Netflix series “Sweet Tooth” will be returning for its third and final season this summer, and a new teaser trailer unveiled this morning previews an epic final chapter ahead.

The final season debuts globally on Netflix on June 6, 2024.

All good things must end, but the end may be coming sooner than expected for Netflix's "Sweet Tooth." The hit series, which is based on Jeff Lemire's DC Comics/Vertigo book of the same name, has been renewed for a third and final season by the streaming service. What's more, the third season has already been filmed, indicating that we may actually be seeing it sooner rather than later.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix already wrapped production on "Sweet Tooth" season 3, with filming taking place in New Zealand. Now The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Netflix has ordered a third season of the show – in fact, production on the season has already taken in place in New Zealand and it’s now wrapped! Netflix has also confirmed that Sweet Tooth season 3 will be the final season of the show.

If there's anything that the recent premiere of "The Last of Us" showed us, it's that there's still plenty of juice to wring out of the post-apocalyptic genre. Netflix’s series “Sweet Tooth” will be returning for Season 2 here in early 2023, with the streaming service announcing today that the second season will premiere on April 27, 2023.

In “Sweet Tooth” Season 2, “Get ready for the hybrids to fight back! Gus and his fellow hybrids are held captive by the Last Men in order to find a cure for the Sick. To save his friends, Gus must find new strength as he uncovers the origins of The Great Crumble.”

Season 2 of the streamer’s comic adaptation will drop on Thursday, April 27, with all eight episodes. The show’s return will mark the end of a 22-month hiatus, with Season 1 having released back in June 2021.

A year and a half has gone by since we heard that Netflix had ordered a second season of the series Sweet Tooth, which is an adaptation of the DC Vertigo comic book that ran from 2009 to 2013 for a total of 40 issues. Now Deadline finally has an update on what’s going on with Sweet Tooth season 2. Deadline reports that cast members Naledi Murray (The Undoing), Neil Sandilands (The Flash), and Marlon Williams (A Star Is Born), all of whom had recurring roles in season 1, have been promoted to series regulars for season 2. Christopher Sean Cooper Jr. (Circle Of Sisters Expo) and Yonas Kibreab (Blood Moon) have also joined the cast as new series regulars.

Deadline notes that Murray portrays Wendy, Sandilands is General Abbot, Williams plays Johnny Abbot, Cooper will play Teddy Turtle, and Kibreab will portray Finn Fox.

Sweet Tooth's story is far from over.

Netflix on Thursday announced a renewal for Sweet Tooth Season, citing what the company calls as "60 million member households" watching the show in its first four weeks.

As is the case with Netflix's arbitrary numbers, the number above means that each of those households watched at two minutes of the series.

Sweet Tooth Season 2 will consist of 8 1-hour episodes.

Jim Mickle will serve as Executive Producer, Writer, Director, and Showrunner for season 2. Mickle said of the renewal,

“It’s been equally thrilling and heartwarming to experience how people around the world have been falling in love with our deer-boy."

"We couldn’t be more excited to continue our collaboration with Netflix and keep following Gus and his friends on their extraordinary journey,” he continued.

In addition to Mickle, Team Downey’s Susan Downey, Robert Downey Jr., and Amanda Burrell, and Linda Moran will return as Executive Producers.

Comic book adaptation Sweet Tooth is returning for a second season on Netflix.

This comes after the fantasy drama pulled in 60M viewers in its first four weeks after its June 4 launch, putting it at No. 6 in the streamer’s list of most-watched English-language original series, ahead of Emily in Paris and just below The Queen’s Gambit.

The series, which will return for another eight-part run, is based on the DC comic book series by Jeff Lemire.
