Roman Kovalik is a classically trained composer, music producer and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for his modern writing style, dramatic sensibility, and sleek music production skills.
He has scored a dozen feature films including the award winning "Butterfly Caught", "Please Come with Me", "Blue Jay" and "Beyond the Trek" which won "Best Original Score 2016" at the International Independent Film Awards. Roman was also the composer for the critically acclaimed feature documentaries "Still Human", "Knox Mine Disaster" and "Passage of Time", as well as for the seasonal horror comedy cult classic "Ugly Sweater Party".
His music can be heard across major TV networks including ABC, NBC, Discovery Channel, PBS, E!, National Geographic Channel, Fox Sports, A&E, SyFy and others. He has written music for numerous TV shows such as "The First 48", "Running Wild with Bear Grylls", "Wicked Tuna", "Cults and Extreme Beliefs" and "Most Daring."
Roman has worked with a number of well-known composers including Mark Kilian (Eye in the Sky, Tsotsi, Official Secrets) and Stephen Edwards (The Prestige, The Mechanic, Feast), programmed scores for Christopher Young (Sinister, Hellraiser, Spider-Man 3) and joined Shawn K. Clement's (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Most Daring, Top 20 Countdown; Most Shocking) staff writing team, composing and producing music to picture on a weekly schedule for television series on TrueTV.
In the mid '90s, Roman made a name for himself as a pioneer of the "gothic metal" genre with his internationally renowned band "Succubus". This lead him to a career as a composer for theater in his native Switzerland. Discovering his passion for music in the visual arts, he moved to Boston and earned his B.A. in Film Scoring and a Certificate of Excellence in Composition from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Since 2006, he has lived in Los Angeles and continues to work on award winning movies and TV shows.
