Since early in their existence, I have been a diehard fan of the Legion of Super-Heroes, so I am immediately drawn to anything featuring them. The current Warner Animation release, Legion of Super-Heroes, certainly makes me smile—that is, when I’m not grimacing.

The film picks up on the current animated continuity so we have a Supergirl (Meg Donnelly), relatively new to Earth. She’s a headstrong teen still coming into her powers, and for some reason, Superman (Darren Criss), who already had the benefit of Pa Kent’s tutelage, can’t manage her. Netflix has released the first trailer for its forthcoming series “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” which premieres on the streamer August 30. Based on Jim Henson’s 1982 feature film, the 10-episode adaptation is set ten years prior to the movie’s epic events.

The story centers around three Gelfling heroes — voiced by Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy and Nathalie Emmanuel — who set out on a long journey to save their world.

MTV’s newest season of its unscripted series “Are You the One?” will be the first reality dating competition to include a sexually fluid cast. Anime fans rejoice. Sailor Moon R: The Movie is finally going to get a theatrical release in the United States. The 1993 feature-length addition to the Sailor Moon world has been in theaters abroad, and it's been released in home-video formats in the United States, but the upcoming theatrical run marks the first time the movie will show on the big screen in America.

The film will have event screenings in hundreds of U.S. theaters in January 2017. The showings will feature a remastered and redubbed version of the film, and some showings will present a version in Japanese with English subtitles. The showings are being produced by Toei Animation and Viz Media, and tickets will be available through Eleven Arts.
