Paramount has released 8 new motion posters today for the hotly anticipated live action version of Ghost In The Shell. The anime adaptation, due for release March 31st, has been gradually gaining buzz following its impressive Super Bowl teaser trailer and with just over a month to go until it debuts, excitement is, understandably, quite high.
The new motion posters feature Scarlett Johansson’s Major Motoko Kusanagi, the first “full body prosthesis” cybernetic human, and the seven members of her elite Section 9 special ops team, played by Takeshi Kitano, Danusia Samal, Pilou Asbaek, Yutaka Izumihara, Lasarus Ratuere, Tawanda Manyimo and Chin Han.
The film, which appears to closely hew to the 1995 anime original, follows Major and Section 9 has they hunt for an enigmatic hacker known as the Puppet Master. A cut above most anime, Ghost In The Shell takes an imaginative and intelligent look at identity in an increasingly technologically advanced society.

Around this time last month, I wrote a piece about superstar editors Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey (the duo have worked together for some time now, their latest project being little movie directed by a guy named J.J. Abrams called 'The Force Awakens') and also Margaret Sixel, the Oscar-winning editor who was responsible for stringing together the chaotic audio-visual symphony of "Mad Max: Fury Road." The piece alluded to a larger point, which is that women have played an integral role as film editors throughout the history of the medium. This goes all the way back to the pictures of Arthur Penn (think “Bonnie and Clyde” and “Night Moves,” cut by the great Dede Allen) and goes well into the later half of the 20th century with giants like Sally Menke, Quentin Tarantino’s go-to editor who worked on every film of his save for “Django Unchained” and “The Hateful Eight...

The Portland Mavericks baseball team were more than just mavericks. They were outlaws. In 1973, Hollywood actor Bing Russell roared into Oregon and established the Mavericks as an independent minor league team, meaning he had to recruit players that the Major Leagues franchises had rejected, a scrap heap that included a fair share of burn-outs, head-cases, and outright degenerates. “Guys were gambling in the back of the bus, there was drugs, there were women everywhere,” says Oscar-nominated director Todd Field (Little Children). “These guys were pirates.”

Before Matthew Modine became an actor and starred in movies like Vision Quest and Memphis Belle, he dreamed of becoming a painter. It was the back-up career he never needed after a solid 30-year career of memorable roles on film, television, and the Broadway stage. But he never lost his artistic eye, which proved useful in other creative pursuits, beginning with his collaboration with Stanley Kubrick on 1987′s Full Metal Jacket. Modine documented that complicated production experience with still photography, and working with the esteemed director of 2001 and A Clockwork Orange inspired him to try his own hand behind the camera.

Several months after they launched a reality production company together, Jay McGraw, Dr. Phil McGraw, Jay Bienstock and Eugene Young have set up several projects. “My father and I decided that we wanted to make a real effort to get in the broadcast space,” said Jay McGraw, executive producer with Phil McGraw of daytime syndicated talk show The Doctors, a spinoff of Phil McGraw’s Dr. Phil. The two teamed with veteran unscripted producers Bienstock and Young to form Ghost Mountain Prods. The idea behind the company is to “take things that work well in the daytime space but we think would work better in primetime and move those concepts to primetime,” Jay McGraw said. The first project from Ghost Mountain Prods. to hit the air is Cracking Addiction, a special for TLC, which premieres tomorrow night. It stems from an episode of Dr. Phil featuring the first live TV...

Forget dragon tattoos. Body of Proof gave us a girl with a wicked dragonfly tattoo this week. Unfortunately, no matter what her body art, she still ended up on a slab in the morgue.
The medical students in "Gross Anatomy" were only slightly less annoying than their obnoxious professor here. I hated the fact that he had bedded Kate back in the day. She was certainly young and blind but I'm certain she's always been worth more than this arrogant jerk.
Why does Kate have such poor taste in men? I wish they'd either give her a decent love interest or just let her stay single.
It looked like one piece of Peter's anatomy overrode the other. To think, I was so proud of him when he stopped Dani's advances. I don't have anything against Dani. She's the sexy little devil in disguise and as much fun as Peter's bound to have,...

Even the title sequence tells you this is Sarah's story.
We open on Robert, shirtless, in bed with Kitty, who’s fully dressed, since they’re playing Scrabble. Nope, that’s not a euphemism. I’m sad to report that the tanned senator is in the beginning stages of what my aunt calls “old man chest” where it all starts to slide down a bit.
Dear Rob, please keep your shirt on, and I’ll keep imagining you have the body you did in St. Elmo’s Fire. Which was also before makeup gave you the open heart surgery scar because that's not exactly hot either.
Ask Mariah, Rob - you don't let them shoot from just any angle.
After Kitty spells “tumor” with Robert’s letters, they fight over him continuing his campaign as opposed to being her “chemo buddy” which sounds like something you could get arrested for.

Ok, so we open on an anatomy lesson between Justin and Rebecca, and I’m starting to think this is going to be a running gag on the show, him using her as his personal med school anatomy doll. I’m fine with the bones, but when we get to the internal organs, can we just not have a visual on that?
And I’m actually Ok with them constantly pawing at each other – they are the young ones on the show, and that’s what I’d expect. I find it totally in character.
Speaking of in character, that’s what the show was tonight, and I’ll be giving credit where credit is due – this felt more like the Brothers & Sisters I fell in love with, because the dynamic is shifting back to the family, and the relationships between the family members,...

Hitting bookstores across the country on June 2nd, is the first book in a horrifying trilogy co-authored by horror-meister Guillermo del Toro and thriller/mystery award-winner Chuck Hogan. The Strain is but an introduction to some of the most horrific vampires to be seen or read about in Quite some time (apologies to those folks who enjoy the romantic vampire novels – not my thing). Just imagine what horrors del Toro could come up with, multiply that by 100 and you Might be close, And add into that all the facts and reality that only a thriller writer could come up with and you have what might be The horror novel of the summer.
