The review by user 'darbar' said it all. This movie: - is radically different (in a good way) from all other tamil movies - contains excellent acting by everyone. I thought Kovai Sarala especially carried the movie forward very well - doesn't involve the usual over-the-board acting or script as is common in other tamil movies - has an *excellent* script by Crazy Mohan - does not include an outlandish plot, scenes or dialogue, as is common in other tamil movies - has an excellent sense of comedy, both spoken and acted - is worth watching multiple times All in all, as you can see, it's the complete opposite of most other tamil movies. Watch it!

Classic film with amazing performances by both Kamal Hassan and Ramesh Aravind. Kovai Sarala is also at her best in this movie and is responsible for quite a lot of the laughs as well. Story is simple enough but as with other Crazy Mohan + Kamal movies the misunderstandings is what makes this movie so good. Definitely would recommend anyone to watch it. I just wish it could be in a higher resolution, the quality is very low but it doesn't distract from the performance.

This movie is one of the few tamil movies that are worth watching multiple times. The movie has to be watched closely and is not your everyday indian masala movie to watch while you do your usual chores.
Kovai Sarala and Kamalahassan have done an amazing job with their Coimbatore (kovai) tamizh accent. There are absolutely no unnecessary scenes and the humour is clean and neat. Thanks to Crazy Mohan's dialogues. This is rare in the current thamizh movies. Illayaraja has done his job in the two songs and the background score which is very apt. Kamalahassan has for once not "hogged" the screen and acted according to Balu Mahendra's direction.
Sathi Leelavathi is one of my all time favourite films.

Sathi Leelavathi is one of the Kamal Haasan-Crazy Mohan combo's most successful ventures. For a change, Kamal Haasan is not the hero of this movie. He plays a supporting character as an orthopaedician speaking a Coimbatore Tamil accent, with Kovai Sarala as his wife. This movie is directed by Balu Mahendra who, a decade back gave the memorable 'Moondram Pirai'(Remade as 'Sadma' in Hindi) with Kamal. Sathi Leelavathi is a joy ride throughout. The first half is rip-roaring and the second half has its share of sentiments, family bonding and of course a happy ending. Later it was remade as 'Biwi No.1' in Hindi starring Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan.
A must watch!

With it's simple story line, this is a fully packed family drama with comedy. The last 15 mins of the movie is extraordinary with only the dialogues playing all its role. I wonder if ever a movie like this can ever be made in tamil.
