Christian Basso (born in Buenos Aires 27th September 1966) is an
Argentinian composer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist. As a solo
he edited ¨Espiritista¨ (2014, Crack/Sony Music), ¨La Música Cura!¨
(2011, Random records), ¨La Pentalpha¨ (2004, Los Años Luz Discos),
¨Profania¨ (2001, Random Records). Prestigious musicians have
participated in these discography projects such as the soprano Eva
Faludi (National Poliphonic Choir), american singer Kal Cahoone
(Lilium), the chinese singer Haien Qiu and the musician as well as
arranger Alejandro Teran among some others. Christian has composed
several film scores. He has worked for the prestigious Korean director
Lee Chang Dong in the film ¨Secret Sunshine/Milyang, which in 2007 won
the Gold Palm in Cannes. In Mexico, he worked for the films ¨No eres
tu, soy yo (2010) directed by Alejandro Springall, ¨Nos vemos Papa
(2011) whose director was Lucia Carreras, ¨Marcelo (2012) directed by
Omar Yñigo and ¨Tlatelolco/Verano del 68 ¨(2012, the movie and TV
serie) which has been directed by Carlos Bolado. In Argentina, he has
written the music for La invencion de la carne (2009) of Santiago Loza,
Eva and Lola (2010) of Sabrina Farji, La Despedia (2012) whose director
was Chavo D'Emilio and Las Mujeres llegan tarde of Marcela Balza.
Moreover, some songs which Christian has written were included in some
films like "Star Maps" (USA, 1997), "Sexo, Pudor y Lagrimas" (MEX,
1999), "Dot the i" (UK, 2003), the TV serie ¨Carlos¨ (FR 2011) directed
by Oliver Assayas and recently the inclusion of his song ¨Flowers¨ in
the film¨No se aceptan devoluciones/Instructions not included¨ (Mex,
2013) directed by Eugenio Derbez. Christian integrates the group
¨Sexteto Irreal¨ together with the musicians Axel Krygier, Alejandro
Teran, Manuel Schaller y Fernando Samalea. In 2010, they edited a disc
named Jogging a traves de los Años Luz Discos. They have performed in
Bs As and the rest of the country many times. Between 2010 and 2014
Christian has benn consecutively music jury of Latin America K-POP, a
competition where different latin American candidates interpret Korean
pop songs. Basso gained recognition on the local scene thanks to
different projects carried out with Charly Garcia (Las Ligas), Richard
Coleman, Gustavo Cerati and Fernando Samalea (Fricción), Daniel
Melingo, Javier Malosetti, María Gabriela Epumer, among others; and
principally while iniciating his career as a composer with La
Portuaria. Christian has been the ideologist as well as the founding
member together with Diego Frenkel of this band. His songs, in
coauthorship with Frenkel, evolved into representative icons of this
band. An example could be Selva y El bar de la calle Rodney. The band
recorded six albums for EMI. What is more, he took part in a great
quantity of international tours and is responsible for an important
number of CD releases.
