizes, and scoots off. She's pretty fast for someone who's so hungry, isn't she? She must have grabbed a Snickers.

In an unprepossessing brick block, in an equally nondescript industrial estate on the West of London lies the factory and headquarters of Brompton Bicycles. It's tucked behind a Mercedes-Benz van depot, and I only know I'm in the right place because there are about five pretzel-shaped hunks of metal parked outside the door. Oh, and a bunch of twentysomething testers in slogan tees, bouncing around doing bunny hops and the like on recently finished Bromptons. It's like E.T., but without the alien.
A rangy guy in desert shorts and steel toe-capped work boots approaches. "Nice bike," he says over his shoulder as he walks through the front door. Later on, I learn that he says this to everyone--even the engineers working on the line. I wonder if the joke has worn a little thin. He is Will Butler-Adams, the CEO of Brompton, and the guy who has taken...
