Well, stories of models foraying into mainstream cinema are not uncommon anymore. The latest to join the bandwagon is Shiva Dagar who has been bitten by the Bollywood bug. Dagar was one of the top 12 finalists at the Gladrags Man Hunt & Mega Model - which has given us stars like John Abraham & Dino Morea in the past. Having bagged his first Bollywood project 'Missing on a Weekend', Dagar will be directed by the super talented Abhishek Jawkar.
Dagar has been a known face on the fashion circuit, having walked the ramp for several reputed brands like Blackberry and
Lambhorghini and has recently done a Lux commercial with superstar Shah Rukh Khan
. Bollywood was always on the horizon - it didn't happen by chance', he says. Dagar went through rigorous acting, action and dance training. He was noticed by the assistant director of the film on a social networking site and was later asked to audition for the role.
Abhishek Jawkar's directorial debut, 'Missing on a Weekend' is an investigation thriller and the plot surrounds a group of friends who are on a weekend getaway and then go missing. Dagar portrays the role of a stubborn and possessive lover 'Rishabh Singh', one of the key characters in the film.
'Rishabh and Shiva are totally opposite in nature. I am nowhere close to Rishabh and had to work very hard to get into the skin of this character', says Dagar. He adds, 'two months prior to the start of the shoot, I isolated myself. I stopped talking to everyone and would spend time on my own to step into Rishabh's shoes'. Out of his sheer love for film making, Dagar would stay on the sets till the end of the shooting schedule. He would often assist Abhishek during and after shots.
