  [Then with a strained smile she walks towards her mother and the elevator] 

  Ann Stanley : Peter is going to drop us off, but he won't be able to come up, because he has a date that he forgot about.

  Maud Ericson : Oh?

  [She turns toward Peter, who has been formulating an idea] 

  Peter Latham : I play poker every Wednesday evening.

  Maud Ericson : Trina,

  [with disapproval in her tone, moves over to sit beside Trina on the couch] 

  Maud Ericson : I'm sure Peter has told your mother exactly what he wants.

  Peter Latham : Oh, yes,
