A small group of thrifty fishing families from the North Sea move to a small parish by the Limfjord. Here people are richer and have a milder faith. The immigrants from Indremission do not care that the bakery is open on Sundays and that there is dancing and drinking at the inn. The fishermen's leader Thomas Jensen also strongly criticizes the local pastor Brink, who does not understand the immigrants' confrontational attitudes: "Is it right to create discord in a parish where people have lived in peace and tolerability until now?".

The saints are settling into their new parish by the Limfjorden. But the Røn family is finding it difficult to cope with the day and the road, and for Laust Sand and his stepdaughter Adolfine it is even worse - she is with child. Anton Knopper proposes to Kathrine from the inn, but she must be saved first. And then pastor Thomsen comes home from the west and guest preaches in the church.

It's summer, and the fishermen go on a trip to see the North Sea again. Here, Anton proposes to Andrea, who hopefully can become a good wife for him. The rebellious Tabita is sent to the market town, where she has to be a maid of the house. Thomas Jensen and the new parish council encourage Brink to apply for office in another parish, but the pastor from Grundtvig will not give way to the fishermen from Indremission.

Pastor Brink gives up the fight against the saints and moves from the parish - the inner mission pastor Terndrup takes over the office. After disagreements about the right to eel farms, an unchristian fight with Søndenfjord fishermen ensues. With several of the families, there is the prospect of increasing the family.

The fisherman Laurids sets minds ablaze when he dances with both Kathrine and Mariane. And the saints recognize that they have sinned by getting into trouble with the Søndenfjord fishermen. Tabitha suddenly appears when she is with child - to her mother's great sorrow. But if God can forgive, can't humans too?
