Early Life.
Roberts was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. His mother, Annie Mae Roberts, raised her three kids, Gregory, Sharina, and Latef, as a single mother. She was a factory worker during his youth, and a kindergarten teacher during his teenage years. She is from Greenville, South Carolina, which is where the Roberts family has deep roots while attending and fellowship at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. His father, Danny Davis, was a factory worker during Latef's youth, and a mailman during his teenage years. His father is a elder in the Church Of God In Christ (C. O. G. I. C.). His father was raised in Buffalo, New York, but born in Tallahassee, Florida. Latef mother and father never married and separated when he was two years old. Latef mother always credited his Godparents, Bill and Audrey Ayres for helping her raise him. Bill, a manager at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, is from Dillwyn, Virginia, and Audrey, a junior high school teacher, from Buckingham, Virginia.
Latef attended Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven, Connecticut where he was a All-State football player, Captain of the basketball team, and an All-American triple jumper on the track and field team. Roberts then attended the University of Findlay, Ohio on a athletic scholarship.
While at the University of Findlay, Latef started taking acting classes from legendary acting teacher, Barry Alexander. Latef then went on to take acting classes in Manhattan, New York. He was in the same acting class with, Renee Lawless, who plays Katherine Cryer on Tyler Perry's, The Haves and Have Nots. Latef and Renee still remain friends today. Shortly after, Latef auditioned for several managers. After auditioning, Latef signed with his current manager. From there, Latef went on to book many independent featured films. Through out his career, Latef has worked on independent films and television.
