Rooster Teeth, the production company behind the popular digital series “Lazer Team” and “Red Vs. Blue,” announced today five new actors joining the cast of their first live-action drama, the post-apocalyptic thriller, “Day 5.”

William Sadler, who played Heywood in “The Shawshank Redemption” and more recently appeared in “Iron Man 3,” will play The Sandman, an elusive leader of a desert camp who is rumored to have found a way to sleep. Founders Jennifer Blanc-Biehn and Michael Biehn announced on Wednesday they have secured a deal for the Hidden In The Woods remake from Chilean genre specialist Patricio Valladares.

Hidden In The Woods will open at the end of the year via Origin Releasing/eOne.

Kevin and Bradley Marcus adapted the English-language screenplay. Biehn and Blanc-Biehn star alongside William Forsythe, Jeannine Kaspar, Electra Avellan, Chris Browning, Andy Mackenzie, Richard Gunn, Caitlin Keats, Grace Powell and Mark Gantt.

The Girl (UK title Psychopath) will go on release later this year through IndustryWorks Pictures/Origin Releasing and Safecracker Films.

Blanc-Biehn directed the thriller from a script by the Marcuses.

Here's a fun action-packed short film from Robert Rodriguez called Two Scoops. It stars twin actresses Electra Avellan and Elise Avellan, who have appeared in the previous Rodriguez films Machete and Grindhouse. They play "ice cream scoopers by day," and "danger seekers by night."

One of the awesome things about this project is that when it was announced, Rodriguez invited fans to shoot footage of themselves for the opportunity to collaborate with Rodriguez on finishing the film. The movie has now been completed, and you can watch it below.

With filming of Blanc/Biehn Productions' remake of Hidden in the Woods set to begin July 1st in and around Houston, Texas, all the major players are lining up, and handling effects will be Vincent Guastini's V.G.P. Effects & Design Studio.

Hidden in the Woods star Michael Biehn met Guastini when they briefly worked together on Sushi Girl (in which Hitw co-star Andy Mackenzie also appeared), and Biehn was so impressed with V.G.P.'s work, the producers asked Guastini to come on board and supervise with Evelyn Belmar and Vanessa Cartier. Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired the rights to "Amelia's 25th" and "Silver Case," the distributor announced on Monday. Neither of the films will be screened at Sundance. "Amelia's 25th" stars Jennifer Tilly, Danny Trejo, Electra Avellan and Robert Rodriguez, who directed Trejo and Avellan in "Machete." The film, directed by Martín Yernazian, follows the titular character (Avellan), a struggling Los Angeles actress about to turn 25. Open Road Films recently acquired Machete Kills for Us Distribution with plans to release the movie theatrically in 2013. With the announcement, we saw the first official photo, featuring Amber Heard and Danny Trejo. We now have a new photo that was recently posted by Alexa Vega and appears in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine.

“Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent Machete, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.”

Machete Kills features the return of Danny Trejo, along with the appearances from Michelle Rodriguez, Mel Gibson, Sofia Vergara, Demian Bichir, Amber Heard, Zoe Saldana, Jessica Alba, Charlie Sheen, Alexa Vega, Lady Gaga, William Sadler, Electra Avellan, and Elise Avellan.

We were curious to see if Fox was going to pick up Machete Kills, as they distributed the first film, but it has just been announced that Open Road Films acquired the movie for Us distribution. Open Road had a huge win with The Grey earlier this year, and is releasing a number of upcoming titles, including Silent Hill: Revelation 3D later this month.

According to Deadline, the plan is for a wide theatrical release some time in 2013. Machete Kills features the return of Danny Trejo, along with the appearances from Michelle Rodriguez, Mel Gibson, Sofia Vergara, Demian Bichir, Amber Heard, Zoe Saldana, Jessica Alba, Charlie Sheen, Alexa Vega, Lady Gaga, William Sadler, Electra Avellan, and Elise Avellan.

Lindsay Lohan's "Machete" co-star Electra Avellan tried to keep the troubled star out of jail on Friday, September 24 by writing a heartfelt note to Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox. The actress, who also appeared in her uncle Robert Rodriguez's "Grindhouse" movies, pleaded with Fox to spare her pal from another spell behind bars.

In the letter obtained by TMZ, which was also signed by other Lohan friends, Avellan wrote, "I have had the pleasure to get to know her (Lohan) very well and have endured the past year with her through her highs and lows. I am desperate to get this message to you."

"She is working really hard to be better and has done everything possible to stay healthy and clean. We (family members and loving friends) have separated her from anyone who can harm her or deviate her from her goals which are to be a model citizen.

Lindsay Lohan arrived at an La courthouse today to face a judge after she violated the terms of her probation by failing two drug tests. She was looking at a 30-day stint in jail for each infraction, though she was rumored to be off the hook for one test related to her prescribed use of Adderall - TMZ is now reporting that a judge took her into custody and she's being held without bail, and possibly may be in jail until Oct. 22. While Lindsay Lohan stayed home to be a good girl, her Machete costars and director came out in full force at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles to promote the new movie.

But was there just a little animosity toward the fresh-out-of-rehab actress for her no-show? Not at all it seems!

Although a source revealed that “she really wanted to come,” Lindsay apparently decided to avoid the event to maintain her sobriety.

Even director Robert Rodriguez wasn’t disappointed with Lilo’s non-presence, saying: “There’s three more premieres coming up, she she’ll see one of them.”

And the head honcho said giving Lindsay the role wasn’t a risk at all.

“Have you seen it? She’s great! She’s great in the movie. You’ll see that she’s perfect for it,” said Rodriguez.
