Around the 15-minute mark, Anthony Richmond puts a cigarette in his mouth and lights Maria's cigarette. In the next shot, Anthony's cigarette has disappeared.
The latter part of the screenplay revolves around getting a newly executed will "registered", and a lot of tension is built up around whether this can be done in time. The new will has already been executed (formally completed) and properly witnessed. There is no requirement in English law to have a will "registered".
