Peyton Manning has been all over TV sets this year. The former NFL star quarterback-turned-tv star and producer via his Omaha Productions co-hosted NBC’s coverage of the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, and his “Manningcast” alternate Monday Night Football broadcast for ESPN kicks off next week. And he has maintained a consistent cadence in commercials too, with his latest effort, a comedic spot for Nationwide, set to debut on the NFL kickoff game on NBC Thursday night.
In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Manning discussed his push into entertainment, working on the spot, whether he would work on future Olympics coverage, and what viewers can expect from the Manningcast this season.
It seems like you’ve been all over my TV this year between the the Olympics, the return of the Manningcast is coming up, and obviously this Nationwide spot is going to debut during the NFL kickoff game.

Ahead of Tuesday’s Season 28 premiere of this long-running program, ABC released the following promotional photo of Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin.
Can you spot the reason why it created quite a stir on social media?

As you can see immediately, Hostin has Much shorter hair than she had in the past… perhaps changing up her appearance in response to her youngest child going off to college.
She’s an empty-nester now.
She has more time to focus on her style.

The ABC daytime panel show The View is shaking things up for its forthcoming 28th season, which will debut next Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The program, hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro, is leaving its longtime home on the Upper West Side to move to a new studio at Disney’s (almost finished) new New York headquarters in the Hudson Square neighborhood. And, fittingly, given the imminent U.S. presidential election, there will be plenty of high-profile political figures represented in its first few weeks back on TV, alongside other notable guests.
Among the guests in the first two weeks are Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, as well as athletes Katie Ledecky and Venus Williams, actors Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke, and Lauren Sanchez, who is releasing a new book The Fly Who Flew to Space.

Move over, Paris Olympics. Who cares about medalists like Simone Biles and Katie Ledecky when Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) is making a real name for Americans in France? Armed with the worst outfits ever and a handful of marketing schemes, our girl has returned for a new season of “Emily in Paris.” Back and better than ever — or rather, as horrendous and hilarious as it’s always been — the fourth season serves as a decent cure for post-Olympics blues. This is especially true if your favorite parts of the Olympics included the bonkers opening ceremony, the memes about breakdancing and the scandalous pole vaulter, each of which could be their own gonzo plots on “Emily in Paris” Season 4.
Where did we leave off at the end of Season 3? Emily is in love with two men, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount). That’s really too bad, because Camille (Camille Razat...

Even to the passive or occasional viewer, the 2024 Olympics proved one thing: We are, to borrow a phrase, so back.
The quadrennial event serves many functions — a celebration of sport, obviously; a chance for the host city to peacock before a global audience; a chance to check in (speaking of Peacock) on where broadcasting technology is at a given moment in time. But it’s also a vibe check of sorts, a moment to pause and reflect on the state of things, defined as broadly as possible. And after a Covid-delayed and then Covid-restrained Tokyo games, during which elite athletes performed to empty rooms and one of the world’s great cities sat cosseted and unable to show itself, Paris in 2024 gleamed with something Olympics fans had been yearning for last cycle: possibility.

Au revoir Paris, Hola LA.
In a nutshell, that was the just completed ceremony of the Games of the Xxxiii Olympiad.
It was Tom Cruise leaping off the rim of the Stade de France to take the Olympic flag from LA Mayor Karen Bass and Simone Biles. As the guitar riffs of H.E.R. filled the air, Cruise then exited on a motorbike to deliver the flag to a sunny West Coast. It was the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and Olympic fixture Snoop Dogg getting into the pre-recorded groove down in Long Beach.
It wasn’t telling of the full scope of Los Angeles and no mention was made of Snoop’s supposed flight from Paris to LA, but it was pure Hollywood.
It was over the top and cliche filled – – as if anything less would have sufficed.
Amazing !!!
LA28 à vous les Jeux Olympiques. Enjoy!

The Paris Olympics set a high bar for itself after an opening ceremony that showcased Lady Gaga, Celine Dion and a scenic backdrop involving virtually every Parisian landmark along the Seine. But the closing ceremony — taking place on a blistering hot day in stark contrast to the pouring rain of its kickoff — also delivered a blockbuster show with a Hollywood twist.
As part of the glitzy handover to Los Angeles as it prepares to host 2028’s Summer Games, Tom Cruise wowed audiences with a few epic stunts while Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed and H.E.R. sang the U.S. national anthem. Every few years, people all across the globe unite for their love of sport and country as they cheer on the world’s best athletes in the Summer and Winter Olympics.
In the 2024 Paris Games, more than 10,000 Olympians competed for hundreds of medals but only about a third of those athletes will receive the highest honor: a gold medal.
There have been some questions about the gold medals and what they’re really made of. Here’s the surprising answer to that and why biting the medal (as many athletes do in photos) is not a good idea.

The selection of the Grammy- and Oscar-winning R&b singer was announced during last night’s NBC coverage of the games when special correspondent and Olympics enthusiast Snoop Dogg dropped the news. “Can I announce who’s gonna be…? Well, I’m a fan of H.E.R., and I would love for H.E.R. to perform the national anthem.” He then confirmed that H.E.R. will be performing the anthem.

Olympic Gold Medalists Katie Ledecky & Nick Mead Named As Team USA Flag Bearers For Closing Ceremony
Four-time Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky and two-time Olympic rower Nick Mead have been named as Team USA flag bearers at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympics on Sunday.
The announcement by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (Usopc) comes amid growing excitement around Sunday’s ceremony, which will see the city of Paris hand over the summer games baton to L.A., host city in 2028.
A raft of Hollywood stars is expected to participate in this segment of the ceremony, led by Tom Cruise, who is believed to have pre-recorded material in Paris this spring and is also rumored to be preparing a skydiving stunt into the Stade de France venue.
The flag bearing honor for Ledecky follows a stellar performance in Paris where she won four medals to become the most decorated U.S. women’s Olympian of all time and the fifth most decorated Olympian in history with 14 medals.

Simone Biles may be hungry for more.
The record-setting gymnast has conquered Paris with seven gold medals, bringing her career total to 10 overall.
But after winning gold in the women’s vault final, she hinted today that she hasn’t ruled out appearing in a fourth Olympics when event heads to Los Angeles in 2028.
“Is this my last… definitely the Yurchenko double pike,” said Biles in response to a question on whether we’ve seen the last of such vaults. “I mean, I kinda nailed that one. So, you know, never say never. The next Olympics is at home. So you just never know.
“But I am getting really old,” she added, laughing.
At 27-year-old, Biles became the oldest Olympic all-around winner in 72 years since Maria Gorokhovskaya, then 30, won the event’s inaugural at Helsinki 1952.

If you’ve uprooted your daily life to watch the Paris 2024 Olympics, you’re not alone. During a press call for the event, NBCUniversal executives revealed that the international competition has been disrupting the American workday.
“From the viewership figures, American is captivated. There’s a lack of productivity in a lot of workplaces, and we’re here for it. We set this goal very early on to make sure that America is unproductive all day long,” Molly Solomon, president and executive producer for NBC Olympics Production, said on a Thursday morning press call. And Solomon came with receipts.
“We did some research on our viewership,” Solomon said. “One in four said their work productivity declines during the Olympics. Two out of three people say that the Olympics provide an escape. And half said they’re changing their daily routines to watch the Olympics.”

All eyes were on U.S. athlete Katie Ledecky when it came to the women’s final for the 1,500-m freestyle at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where the swimmer scored her eighth Olympic gold medal.
Clocking in at 15 minutes, 30.02 seconds, Ledecky shaved seven seconds off her time from the U.S. trials, though she didn’t reach the world record she set in 2018, when she finished at 15 minutes, 20.48 seconds. With eight career gold medals and 12 Olympic medals overall, she is now tied on both counts with Jenny Thompson for the most medals for a female swimmer.
Ledecky has long been the favorite to win the 1,500-meter at Paris, simply because few other athletes have fully owned an event like she has. During the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, Ledecky took home the gold during the event’s inaugural year. She scored that victory only an hour and 13 minutes after competing in the 200-meter freestyle.

Once again, swimmer Katie Ledecky smoked her competition. During the 1,500-meter freestyle swimming heat, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist pulled so far ahead, she couldn’t be seen in the same shot as her fellow swimmers.

The opening ceremony of the Paris Games is barely over, and already its starting to look a lot like the #Beylympics, at least to Team USA.
Having given Vice President Kamala Harris permission to use her ‘Freedom’ tune for her newly launched Potus campaign, Beyoncé is now flying the flag for Simon Biles, LeBrone James, Sha’Carri Richardson, Noah Lyles, Caeleb Dressel, Katie Ledecky and all other American athletes competing in France over the next 16 days.
In a video that dropped during NBC and Peacock’s primetime replay of Friday’s Opening Ceremony, the hatted and booted Cowboy Carter superstar gave her ‘YA YA’ hit a revamp for the hometown team. “Get a look at America, y’all,” Beyoncé declared as Biles, Men’s Gymnasts Fredrick Richard and Asher Hong, and others appeared on screen. “These hopes and dreams, these superstars that represent us.”
