As wealthy business tycoon Branko Kadic prepares to marry his former secretary, Kristina, Stefan and Anastasija, his children from his previous marriage, arrive in Belgrade for the ceremony - as does Kristinas's old flame, Momcilo. Things get even more complicated when Momcilo's old friend, Vukasin approaches him about forming a business partnership. But Momcilo is loyal to Branko -- until Vukain's plans are sabotaged and it looks like Branko was behind it. Momcilo, on the other hand, also has family problems - his wife Lidija is being treated in a mental institution, while with his daughter Manja, Momcilo fails to form a relationship. And all because of his long business absence on Branko's project in Africa.

As Branko and Kristina recite their wedding wows, Vukasin arrives with a gun determined to get revenge. Ognjen pursues Anastasija even though she's more interested in his uncle. Momcilo quits his job with Branko, to work with Vukasin.

The honeymoon is cut short when Branko's business runs into trouble.Kristina has trouble dealing with the household staff. Vojin Konstantinovic has a proposition for Anastasija, and Stefan goes to work for Momcilo Bjelic.

While Stefan's ex-lover, Viktor, arrives in Belgrade and begs Stefan to come back to New York, Anastasija and Ognjen jet off to get married. Branko's chauffeur, Mihailo, secretly tries to help his boss by bribing a banker.

When Branko throws an elaborate dinner party and invites Momcilo in hopes of luring him back to Kadwest. Momcilo tells Kristina he still loves her. Stefan befriends Momcilo's emotionally unstable wife, Lidija.

Mihajlo finds out about Vojin's deal with Anastasija and tells Branko, and Momcilo's daughter Manja, has an encounter with a boy at school who says she's going to end up as crazy as her mother. Stefan and Lidjija share a kiss.

As Stefan's anti-gay co-workers continue to taunt him, Veselin decides to take him to a bordello. Branko attempts to save his business by putting key holdings in Kristina's name. Kristina pawns an expensive piece of jewelry to help Momcilo.

As Branko angrily tries to discover who helped Momcilo, Momcilo discovers his own worker was paid by Branko to sabotage the construction site and blame it on Stefan. Blake goes into a rage when he finds Kristina's birth control pills.

Mihajlo tells Anastasija that Kristina sold the jewelry and gave the money to Momcilo. Lidija picks up a young man at a club, but when she changes her mind and calls Stefan to come get her, they end up spending the night together.

Stefan decides it's time to make some changes, so he moves out of the mansion then tells Branko he'll come work for him. Manja finds out her mother slept with Stefan, and Branko has Mihajlo beaten after learning he slept with Anastasija.

Mihajlo tells Branko that Kristina sold her earrings and gave the money to Momcilo. Ognjen is so outraged when learns about his uncle's deal with Anastasija that he makes a drunken scene at Vojin's birthday party with Vojin's new girl.

Viktor arrives back and meets Lidija to talk about Stefan. Fed up with Branko's games, Kristina leaves. Stefan also plans to leave Viktor, but Viktor tracks him to Kadic mansion where their good-bye hug leads to disaster.

Kristina returns to stand by Branko after he's arrested for Viktor's murder. When the prosecutor pushes for a murder conviction Anastasija testifies that Viktor tripped and hit his head, but then Stefan takes the stand and accuses Branko.

Back at the mansion tempers erupt over Stefan's testimony. When Lidija is called to the stand, to reveal her affair with Stefan, Momcilo is outraged and attacks Branko. But all this is just a warm-up to the prosecution's surprise witness.

Aleksandra testifies against Branko and proves that he can be a violent man. Lidija awakens in the hospital and discovers Momcilo has run off with Manja.

Branko is sentenced. Aleksandra's true colors show when she moves into her old studio on Branko's property and their hatred for each other is evident. Tension rises as Branko tries to talk to Stefan. Kristina discovers she's pregnant.

After Lidija is released from the hospital, she attempts suicide. She's saved by Branko's friend doctor Nikola Toskovic, who has a secret vendetta against Branko. Aleksandra confesses to Stefan that Branko isn't Anastasija's real father

Aleksandra confesses to Branko that he's not Anastasija's father and urges him to reconcile with Stefan. Branko learns that his associates don 't like dealing with an accused murderer. Aleks reveals to Vojin that he is Anastasija's father.

As Stefan recovers at home,he and Branko reconcile. Kristina's ex-brother-in-law, sends his stepdaughter, Ana Marija, to stay with her. Aleksandra hires a P.I. to uncover Kristina's past,and Vojin puts pressure on Branko to repay the loan.

In order to repay the loan, Branko gets the money from gangster Rajic. Ana finds comfort in Stefan's bed. Vojin organizes a hunt on his ranch. Aleks spots Kristina on horseback. With premeditated shot, the horse throws Kristina.

Kristina is devastated after learning that she's not only lost the baby, but she can no longer have children. Anastasija continues her affair with Nikola. Although Stefan and Ana Marija spent time away, he asks Lidija to marry him.

Branko hires Ognjen to help him find Rashid Ahmed. Aleksandra meets with Rashid in Dubrovnik,a former lover. Anastasija learns she's pregnant, makes plans for abortion.Aleksandra persuades Branko to come to Dubrovnik under false pretenses.

Traveling to Dubrovnik, Branko phones a despondent Kristina in another attempt to get her to see the psychiatrist Nikola Toskovic. Consumed with jealousy over Kristina, Anastasija tells Ognjen their marriage was a business arrangement to benefit Branko and she only became pregnant to compete with Kristina. Kristina becomes shattered over suggestive photos that appear in a tabloid of Branko and Aleksandra together in Dubrovnik. Nikola comforts Kristina and passion soon ignites.

Kristina stops Nikola before they sleep together, but Nikola confesses his love for her. She tells him she won't cheat on her husband. Branko returns and explains the photos were not what they seem. Stefan spends all his time with Ana Marija and decides to be a race car driver. Ognjen tells Branko that Anastasija is about to have an abortion. Branko rushes to the abortion clinic to stop it. Meanwhile: Rajko Bonic comes to persuade Branko to sell the rest of his football team.

Stefan and Ana Marija are enjoying their time together away, until he asks his mother Aleksandra to help him finance his new race car passion, which she refuses, which makes Aleksandra upset and asks Anastasija for help. Aleksandra goes out of her way to make Kristina believe that an affair happened in Dubrovnik. Nikola persuades Kristina to leave Branko. To make matters worse Rajko Bonic, a representative for Lazar Rajic, interferes in the business as he tries to issue orders to Branko's football team. Branko tries to persuade Anastasija and Ognjen not to divorce. Branko begins to suspect that Nikola has something against him.
