With a background in poetry & playwriting, Susan-Sojourna Collier
received an Emmy nomination in 2003 for her writing on ABC Network's
"All My Children." A veteran television writer, Ms. Collier has written
for many daytime drama series, including "Port Charles," "All My
Children" and "One Life to Live." She has pinned the screenplay "Get
the Show On the Road" an adaptation of a romance novel. She has
authored four plays produced throughout the east coast. Also, she is
the winner of the New York's New Professional Theatre's Writing
Festival and Walt Disney Writing Fellowship.
Ms. Collier's producing credit includes a series of Public Service Announcements for NBC/Bravo Diversity on the Set campaign. After producing 8 PSA's around the country - she received the New England Cable TV Association Public Service Award. She is the executive producer of an internet dramatic series "Moment to Moment" (moment2momentshow.com) serving as creator & head writer. "Moment to Moment" will be launched May of this year. In addition, she has served on the Development Team for Al Roker Production - creating new TV shows and documentaries. As the Executive Producer of Global Neighborhood Production - Ms. Collier is collaborating with the Kings County District Attorney's Office to produce the documentary "Gun Violence - The Rippling Effect in Brooklyn."
Serving as a mentor for several aspiring writers, Ms. Collier is an educator and motivational speaker focusing on building self-esteem through writing. In addition, she has developed the creative writing workshop "Messages to My Younger Brother" (addressing issues of incarcerated and youth-at-risk) which is a part of Rikers Island Correctional Facility Weekly Programs. She has taught film courses at Gibbs School & School of Visual Art. In addition, she serves on the Professional Advisory Committee for the Art Institute - NYC, active board member for Manna House School- East Harlem (creative arts center for the youths) and a mentor for Girls Write Now (creative writing program for at-risk girls).
