Exclusive: The Institute, MGM+‘s thriller series based on the 2019 Stephen King novel, has rounded out its cast. Brendan Beiser (The Boys) is set as a series regular, and Mary Walsh (Resident Alien) and Jordan Alexander (Gossip Girl) have been tapped for recurring roles in the series from director/executive producer Jack Bender, writer/executive producer Benjamin Cavell and MGM+ Studios. Production will begin in Nova Scotia later this year.

Stephen King‘s novel The Institute (which can be purchased Here) reached store shelves on September 10, 2019 – and that same day, it was announced that David Kelley and Jack Bender, the duo behind the King series adaptation Mr. Mercedes, were working on a limited series adaptation of The Institute. Nearly five years have gone since then and Kelley has dropped off the project along the way, but The Institute is moving forward at MGM+ – and Deadline has learned the names of eleven more cast members who have signed on as series regulars. Brace yourselves: “The Babadook” is back.

The beloved horror feature, which marked Australian filmmaker Jennifer Kent’s directorial debut, will return to theaters courtesy of IFC Films and Iconic Events Releasing to celebrate its 10-year anniversary.

“The Babadook” infamously centers on widow Amelia (Essie Davis) who struggles to parent her 6 year-old son Samuel (Noah Wiseman), especially due to his disturbing outbursts. Yet when Samuel tells his mother that he’s been dreaming of a murderous monster, it turns out he might be trying to save them both. Enter creepy storybook “The Babadook” and Samuel’s visions just might be stranger than fiction after all.

Daniel Henshall, Tim Purcell, amd Tiffany Lyndall-Knight also star in the 2014 indie film that was produced by Kristina Ceyton and Kristian Moliere. The executive producers were Jan Chapman, Jeff Harrison, Jonathan Page, and Michael Tear. “The Babadook” featured cinematography from Radek Ładczuk and first debuted at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.

Created and executive produced by Guillermo del Toro, the anthology series Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities is now available to watch in its entirety, as all eight episodes have been released through the Netflix streaming service. And director Vincenzo Natali would like you to know that there is a black and white version of his episode Graveyard Rats on there as well. You just have to go searching for it a little bit.

Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix horror anthology series “Cabinet of Curiosities” (originally titled “Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight”) has added F. Murray Abraham, Ben Barnes, Elpidia Carrillo, Essie Davis, Hannah Galway, Crispin Glover, Demetrius Grosse, David Hewlett, Andrew Lincoln, Tim Blake Nelson, Luke Roberts, Sebastian Roché, Glynn Turman and Peter Weller to its cast. The prolific Academy-Award-winning Mexican filmmaker behind “Pan’s Labyrinth,” “Hellboy,” “The Shape of Water” and “Pacific Rim” will executive produce, co-showrun and direct the series — described as a curation of eight unprecedented and genre-defining sinister narratives meant to challenge traditional notions of horror, ranging from the macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy. Two of the eight tales are original works by del Toro.

The streaming platform also announced that Panos Cosmatos (“Mandy”), Jennifer Kent (“The Babadook”) and Vincenzo Natali (“Hannibal”) will write and direct singular episodes for the show, which has started production in Toronto.

Netflix has announced cast members — along with the writers and directors — for Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, its anthology series from the Oscar winner that’s set for next year.

Essie Davis, Luke Roberts, Andrew Lincoln, F. Murray Abraham, Glynn Turman, Ben Barnes, Elpidia Carrillo, Hannah Galway, Crispin Glover, Demetrius Grosse, David Hewlett, Tim Blake Nelson, Sebastian Roché, and Peter Weller have joined the cast.
