Over the weekend, we shared some new photos and footage from the set of The Fantastic Four: First Steps featuring Times Square, the Baxter Building's Excelsior launchpad, and a mysterious statue.
At the time, we wondered whether the latter might be alien in nature; now, upon closer inspection, we see it's meant as a tribute to Marvel's First Family.
Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing have all been incorporated into a rather artsy piece which feels like it may very well be the work of a certain Alicia Masters! That's pure speculation on our part, of course, but Natasha Lyonne remains a popular suggestion for the role of Ben Grimm's future wife among fans.

Work continues on The Fantastic Four: First Steps set in England and it appears the alternate reality Times Square has finally been completed.
As you can see in the newly revealed photos and videos below, signage has been added to the buildings along with a giant TV screen and well over a dozen '60s-style vehicles. However, both they and everything else we see have an interesting retro-futuristic spin on them.
That's because the reboot doesn't just take place in the 1960s, but in a world far more advanced than our own which appears to have benefited massively from Mister Fantastic's genius.
We'd imagine the cast will soon start shooting on this massive set, though it remains to be seen whether we'll get any photos of footage of Marvel's First Family in action.

Jessica Alba first played Sue Storm/Invisible Woman in 2005's Fantastic Four and later reprised the role in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
The actress received positive reviews for her take on the character and, while there were some differences from the comics (and the odd occasion where Sue was relegated to "love interest" given the time those movies were made), Alba remains a firm fan favourite.
Talking to Collider about her now Roku series Honest Renovations, the Sin City star shared her advice for The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Sue Storm, Vanessa Kirby.
"I think just have fun. The fans are so amazing," she shared. "It was probably one of the best times of my life, going around the world and meeting all of the people that just love The Fantastic Four and love these comic books and can relate to these stories."

Marvel superheroes have had some memorable last moments on film. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) affirming one last time "I am Iron Man" before annihilating Thanos with a finger snap in "Avengers: Endgame." "Logan" has Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) dying a peaceful death with his heart in his hands, finally knowing the last answer all people receive: "So this is what it feels like." Remy LeBeau, currently deceased after the shocking "X-Men '97" episode "Remember It," stopped the completion of a mutant genocide by detonating the Sentinel that skewered him, giving his life with one last boast: "The name's Gambit — remember it!"
But while a handful of superheroes have died in the movies, many more have in the comics. Since the 1992 event "The Death of Superman," it's pretty much become a right of passage for any Marvel or DC character deemed important enough to receive a headlining death and then resurrection.

Robert Downey Jr. has done everything from small character-driven dramas to big-budget blockbusters. The Oscar winner’s performances in films like Chaplin, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Judge, and Oppenheimer have been appreciated by fans and critics. However, his career-defining role as Iron Man in the MCU made him a global superstar.

There have been rumours for a while now about Franklin Richards factoring into The Fantastic Four: First Steps and we now have new intel on how the son of Reed Richards and Sue Storm Richards will be linked to the reboot's villain, Galactus.
According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH (meaning we're taking this with a hefty pinch of salt), the World Eater summons Marvel's First Family by sending the Silver Surfer to Earth, demanding they bring Franklin to him.
If they refuse, then he'll destroy their planet. As for what he wants with the boy, that isn't revealed, though we can look to the comics for clues.
So far, it appears Marvel Studios is pulling inspiration from "Earth X," a reality which saw Shalla-Bal become Silver Surfer, by creating a connection between Frankin and the world-eating baddie.

Fortnite fans have mixed feelings about Chapter 5 Season 3, especially when the game developers introduced overpowered and deadlier vehicles. The latest season will put them back on track as the developers plan an epic comeback featuring iconic heroes and villains from the Marvel universe that were well-received in the past.
Chapter 2 Season 4 was one of the strongest seasons for the live service game, and it was a success because of how creative the developers became when they utilized various characters in their respective corners of the Marvel franchise. New leaks suggest older mythic abilities are coming back.

The Marvel Universe (of both the comic and cinematic flavors) is home to many gods; Thor is one of the setting's A-list characters, after all. The Thunderer's fellow Norse Gods co-exist with the Greek/Roman pantheon. "Thor: Love & Thunder" showed there are enough gods out there to fill a whole metropolis, Omnipotence City — though Gorr the God Butcher wants to cut that number down to size.
Beyond adapting real mythological figures, the Marvel Universe also has the godlike Celestials; enormous, multi-colored (but still vaguely humanoid) beings older than the cosmos who maintain the universe. Work continues on The Fantastic Four: First Steps and two newly released set videos show the construction of the team's Excelsior launchpad, New York's Times Square, and possibly even the home of Ben Grimm, Yancy St.
These are massive sets, but likely a necessity given the reboot's unique aesthetic. Set on an alternate Earth, the movie takes place during the 1960s, albeit with a retro-futuristic style (no doubt thanks to how Marvel's First Family have changed their reality).
You'll notice that shipping containers have created a wall around the set and those will be to stop photographers or fans from catching any of the action. There will also be measures to stop drones like the one used to shoot these videos from hovering above.
However, if and when The Fantastic Four: First Steps does shoot on location, it's then we'll likely get a first look at Marvel Studios' take on the iconic superhero team.

While the Hulk has been an integral part of the MCU, the character has not been able to receive the love and attention that he deserves thanks to his messed up distribution rights, which bar him from being a lead in a show without Disney having to split profits with Universal Studios. It is for this very reason that we have not received a solo Hulk project since the Incredible Hulk., all the way back in Phase 1. However, the world of The Hulk is not limited to the Jolly Green Giant alone, and there are rumors that Marvel wants to capitalize on this fact as well.

During Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, it was confirmed that Michael Giacchino will compose the score for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
He's no stranger to the MCU, or superheroes in general for that matter, after previously working on the likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home and The Batman (he also stepped behind the camera to make a splash as Werewolf by Night's director).
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a particularly interesting project for Giacchino because many of you will know him best for Pixar's The Incredibles franchise. Marvel's First Family heavily inspired those movies, so what does that mean for the composer's approach to Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny?
"They're similar and different in many, many ways," Giacchino acknowledged in an interview with Nerd Reactor. "There's definitely room for both in the world. Those are two where I'll have my feet in both of those.

Marvel fans are still trying to wrap their heads around last Saturday’s Marvel Panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. will be taking up the mask of Victor von Doom. The reactions have vacillated between enthusiasm, disappointment and confusion over seeing Downey return, and I have my share of opinions about it. But whatever we may feel about the decision, Avengers: Doomsday is happening with Robert Downey Jr. We all have our theories about the why of it, but let’s look to the “how?” So, with the comic books as our map, how will Downey’s version of Doctor Doom work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Most Marvel Comics fans would agree that Dr. Doom reigns supreme when it comes to villains. Yes, Thanos got a massive boost in comic popularity thanks to the MCU’s Infinity Saga but before that,...

Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studio had several significant updates during the recently concluded Sdcc panel, including a new title for the Fantastic Four. Pedro Pascal’s upcoming film is now called The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It was earlier announced that Ralph Ineson would play Galactus, the big baddie in the film. Production on The Fantastic Four: First Steps began in London today and we now have the first photos from set. These appear to have been taken with a drone as we see the Baxter Building's "Excelsior" launch pad being constructed from above.
A recently revealed city map for this alternate reality 1960s New York City confirmed it sits adjacent to the Baxter Building and is presumably where the team takes off in the Fantasticar when setting off on adventures together.
That iconic "4" logo will glow blue in sunlight by the looks of it and, elsewhere, it appears Marvel Studios is constructing whole city streets. Given how unique this take on the Big Apple appears to be, this was likely the only option and makes more sense than shooting on location.

The Fantastic Four are called Marvel’s First Family because, well, they actually are. Back in 1961, the company formerly known as Timely Comics transitioned into Marvel Comics. They kept some of their titles, such as Journey Into Mystery, but began a new approach to superhero comics with The Fantastic Four. These new titles would show the internal drama between the characters and not just their superheroics. After these characters became a big hit, the company created other heroes such as The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, and Iron Man. Fox would end up with the movie rights to bring these characters to the big screen but ultimately would produce content that really didn’t live up to what the comics promised. After four attempts (ironic), the rights have finally reverted back to Marvel Studios through Disney’s purchase of Twentieth Century Studios. Now that the MCU is around, fans are interested in...

This year’s Sdcc was full of surprises as Marvel Studios returned to Hall H with plenty of updates on upcoming projects. The most important ones to watch are ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ ‘Thunderbolts,’ ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps,’ and ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’
Yes, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is the new title replacing ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty.’ After months of speculation about Kang’s fate in the MCU, it’s now official that the studio is shifting focus from Kang to Doctor Doom, who will be played by Robert Downey Jr.
Little is known about the movie, but we suspect it will adapt the ‘Time Runs Out’ storyline to some extent. The release date is set for May 1, 2026, with the Russo Brothers confirmed as directors.
Regarding the cast, several names have been confirmed, giving us a good idea of who might appear in the movie.

There was a time when movie studios rarely shared the footage screened in Hall H at Comic-Con with fans online.
However, when the Suicide Squad trailer almost immediately leaked in 2015, it forced Warner Bros.' hand (which was unprecedented at the time) and we've since grown used to those sneak peeks hitting social media right after their San Diego premieres.
Yesterday evening, Marvel Studios showcased Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Footage was shown from each of those movies, only for none of it to be released online!
It's just like old times today, though, as the early pre-production footage for the Fantastic Four reboot is currently doing the rounds on social media. While we're unable to share the footage with you here, it can be found on r/LeaksAndRumors.

Marvel Studios showed some very early footage from The Fantastic Four: First Steps at Comic-Con yesterday (you can read a full description here) and we now have a first look at the McU's Baxter Building!
The movie, which takes place in a retro-future '60s' setting, doesn't take place on Earth-616. However, with Marvel's First Family confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, it's clear they're going to play a big role in the Multiverse Saga.
Whether the Sacred Timeline will get its own Baxter Building remains to be seen; we see here just how different the alternate reality New York looks, though, and the team's base is arguably way cooler than Avengers Tower.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman explained why this movie won't deliver yet another origin story.

Marvel Studios opened its Hall H panel at last night's San Diego Comic-Con by announcing that, thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine, they've now passed $30 billion at the worldwide box office courtesy.
After 34 movies, that's an epic achievement and one which cements the MCU as Hollywood's most successful franchise
From there, Captain America: Brave New World received the spotlight and, thanks to ComingSoon.net, we have a detailed description of the footage shown exclusively to fans at the event:
It opens with President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford) addressing a 'historic evening' at the White House. Ross discusses a celestial mass that emerged from the Indian Ocean, referencing the fallen Celestial from The Eternals.
He explains how nations scrambled to claim Adamantium, a newly discovered element, emphasizing its importance for all humanity. This hints at Adamantium’s future significance in the MCU, particularly its connections to Wolverine and Captain America’s shield in the comics.

Marvel’s hour-long presentation at the San Diego Comic-Con concluded with the surprise entry of Dr. Doom in a mask. When the mask came off, it was Robert Downey Jr. and the whole crowd erupted in joy. The Iron Man actor is all set to portray one of Marvel’s greatest villains in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. However, X-Men ’97 showrunner Beau DeMayo’s X post did not share this excitement.

If there's a big tentpole property on television or film, chances are high that Pedro Pascal is either in it or was at one point, up for a role.
It seems whenever there's a major role to be cast, Pascal's name inevitably surfaces at some point.
Case in point, he'll be seen in Avengers: Doomsday which is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026, and The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is slated to arrive in theaters on May 22, 2026- arguably the two biggest films releasing that year.
And those films will come after Pascal has been seen in The Wild Robot, Gladiator II, season 2 of The Last of Us, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
As someone who can seemingly join any franchise he wants,THR asked Pascal why he said yes to the McU's Fantastic Four reboot.

Undoubtedly, the biggest shock of the night from Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at Sdcc was the news that Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the MCU. However, he won't be returning as Tony Stark, instead, he'll be portraying an alternate universe version of Doctor Doom.
Downey Jr.'s Doom is confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, however, online rumors have already swirled that Rdj's new character will actually show up first in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Several online scoopers are reporting that they received inside info about Downey's return but didn't feel confident enough to post the news before Marvel made the official announcement.
Collider caught up with The Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman, shortly after the Sdcc panel and asked whether he knew about Robert Downey Jr.'s return, prior to the Hall H extravaganza.
"It’s incredible exciting.

Fantastic Four villain Galactus loomed large over San Diego Comic-Con 2024… literally. Following Marvel’s surprise panel/screening for Deadpool & Wolverine on Thursday, the studio launched comic book-themed drone and fireworks into the San Diego night sky. Highlighting that show was the unmistakable silhouette of Marvel’s big bad purple planet-eater.
When Marvel’s proper panel rolled around on Saturday evening, however, it was clear that they had much bigger plans for Galactus than merely a light show. The studio’s presentation covered upcoming films Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and Fantastic Four: First Steps. For the lattermost movie, studio head Kevin Feige and Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman warned that original footage didn’t yet exist because filming won’t begin until July 30 in the UK.

Marvel Studios didn't drop any new artwork for The Fantastic Four during its Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con, but the upcoming reboot does have an intriguing new title: The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Needless to say, with rumours swirling that we'll meet Franklin and Valeria Richards in the movie, we can't help wondering whether they're who that's referring to.
While filming isn't scheduled to begin until Tuesday (that's now confirmed), some very early test footage was shared exclusively with fans at the event which showed the heroes preparing for a space mission. At one point, Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards is teaching a science class with what's been described as "an old-school accent."
As expected, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will take place in an alternate reality New York City set in a retro/future 1960s.

As Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach prepare to take their first steps into the MCU as Marvel's First Family, The Fantastic Four, Matt Shakman's upcoming sixties-set superhero movie has gotten itself a new title. Revealed by Shakman himself at Marvel Studios' grand Hall H presentation at Comic-Con, Reed Richards and co's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut is called, quite aptly, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Although the Fab Four won't just be taking their first steps with Shakman's film, no siree. This family are bringing with them a hot new/retrofuturistic set of wheels, as attendees at the Marvel panel were treated to an in-person first look at the Richards' Fantasticar, too. Check out the impossibly cool, Cadillac-inspired ride below:
Now admittedly, cool as the Fantasticar reveal is (and it is very cool), it doesn't tell us too much more about what Shakman's got in...

Five years after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, Marvel Studios Chief Kevin Feige finally introduced MCU version of The Fantastic Four on the Hall H stage Saturday night at Comic-Con.
Feige kicked the segment off by fibbing that the cast couldn’t make it because filming is set to begin next week in the U.K., but revealed “our director was willing to fly all through the night,” introducing Matt Shakman to the stage.
Shakman acknowledged that there’s no actual footage from the film, but said he’d put together a pre-vis clip to get the tone of the film across — though if that’s pre-vis it’s really polished. Because it resembled something close to a short film that might end up (we hope) on the blu-ray, made up of fictional newsreel footage clearly set in the 1960s — of course it might also just look like the 60s (more on that momentarily.

For anyone wondering if after a challenging few years, Marvel Studios could chart a path that would instantly earn back the trust of fans, the studio’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con seems to suggest the answer is a resounding yes.
In a shocking surprise (even by Marvel standards), Robert Downey Jr. was announced as returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom, one of the most feared and complicated characters in Marvel lore. Marvel Studios may have skipped San Diego Comic-Con 2023, which was hindered by a lack of big name talent and productions being halted (a result of last summer’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes), but Kevin Feige and his crew are back this year trying to sell the idea that Marvel films and TV are still top-tier entertainment. In 2022, Feige broke down the shift from the illustrious Phase 4, which included films such as “Spiderman: No Way Home” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” as well as TV series like “Wandavision” and “Moon Knight,” into the underwhelming Phase 5. Many of the projects announced for Marvel’s latest era have struggled to come to fruition.

“Deadpool & Wolverine,” dealing as it does with the Marvel Cinematic Universe multiverse, features a parade of cameos from superheroes who became part of the MCU when Disney bought Fox. The most surprising of them is Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, a.k.a. the Human Torch, from the “Fantastic Four.”
Evans is best known for playing Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, in the MCU. But before he picked up the shield, he played fiery superhero Storm in two “Fantastic Four” movies in 2005 and 2007. And now, he has reprised the character in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” having an encounter with Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) as they navigate the Void, a world of misfit toys first established in “Loki.”
Entertainment Weekly talked to Evans about how the cameo came about. It started with a text from Ryan Reynolds, as many things in Hollywood do.

Marvel Studios is not intending to play around after the sub-optimal run that the brand has been dealing with lately. Not only is the studio proudly touting around its just released Deadpool & Wolverine with a surprise Sdcc screening along with cameo guests but upon the company’s return to Hall H, some Fantastic Four teasing would be in the cards for the fans. Pedro Pascal had recently released a wholesome group photo of Marvel’s first family as the cast members for Matt Shakman’s upcoming The Fantastic Four had recently gotten together.
Now, Deadline reveals that our world has gotten a little preview of what it’s like when the grand-scale villain of The Fantastic Four looms over the San Diego sky. Marvel would give fans a display of an illuminated drone show, which came together to form the shape of Galactus, the planet-eating threat of the Fantastic Four comics.

Marvel Studios screened Deadpool & Wolverine for lucky fans in Hall H yesterday evening and, to wrap up Thursday's Comic-Con offerings, the streets of San Diego were lit up with an epic drone show.
That culminated with the surprise appearance of Galactus, The Fantastic Four logo, and a message for fans to stay tuned for even bigger reveals during Marvel Studios' panel this Saturday.
While The Fantastic Four has only recently started shooting, we're hearing that a sizzle reel is possible along with a first look at Marvel's First Family suited up. Back to this drone show and not only is this our first glimpse at the McU's Galactus, but it also serves as confirmation we're getting a comic-accurate take on the villain instead of another cloud!

Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm was the best thing about Tim Story’s duo of Fantastic Four films, which failed to impress the critics. Fans rewatching the film would notice that he gave a performance that didn’t remind them of his iconic Captain America role even for a second. As Human Torch, Evans gave off a cocky attitude, which aligns with the description of the character as a reckless superhero.

As one Marvel Studios blockbuster storms into theaters this weekend, filming has now commenced on the Marvel Cinematic Universe's future as it's being reported that cameras are now rolling on The Fantastic Four, which opens in theaters exactly one year from today!
To mark the occasion, star Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic) shared the first full cast photo of Marvel's First Family, featuring himself alongside Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), Ebon Ross-Bachrach (Ben Grimm/Thing), and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm/Human Torch).

The Fantastic Four begins shooting in the UK later this month, though whether we'll eventually get to see Marvel's First Family in set photos remains to be seen.
Still, the door is open to the cast showing up for Comic-Con this weekend, even if it's far too early for any footage. Marvel Studios is bound to do something to hype the reboot up in Hall H, anyway, and Kevin Feige just shared some new comments about the project with CinemaBlend.

It's all about the family. It's all about [those] dynamics."
"So the minute we got that cast that we've announced signed up, 90 percent of the work was done,...
