The Fastest Man Alive is speeding towards the end of his adventures on The CW. The Flash season 9 will mark the conclusion of the long-running Arrow spinoff, which first aired in 2014. The final season will consist of 13 episodes meant to wrap up the story of Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen and his extended family of heroes. True to the nature of the expansive superhero universe in which The Flash takes place, the final run of episodes will also provide an opportunity for The CW to bring back characters from the show’s past.
The CW has confirmed that The Flash season 9 will see the return of five major Arrowverse characters, including Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale), John Diggle (David Ramsey), and the gruesome villain Bloodwork (Sendhil Ramamurthy). It was also previously revealed that Javicia Leslie would reprise her role as Batwoman (as well as another mystery character we won’t spoil...

It’s the end of an era. After the better part of a decade on air, The Flash season 9, currently set to go into production this Fall and premiere in early 2023, will mark the show’s end. It’s hard to imagine what a superhero television landscape will look like without this show, which has helped shape so many that came after it, thanks to its huge heart, bright tone, and empathetic storytelling.
With just 13 episodes, The Flash season 9 may have limited room to run, but that also means The CW’s flagship superhero property can still go out on its own terms, with a story that showcases just what this series has always done so well. Here are a few things we definitely need to see–and some we know aren’t exactly likely but we’re still hoping for anyway–in The Flash’s final season.

The Flash Season 8 Episode 18
The Flash’s Barry Allen has certainly helped shape the journeys of many of Central City’s superpowered heroes, from his teammates, to his boss (Captain Kramer) and even his own grown children (whenever Nora and Bart happen to pop in from the future). But “The Man in the Yellow Tie” sees him attempt to guide the journey of a new speedster whose abilities he doesn’t entirely understand.
Technically, we saw the debut of Dr. Meena Dhawan—a brilliant scientist who will eventually become the speedster known as Fast Track—in the closing moments of last week’s The Flash episode, “Keep It Dark.” But “The Man in the Yellow Tie” serves as a more proper origin story for her character, filling in the gaps of her history, sketching out the details of the machine that has granted her her power,...
