Brinda Mitra is a Mumbai based filmmaker. She was born and brought up in a Bengali joint family in Delhi. She had an early exposure to arts and performing arts. Her father is reputed Bengali playwright and director Torit Mitra. Along with her father and their team, she organized the first 'Henrik Ibsen Theatre Festival' in association with the Royal Norwegian Embassy, in Delhi. An academic topper, she also won several awards as an actor while studying at Delhi University.
She specialized in Editing, at Whistling Woods International as a scholarship student.
She went on to assist distinguished filmmaker Mr. Pradeep Sarkar on various ads, starting as an A.D, then going on to become an Associate Director with him. She has also assisted directors Akshay Roy, Neeraj Ghaywan and Sandeep Modi among others, on ads and feature films. She has worked at Yash Raj Films on films like Mardaani and Meri Pyaar Bindu and on the series Man's World. She progressed as a creative content creator for digital content with Siddharth Roy Kapur at Roy Kapur Films and then served as Supervising Producer with Nadiadwala Grandson Digital Studios.
Brinda's early exposure to the performing arts and her decade long career as Chief AD, Associate Director, working on over 100 ad films, close creative interaction with the biggest stars in India like Rani Mukherjee, Ayushmann Khurrana and in the UK like Bill Nighy, while working on feature films, lends her a unique style as a filmmaker.
She made her writing and directorial debut with the micro-anthology 'Stories On The Next Page' starring actors like Renuka Shahane, Abhishek Banerjee, Namit Das and others, which released on Hotstar and garnered rave reviews.
