Three matches referred in the movie correspond to reality:
- Milan-Inter 0-1 (Oriali, 69'), October 25, 1981;
- Turin-Juventus 1-0, October 25, 1981;
- Cesena-Naples 1-3, October 25, 1981 (in the movie it's reported as Naples-Cesena 3-1);
- Milan-Juventus 0-1 (Virdis, 66'), October 4, 1981.
The scenes of the match Inter-Milan are of the real match, played on October 25, 1981 in Milan. Also the radio commentary of the match Turin-Juventus is the genuine one from the same day, commented by Sandro Ciotti of RAI, although the failed penalty of Turin and the goal of Juventus are inversely reported. These two matches are the only two correctly reported ones of that match day when Franco (Diego Abatantuono) checks his Totocalcio ticket: the other ones correspond (but not with all the correct results) to the match day of November 22, 1981.
Diego Abatantuono performed the song Eccezzziunale... veramente from the movie soundtrack at the 1982 Sanremo Music Festival, in front of international music stars like Kiss, Stray Cats, Bee Gees and Van Halen.
Inter hooligan Sandrino is played by actor Renato D'Amore (who retired from acting in the 1990s), who stated in a 2016 interview to be actually a huge fan of AS Roma, as being in real life from Rome and not from Milan (indeed, in the movie he is dubbed by Luigi Montini).
The actors playing the Inter fans Franco Alfano (Diego Abatantuono), Massimo (Massimo Boldi), Teo (Teo Teocoli) and Ugo (Ugo Conti) are actually huge AC Milan fans.
