[This story contains spoilers from the first season of Prime Video’s Cruel Intentions.]
If you were a young adult in the late ‘90s, you almost certainly knew Sean Patrick Thomas.
Before he was Jimmy James in the Barbershop franchise, spent four seasons as Detective Temple Page in CBS police drama The District or, more recently, portrayed Gene Mobley, partner of Mamie Till and father-figure to Emmett in Till, the sharp-jawed, warm-eyed actor had carved out his own corner of YA drama success.
During that time, he would star in films like Save the Last Dance and Halloween: Resurrection, roles that would follow his memorable turn as Ronald Clifford in Roger Kumble’s Cruel Intentions. Thomas took on the role of the music tutor to the rich, naive and virginal Cecile Caldwell (Selma Blair), with whom he falls in love with before their relationship is sabotaged by the ruthless, scheming step-sibling duo of Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe...

The small screen adaptation of 1999 teen drama Cruel Intentions will stream on Prime Video next month. Here’s the trailer.
Cruel Intentions, written and directed by Roger Kumble, is a seminal teen film of the 1990s, planting the plot of Dangerous Liasons firmly in late twentieth century American youth culture. It boasted star making turns from Selma Blair, Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon. It’s also the film that helped launch the big screen career of Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Now, Cruel Intentions is heading to the small screen in a fresh modern take courtesy of Amazon Prime Video. Many versions of a television adaptation have been attempted in the past, including a 2016 pilot which saw Gellar reprise her role, but ultimately none of them gained any traction. A second film, Cruel Intentions 2, was edited together out of two completed episodes of a cancelled television prequel series called...

"I'm just trying to figure out how everything works around here..." Prime Video has revealed the full trailer for Cruel Intentions, a 2024 update on the 90s movie of the same name. Ready to view in November if anyone wants to watch. This is the 3rd attempt at a TV series based on the world of Cruel Intentions (1999) which was adapted from the French novel. The straight-to-video sequel Cruel Intentions 2 (2000), with Amy Adams replacing Sarah Michelle Gellar, was originally a scripted series before being re-edited into a feature. Gellar would later reprise her role as Kathryn in 2016 for the NBC pilot Cruel Intentions (2016), which was not ordered to series. After a hazing incident at their elite college, step-siblings Caroline and Lucien set about to preserve their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. Amazon Prime Video’s Cruel Intentions series has dropped its first trailer, and we get our first proper look at the updated take on the cult 1999 film that starred Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Selma Blair.
In the clip, we see the focus of the series, the machinations of privileged step-siblings Caroline Merteuil (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien Belmont (Zac Burgess), who run Greek life at Manchester College, an elite Washington, D.C., university. The pair find themselves in trouble after a hazing incident goes wrong, and attempt to lie, deceive and seduce their way out of bother.
The cast also includes Savannah Lee Smith, Sara Silva, Khobe Clarke, John Harlan Kim and Brooke Lena Johnson. Sean Patrick Thomas, who played Ronald Clifford in the original film, plays Professor Chadwick in this version.

After 25 years, several direct-to-video sequels and a failed pilot, a new generation is getting the Cruel Intentions treatment.
On Thursday, Prime Video debuted the first trailer for its series adaptation of the 1999 teen movie, all eight episodes premiering Nov. 21 on the streamer, bringing a familiar tale of deception to a new locale with all new characters.
The trailer has some nostalgic callbacks to the hit 1999 movie, including an upbeat cover of The Verve’s ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, a familiar black convertible and an even more familiar rosary necklace with an unholy hidden secret.
Also consistent with the original, the series features a very indecent wager between affluent stepsiblings Caroline Merteuil (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien Belmont (Zac Burgess), who rule the Greek system at Manchester College, their Washington DC-adjacent university.
But when a hazing incident puts their charter in jeopardy, Caroline enlists Lucien’s help to get the US vice...

NBC has decided not to move forward with the “Cruel Intentions” TV series, TheWrap has confirmed. NBC bought the script in October with a commitment plus a penalty from the film’s original director and writer Roger Kumble. He co-wrote the project with Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross, best known for staging the musical version of “Cruel Intentions” in Los Angeles last summer. Kumble previously tried to bring “Cruel Intentions” to TV with a series called “Manchester Prep.” It was scrapped by Fox prior to the airing of the first episode in 1999, due to scenes that included female masturbation amongst other things.

Last week, fans of Sarah Michelle Gellar delighted at the news that she'd be reprising one of her most popular characters on a new TV series. Realistically speaking, that news was probably followed immediately by the clarification, "No, not Buffy and no, not Kendall Hart, but one of the others ones," but it's still reason to be excited.
Cruel Intentions stood out from the rest during the late '90s teen movie boom. It was nasty, it was sexy and it was fun – and as manipulative bad girl Kathryn Mertuil, it let Gellar flex some acting muscles she didn't get to use on Buffy.

If the fate of Sebastian Valmont and Annette Hargrove's child was still bothering you sixteen years after the release of "Cruel Intentions," good news. There's going to be new TV show focused on just that very story. Deadline reports that the film's original writer Roger Kumble (who directed the straight to video "Cruel Intentions 2," and lots of TV) is teaming up with Lindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross ("The Unauthorized Musical Parody Of Cruel Intentions" stage show) are teaming up to bring a new series to NBC that picks up where the first movie left off. The drama will center around the teenage Bash Casey, who discovers his Dad's diary, and endeavors to learn more about the family legacy. And so, prep school beckons, and plays, sex, money, and power follow. I dunno, sounds like your average soap opera to me, with or without the name "Cruel Intentions." Is there...

This also happens to TV executives when ordering shows.

I’ll admit I have a soft spot for the scarecrow film. Ever since I was terrified by a TV screening of Dark Night of the Scarecrow back in the 80s, I’ve seen just about every scarecrow-related film going – even those that should probably have never seen the light of day! So of course I Had to see Scarecrow. Even moreso given that it’s (yet another) Canadian genre film and it stars Robin Dunne, an actor whose career I’ve followed ever since I saw him in Cruel Intentions 2 (yes, I liked that film – even more than the original).

The messed-up machinations of bored, oversexed stepsiblings Kathryn Merteuil and Sebastian Valmont aren’t quite as shocking in 2014 as they were when Cruel Intentions was released on March 5, 1999. (Blame Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and a zillion other glitzy/scandalous imitators.)
That said, Cruel Intentions is still an enormously entertaining teen movie, even 15 years (gulp) after its initial release — thanks to an uncommonly sharp script, a killer soundtrack, and, most importantly, an impeccable cast, which featured future Oscar winners and future Sharknado stars alike. Tagline: "Welcome to the Family." Filmax International is also developing the slasher film Torment. From director Jordan Barker (Duress), this film is still in production through Gearshift Films. Shooting is taking place in Canada and the film hosts a few Canadian actors. Isabelle can be seen in an early still for the film (below) and a strangely hooded killer is seen in the film's early poster (left). The film's story involves a couple, Sarah (Isabelle) and Cory (Dunne), out on holiday, with their young son. Though, someone or something has been staying in their old country house. Now, Liam (Peter DaCunha), the son, is missing. Both Sarah and Cory must fight for their lives against an entity, which has come straight from hell. Pre-production on this slasher film is likely...

There is no doubt that Amy Adams is full of surprises. She can be sexy when she wants to be (see Cruel Intentions 2), or she can slap a smile on your face with her comedic performances (see Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby ), and she is no slouch when it comes to a dramatic turn (see The Fighter). So we can only guess what type of performance we'll get when we finally see her as the new Lois Lane in Man Of Steel. Will she be as witty and sarcastic as Margot Kidder's Lois? Or, will she be as determined and competitive, with a hint of sweetness as Erica Durance's Lois? Let's just hope she isn't as forgettable as Kate Bosworth's Lois Lane in Superman Returns. Agreed! What is more scary a violent slasher, or a film that feeds paranoia about big companies and corrupt governments? Toxic Skies has a premise that incorporates capitalist deception and a disease that is brought about by chem trails. Chem trails are the deliberate release of chemicals at high altitudes to detoxify, or toxify the general public below. In the movie, Ranbir abandons America to return to India to pursue his political ambitions. The movie, which also stars Ajay Devgn and Katrina Kaif, is about a political election and the tricks that the candidates will stoop to in order to achieve their goals.
Probably Sarah’s best film to date was The Pink Conspiracy with Bradley Snedeker in which Dave, the hero, stumbles across what he believes is a conspiracy in which all his previous girlfriends have joined together to drive him crazy (most men also suspect this is happening). Now, if only he could prove it.

If you were wondering who the blonde girl in Raajneeti's promos is, she's 30-year-old Sarah Thompson Kane, who plays Ranbir Kapoor's American girlfriend in the film. In the first look of the film, Sarah's character is described as "an innocent who wanted nothing, but lost it all". Indeed, the buzz is that in the film, the Us-returned Ranbir abandons his girlfriend to continue his family's political legacy. Sarah's decade long career in Hollywood includes many films and TV series including Cruel Intentions 2 and the 2008 biopic Hansie. The actress is said to have been selected after multiple round of auditions to select the right face. It's the first time Ranbir will be doing the jig with a non-Indian lady, onscreen, of course!

I remember the first time I saw Amy Adams in a movie. She was among a cast of women who, at the time, were a little more well known in the amazing dark comedy, Drop Dead Gorgeous. (Should we now compare careers: Adams vs. Denise Richards, Kirstie Alley or Brittany Murphy? I still think Allison Janney and Ellen Barkin pull out ahead, though. Kirsten Dunst is wavering, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt she'll make a good career choice again soon.)
But back to Amy, whose career has taken off since she played the cheerleading-pageant-hopeful with a horny boyfriend in Ddg. Since then, she's been up for an Academy Award for playing a suspicious nun in Doubt, Amelia Earhart in Night at the Museum 2, a crime-scene washing sister to Emily Blunt in Sunshine Cleaning, and her newest part in Julie & Julia is alongside Doubt co-star and all-around actress-extraordinaire Meryl Streep.

If Robin Hood is such a great hero you'd think he'd be able to work in some monster fighting in between all his robbing from the rich to give to the poor. That's why all Robin Hood movies in the past have sucked: lack of monsters. Thank goodness we have the Sci-Fi Channel around to rectify such mistakes.
I'd first heard about Robin Hood: Beyond Sherwood what seems like ages ago. It's only just now that progress is being made. Working from a script by Chase Parker, the writer of such other Sci-Fi offerings as Basilisk: The Serpent King, Reign of the Gargoyles, and the all-time classic Boa vs. Python, actor-director Peter DeLuise ("21 Jump Street", "Stargate Sg-1") helms this ultimate tale of merry ol' England's favorite tights-wearing, forest-dwelling, arrow-shooting, always-sticking-it-to-the-man swashbuckler as he squares off with a fiendish monster brought forth by the Sheriff of Nottingham, now in the post-production phase.
