Michelle Roy was raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her father is Canadian actor Victor Roy. She began her acting career on-camera as a child at Children's Television Studios, Toronto, Canada, and then went on to graduate from On-Camera Acting at TVS-TV Studios, Toronto, Canada. She later graduated high school as an Honor Roll student from Monarch Park Collegiate Institute, Toronto, Canada.
From 2007 to 2011, Michelle worked full time days while she attended evening and weekend classes and graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) for a Certificate in Psychology with a Specialization in Abnormal Psychology (while she worked part time evenings for her student union), and also attended Armstrong Acting Studios, Toronto, Canada (while she also worked there part-time as a Teaching Assistant during evenings and weekends).
Michelle published her first novel (horror, occult, romance) in 2012 called, "Black: A Novel" under the pseudonym of Mae Sekhmet (which she later wrote, directed, produced, and acted in a short film adaptation). From 2016 to 2021 Michelle attended On-Camera Acting coaching at LB Acting Studio, Toronto, Canada. In late 2017, Michelle published her second Novel (horror, science-fiction, romance) called, "Rycombinant_9" under her legal name of Michelle Roy. Both novels are available through Lulu Publishing.
In March 2018, Michelle was voted Vice-Chair of the ACTRA Toronto Apprentice Caucus for a 2-year term. In February 2020, she was voted Member-At-Large on the ACTRA Toronto Apprentice Caucus for a 2-year term. Since 2021, she has also been involved in the outACTRAto Committee. In 2022, she was again voted Vice-Chair of the ACTRA Toronto Apprentice Caucus for a second 2-year term. However, she resigned a couple of months into her term, due to joining the ACTRA union as a full member, and also joined the ACTRA Toronto Green Committee that was launched in 2022.
In October 2023, Michelle graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) with a Certificate in Film Studies (focusing on Producing, Fiction Screenwriting, Sound Design, Directing, Cinematography, editing, and Grip/Gaffer) and has filmed several short films, written several short film screenplays, a comedy television series, and a web series that are in various stages of development.
In July 2024, Michelle was pleased to become a SAG-AFTRA Member.
She is also contemplating writing a third novel, in addition to continuing her acting endeavors.
