When hanging out with your nerdy pals, there's a chance that one question will enter the conversation: "Which is the superior Hollywood Chris?" Most of your friends will be "Saturday Night Live"-avoiding Chris Evans fans since he's the All-American hunk, while others might side with "Extraction" franchise star Chris Hemsworth, as he's the perfect blend of a Golden Retriever and a Ken doll. And though there are other stars named Chris to choose from (including the dinosaur-fighting Pratt), there's one Chris that deserves the most respect: Chris Pine.
With his classic-meets-avant-garde aesthetic, Pine represents those who color outside the lines, enjoy lavender lattes with an extra shot of espresso, and listen to live recordings of Fleetwood Mac on rainy days. He's a performer who is immensely talented as an actor but also possesses the kind of dreamy singing voice that is impossible not to swoon over. Plus, Pine isn't afraid to laugh at himself,...

With a filmmaking career extending to 35 years, the Romanian-born, Israeli-raised director Shimon Dotan (Repeat Dive, The Finest Hour, You Can Thank Me Later) will bow his latest film in U.S. theaters next month. The Settlers present audiences with the harsh reality that Jewish people who live along the West Bank face today. After earning acclaim following its Sundance Film Festival debut and appearance at New York Film Festival, the U.S. trailer has now arrived.
“Partisans on both sides of the conflict will find plenty to argue with, as would be the case with almost any movie on this topic,” Variety‘s Ben Kenigsberg writes. “The real achievement here is in going beyond the buzzwords of newscasts and talking points to convey a sense of what’s happening on the ground — and to give it a sense of urgency.”
Check out the trailer below and return for our review ahead of the theatrical release.

Directed by Craig Gillespie (Million Dollar Arm, Lars and the Real Girl), The Finest Hour is a true story of a dangerous rescue mission staged by the Boston Coast Guard in 1952. Chris Pine dons a thick accent for his role as a Coast Guard agent sent out into the storm to rescue a rapidly sinking tanker that’s been cut in half by the treacherous conditions, and Casey Affleck is the captain in charge of keeping the remaining members of his crew safe. Here’s the full synopsis:
On February 18, 1952, a massive nor’easter struck New England, pummeling towns along the Eastern seaboard and wreaking havoc on the ships caught in its deadly path, including the SS Pendleton, a T-2 oil tanker bound for Boston, which was literally ripped in half, trapping more than 30 sailors inside its rapidly-sinking stern. As the senior officer on board, first assistant engineer Ray Sybert...

Following in the footsteps of every major movie studio and setting release dates for two and three years into the future, Walt Disney Pictures has recently updated its release schedule to include Pete’s Dragon and Ghost in the Shell alongside some minor adjustments to the release dates for some of its other major films.
First up is Pete’s Dragon, which is about to head into production with a cast that includes Robert Redford and Bryce Dallas Howard. It will open August 12, 2016, putting it opposite Universal’s Dirty Grandpa and Legendary’s Spectral. Sounds like August 2016 will bring something for the entire family.
Ghost in the Shell will not see the light of day until April 14, 2017, which is hardly surprising given that Scarlett Johansson has only just signed on to lead the film. Right now it remains the only film in that spot in April, but it’s still...

• After taking a break from the franchise, Orlando Bloom has revealed that he has been in discussions to return as blacksmith-turned-pirate Will Turner in Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Johnny Depp has already signed on to reprise his Oscar-nominated performance as Captain Jack Sparrow in the fifth film of the Disney series, which seems to be what has sealed the deal for Bloom. Norwegian directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are taking the commands of the ship from a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). The film is scheduled for a July 2017 release date.

Recently, I've been seeing rumors around the internet that Daniel Craig's fourth James Bond film will also be his final Bond film. I don't know if that's true or not (because it's only rumors). One night, while I was watching Goldfinger, I started coming up with an idea for what could be Craig's last Bond film. There's a very strong possibility (and by very strong, I mean 99.9999999%) that my Bond film will never get made. Still, I thought I'd write it out and share my ideas with you guys. Title: The Finest Hour-- This is only a working title I came up with. I conceived it before I came up with the plot or anything else. Now, in hindsight, I don't like the title so much. But until I can come up with a new one, The Finest Hour is the working title. Plot: Before...

Well, (almost) three months have gone by since the Boston Marathon bombing and that's apparently a respectable enough period of time for Hollywood to sit back before getting their fangs into this one. Right? Well, whether it is or isn't, this was bound to happen sooner or later. So yes, a movie about the terrifying event is on the way because cinema seems to be where America likes to heal its wounds. Deadline reports that the pens behind David O. Russell's "The Fighter" -- Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson - have snapped up the rights to a yet-to-be-published book by Casey Sherman and Boston Herald reporter Dave Wedge about the bombing, and the subsequent manhunt for the Tsarnaev brothers responsible for the crime. This will be a reunion of creatives of sorts as Tamasy and Johnson have previously penned an adaptation of Sherman's book "The Finest Hour," a rescue...

Walt Disney Pictures has acquired the movie rights to the bestselling book, The Finest Hours, an inspirational true rescue story by Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias. The novel will get a screenplay adaptation by Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson who recently worked on the Mark Whalberg boxing film, The Fighter.
The Finest Hour tells the story of a daring Coast Guard rescue off Cape Cod in 1952. “Two oil tankers were torn in half by treacherous waves during a deadly nor'easter blizzard. There were four rescue efforts, including two undertaken by a handful of men on two old, wooden, motorized 36-foot lifeboats. The men understood they had no business fighting frozen gale winds and seas but went anyway in an attempt to rescue the 84 men who were floating on halves of the cracked and sinking oil tankers.”
It amazes me sometimes, the things that people will do in extreme circumstances to help people.
