It’s hard to imagine iconic duos with their other half. What’s Abbott without Costello? Mac without cheese? Hall without Oates? Well, John Oates is looking to show you just what that might be, announcing a new album titled “Reunion” – quite ironic considering there will never be another one between him and Daryl Hall, the pop duo behind “Private Eyes” and “Maneater”, with Oates now saying the only person he’s going to reunite with is himself.
As John Oates told Rolling Stone, “I’ve been trying to rediscover who I am as an individual, both personally and on the professional and creative side. I realized there was a deeper and more nuanced meaning to ‘reunion.’” This rediscovery comes not long after news broke that Daryl Hall was seeking to sue John Oates over the latter attempting to sell his share in their collaborations, putting a nail in a rather storied partnership and career.

John Oates has lost that loving feeling for Hall & Oates. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the artist said he has “moved on” from his longtime duo with Daryl Hall.
When asked about a lawsuit filed by Hall last year, Oates called it a “very boring business issue” and said he had already felt the desire to focus on his solo career anyway. “As far as I’m concerned, I’ve moved on,” he told Rolling Stone. “I feel like I have a new lease on my creative life.”

Oates continued by saying that he and Hall wanted to be seen as two separate artists from the beginning. “Daryl and I have always called ourselves Daryl Hall and John Oates, because we always wanted to be perceived as two individuals who work together,” he explained. “That was very important to us. When John Oates spoke to Rolling Stone in January 2020, he explained how balancing his time between massive Hall & Oates concerts with his longtime creative partner Daryl Hall and intimate solo gigs provided him with a dream life. “It keeps me balanced,” he said. “[When I tour solo], I carry my own gear. I show up with my guitar in my hand and put the amp in the back of my car. It’s real and I love it. Then I go out there with Daryl and we’re flying around in private planes and...

For the majority of John Oates’ professional career, solo work was a means to keep busy and creatively fulfilled between the Daryl Hall & John Oates projects that took up most of his time. But now that the duo has hopelessly fractured after more than 50 years of partnership, Oates has the time to concentrate all his energies on his own music, beginning with his new LP, Reunion, out May 17.

Within hours of news that David Lynch is seeking financing for his animated feature Snootworld comes another depressing reminder of how hard legends have to hustle. Some 18 months after confirming intent to adapt his novel Liarmouth: A Feel-Bad Romance into a feature, John Waters told Variety the film has locked at least one major element: star power!
Aubrey Plaza will lead Liarmouth as Marsha Sprinkle, a “compulsive kleptomaniac” who plans a heist with her lover, Daryl, only to become separated from him. About her involvement, Waters summarized the situation thusly: “I’m thrilled that she’s going to [star in it], but we don’t have the money yet.” Surely there’s a hip studio that can pony up the money, or at least a Saudi investor who makes a couple demands to the script.

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead and spinoffs.
AMC‘s long-running zombie epic The Walking Dead has played host to many compelling characters throughout its 11-season run and many spinoffs. But there’s only been one Rick Grimes.
The first character ever introduced on the series, the lawman played by Andrew Lincoln served as the viewers’ ears and eyes as we adjust to this brave new post-apocalyptic world. Rick went from his native Kentucky to the ruins of Atlanta to Hershel’s farm to the prison, Alexandria, Hilltop, Sanctuary, and beyond. And through it all he authored many of the most iconic moments in The Walking Dead history.
As the Rick and Michonne spinoff The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live once again hammered home, Rick Grimes has a flair for the dramatic. Wherever he goes, cool stuff seems to follow. In that spirit, let’s rank some...

The Walking Dead is over, but like the zombies at the heart (er, brains?) of the tale, the franchise lives on.
Clocking in at 11 seasons and 177 episodes all told, the AMC horror drama shuffled off into the afterlife, only to birth a bevy of spinoff shows, most of which center on beloved characters from the original series like the Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) reunion series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Beyond those continuing adventures, there are also the spinoffs without too many overt ties to the “flagship” Walking Dead, including the very first of these spinoffs, Fear the Walking Dead (also now in the grave, joined there by the two-seasons-and-out The Walking Dead: World Beyond and single season anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead).

It’s February 2024, and we’ve got another The Walking Dead spinoff series, which, by now, has become the norm. But this one, titled The Ones Who Live, is special because it has the Goat The Walking Dead character at the center of it. Whether you’ve ever watched, played, or read The Walking Dead or not, if you’re into pop culture, then you’ve certainly heard of this one guy: Rick Grimes. Clearly the biggest name about the whole franchise, the character has already been immortalized on screen by British actor Andrew Lincoln—yes, the same guy from the once iconic Love Actually.
One of the biggest issues of the franchise in the later years was the fatigue of the audience, which was further felt when Lincoln left the mother show. Many stopped following it, including Lincoln himself, who has admitted that he didn’t keep up with Twd after his characters’ exit.

Oh-oh here he comes. John Oates, who topped the charts with Daryl Hall in the ‘70s and ‘80s, says he is officially moving on from his once-partner, signaling an official end to the duo. Oates’ comments come amid the legal battle with Hall over the former trying to sell his music rights.
Speaking on the Behind the Velvet Rope podcast (via Variety), Oates said that while he is proud of his work with Hall, now that the two have major legal troubles between them and they haven’t released an album in seven years, it’s time to look at what’s in front of him. “I don’t like to live in the past… I make the analogy of what it’s like when you go to a great museum and you’re really excited to go and see all the beautiful paintings or the exhibits or whatever it might be,...

John Oates is speaking out amid his ongoing legal battle with bandmate Daryl Hall, saying he has “moved on” from the experience.
Hall sued Oates last month over Oates’ plan to sell his share of their joint venture Whole Oats Enterprises to Primary Wave Music without the other’s permission. Hall was granted a temporary restraining order against Oates as legal proceedings continue.
“You can’t ignore the fact that the Hall & Oates catalog of hits and the 50-year career will always trump almost anything that Daryl does on his own or I do on my own, which is okay because I’m very proud of that music,” Oates said recently on David Yontef’s Behind the Velvet Rope podcast. “I’m really proud of what Daryl and I created together. I think we made music that will stand the test of time.”
He continued, “I don’t like to live in the past.

A new report has revealed that Daryl aimed to block John from selling his share of their joint venture, arguing that it would violate the terms of a business agreement, per the Associated Press.
The lawsuit seeks to prevent John, his co-trustees Richard Flynn and John‘s wife Aimee Oates, from selling Daryl‘s part in Whole Oats Enterprises to Primary Wave Music.
The judge has temporarily blocked the sale while legal proceedings continue. The case will be taken up at a court hearing on November 30, the outlet reports.

Daryl Dixon, what have you gotten yourself into?
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 1 Episode 1 reunited us with our favorite crossbow-wielding survivor of the zombie apocalypse.
After the success of The Walking Dead: Dead City, expectations were high that this France-set chapter in the expansive franchise would take things to a whole new level.
Thankfully, "L'ame Perdue" effortlessly transplanted Daryl in France, and it seems like he's racking up enemies wherever he goes.
This isn't the Daryl who went off to search for Rick and Michonne on The Walking Dead Season 11 Episode 24.
This man has been put through extreme trauma during his time on the road and, err -- the high seas.
Daryl's decision to leave the Commonwealth was huge because it meant he risked leaving the life he helped build behind, but sometimes, you need to see what's out there.
My name's Daryl Dixon. I come from a place called the Commonwealth.

This article contains spoilers for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon episode 1.
Through eleven seasons of The Walking Dead, the “rules” of the show’s reanimated walkers remained mostly the same.
Respecting the canon established in George A. Romero’s zombie films and Robert Kirkman’s comic source material, the undead on AMC’s long-running hit abided by the same rules. Walking Dead zombies were … 1. Re-animated corpses. 2. Slow-moving. 3. Hungry for flesh. 4. Could be dispatched only by a piercing wound to the brain.
That level of consistency helped establish The Walking Dead as one of the most successful shows of its era. But as they say, variety is the spice of (undead) life. In The Walking Dead‘s 11th and final season, the show finally opened the door for a different kind of zombie when Aaron (Ross Masquand) experienced the unimaginable horror of a walker that could … turn a doorknob!

The grunts and frowns have taken a backseat. The menacing demeanor has tapered off with time and experiences he wouldn’t trade for anything. The Daryl we hopelessly float to the French shore with is the picture of a man battered by the losses life has inflicted on him. But in a morbid world devoid of hope and abundant with threats, both dead and very much alive, life’s all Daryl has to hold on to. For better or worse, “The Walking Dead” TV world continues to grow. The latest spin-off series aiming to keep the undead dream alive is “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” premiering Sunday, Sept. 10, on AMC and AMC+. The show follows Norman Reedus’ Daryl on a solo trek across the Atlantic Ocean to France. Tightly packed in a polished and engaging six episodes, it seems that Scott Gimple’s universe has finally delivered a follow-up worth a pound of flesh.
“Daryl Dixon,” which was created by seasoned TV producer David Zabel, doesn’t spend much time rehashing old plot points. Instead, Daryl – and the audience – is dropped into the proverbial deep end in unfamiliar territory and expected to swim from there.
It doesn’t take long for Daryl to find himself in trouble – and thanks to a rogue nun named Isabelle (Clémence Poésy), he eventually aligns with a new team of do-gooders.

I'll never forget watching the series premiere of AMC's The Walking Dead with my family on Halloween night back in 2010 (the premiere aired directly after Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake), so it's hard to believe that nearly 13 years later, the entire series is coming out on Blu-ray and DVD from Lionsgate. Featuring 54 discs and a 42-minute making-of documentary, The Walking Dead: The Complete Collection will be released on October 17th, and we have a look at the full release details and cover art:

"The Walking Dead" ended in 2022, but it already has more spin-offs than you can shake a stick at. Following the release of "Fear The Walking Dead" and "The Walking Dead: Dead City," fans have been looking forward to "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon." The show will be set in Europe, following former redneck ne'er-do-well Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), the only principal actor returning from the original cast.
"The Walking Dead" originated as a comic book series created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore. The story follows an ever-dwindling group of survivors in a zombie apocalypse, moving from place to place in search of a safe refuge from the undead "walkers," and also the numerous human dangers they encounter along the way. It made for an often exhilarating (if often frustrating) series that could sometimes feel unfocused and patchy, but Reedus' laconic performance ensured he emerged as a fan favorite.

We are fast approaching the premiere of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on AMC.
The latest chapter of Daryl's story begins Sunday, September 10 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on AMC and AMC+.
The previous footage has showcased Norman Reedus' weatherbeaten character as he navigates a new sandbox.
Now, AMC has dropped the key art for the forthcoming spinoff, and it's as picturesque as you'd expect from a show set in France.
Reedus is front and center in a post-apocalyptic wasteland with the Eiffel Tower in the background for good measure.
Truthfully, the color tone reminds me of Fear the Walking Dead Season 7, which put radiation at the center of the storytelling.
Hopefully, Twd: Daryl Dixon is a cut above that.

The spinoff series starring Norman Reedus will officially debut on Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on the linear network and its streaming counterpart. It was announced at San Diego Comic-Con that the show has already been renewed for Season 2.
Both new images can be seen below.
“Bringing to life Daryl Dixon, a well-established and beloved character, in an all-new and distinct world was an interesting creative challenge,” said Kim Granito, head of marketing for AMC Networks. “We wanted these images to reflect a heroic, and more hopeful story than we’ve seen before in this expanding universe. We hope this series will thrill long-time fans of this franchise but will also resonate with those who have never seen an episode of ‘The Walking Dead.’”

Those who are looking to revisit the first four seasons of The Walking Dead in a brand-new way will want to keep an eye on GameMill Entertainment and AMC’s newly-announced game, The Walking Dead: Destinies. Currently in development for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, the Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch, Destinies is a third-person narrative-driven action-adventure game that sees you take on the role of Rick Grimes, but will give players the ability to “weave your own path through series’ events”.
According to IGN, in what seems like a mix of the AMC series and the multiple choice mechanic from Telltale’s The Walking Dead, players will visit key locations from the show as Grimes. At certain points during your play, you will be asked to make choices that will potentially determine who lives and who dies, thereby altering the following events and straying from the show’s storyline.

He’s a stranger in a very strange land. In The Walking Dead’s latest spinoff series, a fan favorite, crossbow-wielding American Southerner Daryl Dixon, finds himself in Paris. But the City of Light is flickering and filled with the dead. How he winds up overseas is still murky (he does spend a portion of his trip across the Atlantic floating on shipwrecked debris), but once he’s there, he certainly won’t have time to try on berets or munch on any baguettes. In the six-episode first season (the action drama has already been renewed for a second round), Daryl is tasked with protecting and delivering 11-year-old Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) from the boy’s convent home to a mysterious new locale. As executive producer Greg Nicotero observes, “Dixon takes us back to the beginning of what the DNA of The Walking Dead started as, which is a man on a mission.

“The Walking Dead’s” three spinoff series will not be impacted by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. AMC Networks CEO Kristin Dolan confirmed the series will be released as planned during the company’s second quarter earnings call.

We greatly value the work of our creative partners and hope these disputes can be resolved as quickly and as fairly as possible.”
Dolan also noted that “in the short term,” AMC Networks has enough scripted series in the pipeline that the company will be able to continue to offer new content “for the remainder of this year and well into 2024.”

Negan has defied the odds countless times throughout his time in The Walking Dead universe.
Things took a wild turn on The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 1 Episode 6 when we learned that The Dama had been calling the shots and wanted Jeffrey Dean Morgan's alter ego to help her run New York.
She had heard how Negan killed Glen, which forever changed Maggie and Hershel's lives.
In one of the most chilling scenes in franchise history, the Dama revealed she had stolen one of Hershel's limbs and could go back for more if Negan didn't help her cause.

"I think he thinks he's f---ed."
Morgan believes Negan was surprised by how cutthroat the Dama was because he didn't know much of anything about her before their first meeting.

AMC has been teasing us with snippets of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon for months.
On Friday, fans of the franchise got their biggest glimpse yet of the Paris-set spinoff during San Diego Comic-Con.
Because the cast and crew were unable to make the event due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, the cable network gave fans the official trailer for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 1.
While there have been many complaints about how Daryl (Norman Reedus) managed to make it to France after the conclusion of The Walking Dead Season 11, the trailer does deliver plenty of things the franchise has never seen.
The Walking Dead: Dead City has been great because it took us to a new location with a scaled-back cast.
With Daryl Dixon, it seems we're getting a show bigger in scope than anyone could have imagined.
The official trailer introduces us to a weatherbeaten Daryl...
