(Welcome to The Daily Stream, an ongoing series in which the /Film team shares what they've been watching, why it's worth checking out, and where you can stream it.)
The Series: "Space Dandy"
Where You Can Stream It: Crunchyroll
The Pitch: "It's the new show by Shinichiro Watanabe." That's all people needed to get excited for "Space Dandy," a series pitched as a spiritual successor to anime classics "Cowboy Bebop" and "Samurai Champloo." "Bebop" defined the adolescence of American anime fandom with its stylish, sad storytelling on Adult Swim in 2001. Since then, the runaway success of "Attack on Titan" on streaming services in 2013 transformed anime into an international hitmaker. Popular American cartoons like "Steven Universe" borrowed from anime, and their artists would say as much in interviews. Now one of the medium's greatest producers and auteurs, after years of toil behind the scenes, was ready to blow everybody away with an all-new vision.

Japanese creators have the uncanny ability of making nonsensical and preposterous themes and notions seem coherent, and in the process creating very entertaining titles. This tendency becomes quite evident in some of the anime series of the latest years, as the “Monogatari” series, “Kill La Kill” and “Assassination Classroom.” “One Punch Man” is also a distinct example of the tendency.
The anime is based on the homonymous, ongoing web comic by One, which begun publication in 2009. In 2012, Viz Media remade it into an extremely successful manga that sold over 4,5 million copies by 2014, and in 2015, Madhouse produced the anime series, which consists of 12 episodes.
The script revolves around Saitama, a human so strong that can vanquish any kind of enemy comes his way with just a single punch. And living in City Z, where monsters appear frequently to cause disasters, he has plenty of chances to do so.

It appears Boogiepop And Others Season 2 be necessary to faithfully adapt the original light novel series in full. Already, the official website has confirmed that the anime will be a two-cour season with 18 episodes. But the episodes announced so far in January 2019 do seem to leave room for a full second season. Marking the 20th Anniversary of Kouhei Kadono’s original novel debut, animation studio Madhouse is adapting the story for TV screens as part of Dengeki Bunko’s 25th-anniversary celebration. Director Shingo Natsume of One Punch Man and Space Dandy fame is leading the project while Tomohiro Suzuki […]

Have you ever watched something and just said “Yes”. You know what I mean, it just makes you think ‘That… that right there’. That is exactly the feeling you will get when you turn on One Punch Man for the first time.
A beautiful coming together of hilarious, superbly written, deadpan comedy taking aim at the superhero genre, and absolutely gorgeous striking animation that actually compliments the world it is portraying, instead of giving the often jarring experience that a lot (not all but a lot) of anime shows or movies can have.
But what is One Punch Man? In a word… Genius!

News first surfaced on an anime adaptation of One-Punch Man earlier this month with a second report stating that it would premiere later this year in October. Now, we have details on the anime studio and staff that will be working on the project. Madhouse, the studio behind great anime series such as Hunter x Hunter and Batman: Gotham Knight among others, is the Japanese animation studio shepherding the project. Director Shingo Natsume (Space Dandy) will be directing the series while Chikashi Kubota (Gurren Lagann, Space Dandy) will design the characters. One-Punch Man is a manga series written by One with art from Yuusuke Murata that revolves around the titular hero, Saitama and his everyday life as a superhero. In his quest to become strong, Saitama trained to such an extent that he can defeat any enemy with just one punch. The drawback to having such power is that Saitama...
