“We have such sights to show you.”
From Lionsgate UK, Hellraiser: Judgment – the tenth and latest of the series – is the second of two Hellraiser films to have new releases in the UK, both digitally and physically. In having same day releases with its predecessor, Hellraiser: Revelations, the two most recent Hellraiser films now sit alongside the original trilogy as having official UK Blu-ray releases.
Originally released in 2018, Hellraiser: Judgment opens in the bizarre fashion of a tramp sex offender strapped into a wheelchair, with his blood fueling the ink of a typewriter, confessing his sins to a morbid-looking auditor – played excellently by writer-director Gary J. Tunnicliffe. What follows is wildly sadistic and grotesque, all appearing before the title sequence too – a very fair warning for what you’re in for! The plot...

Pinhead is still lurking, but the iconic series’ once-interesting eroticism has degenerated into nasty titillation in this sorry sequel
There have been so many additions to the Hellraiser franchise since the first one debuted in 1987 that we’ve now got to the stage when it’s best not to remind viewers how many there have been, lest the young uns think it’s some kind of musty Gen X thing that just won’t die. Which it kind of is, to be honest. This latest contribution, written and directed by makeup effects specialist Gary J Tunnicliffe, feels like a pretty degraded mutation from the original concept. Where the first few Hellraisers had an interesting if somewhat icky erotic tang to them – alluding to S&m/fetish culture as much as horror, and featuring female protagonists – Judgment is less about desire than just straight-up misogyny and gory, gross-out money shots.

I thought I’d try to watch a few more new horror movies by the end of 2018 – December is usually just for Christmas movies for me – but The Harrowing sounded interesting from the few things I’ve read about it so I gave it a go.
The first thing I noticed about The Harrowing is that it looks great. I honestly don’t know its budget but I can assure you this would be what most would call a ‘low budget movie’. And it proves that low budget doesn’t mean that your film should look amateur. Here the picture is the highest of quality, the sound is perfect but also, the one thing...

The unofficial Hellraiser: Judgment post-mortem continues today, with writer-director Gary J. Tunnicliffe running the rule over a particular scene that was deemed too shocking to keep in the final cut. Given that the film is already pretty extreme at some points with its gore and violence, offering up tons of imagery that you won’t soon forget, it’s hard to believe that they initially tried to push things even further, but according to Tunnicliffe, they did, and the studio eventually put their foot down.
In a recent interview with Bloody-Disgusting, he explained what exactly the scene in question involved, and we must say, it’s easy to see why Dimension Films had a tough time with it:
“People have been reacting (gagging etc.) to some of the imagery in the movie, but the truth is there were elements that were a lot more shocking that were nixed from the...

On the eve of release, a deleted scene and strangely hilarious gag reel for Hellraiser: Judgment have been summoned up from the fiery depths of hell.
The former comes to us by way of Bloody Disgusting and places detectives Sean Carter (Damon Carney) and Christine Egerton (Alexandra Harris) in a nondescript church, where they ramble on about religion, the Old Testament, and their own struggles as lapsed Christians.
You can see why it didn’t make the cut, as it’s a little cliché and doesn’t necessarily advance the plot, but fans of Hellraiser will still find comfort in this human-oriented scene that takes place far beyond the bowels of Pinhead’s lair.
Speaking of which, Screen Rant completed today’s unofficial one-two punch by releasing Judgment‘s gag reel, which finds fun behind the torturous horror and sadomasochism, followed by a shot of Pinhead, an ancient (immortal?) being of indescribable power,...

For those Hellraiser fans who’ve yet to abandon Pinhead’s sin-o-rama condemnation – how could you miss Hellraiser: Deader (real title) – 2018 brings yet another straight-to-video (ceno)bite of sadomasochism. Enter Hellraiser: Judgment, Gary J. Tunnicliffe’s religious allegory about divinity, evil and *putrid* torture exploitation. The chains that bind are greased and tightened once more, but a task force retread ends up overshadowing most of Pinhead’s minimal exposure. It’s serial killer procedural flavors slapped between familiar franchise beats, none of which make for a double-decker delight.
Frankly, I liked Hellraiser: Judgment better when it was The Devil’s Carnival.
Detective brothers Sean (Damon Carney) and David Carter (Randy Wayne) are hot on the trail of their serial killer adversary, The Preceptor – this mass murderer who selects victims based on broken Commandments. One night Sean’s investigating a child predator’s apartment when he finds an address. Without backup,...

The steady, blood-red stream of Hellraiser: Judgment content continues today with Bloody Disgusting unveiling some creepy new stills from the forthcoming horror flick.
On paper, it’s the straight-to-video revival from Gary J. Tunnicliffe, who has been developing Judgment since as far back as 2015. Inspired by the works of Clive Barker, Tunnicliffe’s über-violent gorefest aims to resurrect the Cenobite Pinhead (Paul T. Taylor) in style, and maybe – just maybe – spawn a sequel of its own.
Before we get swept up by forward-thinking and speculation, though, Bloody Disgusting’s gallery is a puzzle box of sadomasochistic experiments, which, if nothing else, acts as living proof that Hellraiser: Judgment is four weeks away from making Event Horizon seem like a bright and breezy Disney movie.

Here's the trailer for the latest Hellraiser movie, Hellraiser: Judgment...
“I am a jealous god,” we see written in blood in the first Hellraiser: Judgment trailer, though the writer might be envious of the simple charm of the original classic horror film. Hellraiser (1987) was Clive Barker's directorial debut. It was based on his novella The Hellbound Heart. and introduced moviegoers to the Cenobites. The tenth film in the Hellraiser franchise turns Pinhead into serial killer. But it probably won’t be enough to kill the series. Hellraiser: Judgment will be meted out on Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD on February 13 in the Us from Lionsgate. We don't have a UK release for it yet.

Hell is coming to home video on February 13th, and to champion the long-awaited arrival of Hellraiser: Judgment, Bloody Disgusting has premiered a gallery of truly gruesome images from the Gary J. Tunnicliffe feature.
Nipping at the undead heels of this morning’s trailer, the images below are not for the faint of heart. Indeed, anyone with prior knowledge of the cult Hellraiser series will know that ol’ Pinhead tends to leave a bloodbath in his wake, and that’s exactly what Judgment, the tenth instalment in this most bizarre of franchises, hopes to achieve.
And so, if you’re still pining for more horror-themed content following Lionsgate’s trailer debut, we’ve got you covered, as the gallery below is teeming with nightmarish treats. Highlights include blood, satanic rituals, more blood, close-ups of Pinhead, yet more blood and some…thing that closely resembles Nemesis from Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise.

"Evil seeks evil." Lionsgate has launched an official trailer for the latest Hellraiser film titled Hellraiser: Judgment, which is actually the 10th film in the Hellraiser series (believe it or not?). I didn't even realize there with this many. The original horror cult classic Hellraiser was released in 1987, from writer/director Clive Barker. Hellraiser: Judgment is directed by Gary J. Tunnicliffe, who has been working for two decades as a horror make-up effects artist before jumping into the director's seat this time. It tells the story of three detectives as they struggle to solve a horrifying murder, but instead find themselves thrust into the depths of Pinhead’s hellacious landscape. Starring Paul T. Taylor as Pinhead, along with Damon Carney, Randy Wayne, Alexandra Harris, John Gulager, Mike Jay Regan, plus Heather Langenkamp. See below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Gary J. Tunnicliffe's Hellraiser: Judgment, from YouTube: Detectives...

When any actor has embodied an iconic character for an extended period of time, it’s only understandable that fans sometimes have difficulty adjusting to their successors. Even in the case of a vastly talented performer like Jackie Earle Haley, there were many who just couldn’t accept someone playing Freddy Krueger other than Robert Englund. Likewise, we ask for no tears, please, regarding the third actor to play Pinhead – it’s a waste of good suffering.
As you may or may not know, Paul T. Taylor has been hired to portray the most recognizable of all Cenobites in the upcoming Hellraiser: Judgment, which happens to be the tenth installment in the franchise that originated in the mind of the one and only Clive Barker. This time, though, it’s a returning Gary J. Tunnicliffe, director of 2011’s Revelations, who’ll be taking us from the pinnacle to the pit.

When Gary J. Tunnicliffe waxes lyrical on the Hellraiser series, it’s worth standing up and taking notice.
Now on the verge of its tenth instalment, Hellraiser: Judgment, Tunnicliffe recently appeared on the latest episode of The Movie Crypt podcast (h/t Bloody Disgusting), in which the series veteran and frequent make-up artist teased some of the brutal horrors in store.
Directing from his own script, Hellraiser: Judgment is very much a passion project for Tunnicliffe, who told hosts Adam Green and Joe Lynch that he’s never had as much fun – nor has he worked so hard – during the production of Judgment. And yes, the end product will be fluent in scares and gruesome deaths.
I had the most fun on that I’ve ever had, and I’ve never worked so hard on a Hellraiser film, but we had a great time. We did two sequences where… one the actress almost passed out…...

The Lone Ranger weekend box office: Bigger flop than early estimates indicated? (Photo: Johnny Depp as Tonto, Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger) The Pirates of the Caribbean team is back with The Lone Ranger: that’s producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Gore Verbinski, screenwriters Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, actor Johnny Depp, and distributor Disney. But whereas Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the White Pearl, co-starring Keira Knightley, Geoffrey Rush, and Orlando Bloom, was a major domestic box-office hit, opening with $46.63 million at 3,269 locations in early July 2003 (approximately $61 million today) and going on to gross $305.41 million in North America (approximately $402 million today), The Lone Ranger is bound to become one of the biggest domestic box-office flops of 2013 in relation to its exorbitant $215 million production budget, alongside several other costly underperformers at the North American box office: M. Night Shyamalan / Will Smith’s After Earth, Roland Emmerich’s White House Down,...

The Lone Ranger 2013 box office: $200 million Western flops (photo: Johnny Depp as Tonto, Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger) The best thing that can be said about Disney spending $200+ million on the 2013 movie The Lone Ranger — not including another $100 million or so in marketing / distribution costs — is that the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced, Gore Verbinski-directed comic Western starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer didn’t cost $250 million like the studio’s 2012 box-office bomb John Carter. (Update: The Lone Ranger weekend box-office: A bigger flop than originally thought?) Currently with a dismal 11% approval rating and 4.2/10 average among Rotten Tomatoes‘ top critics, The Lone Ranger collected an abysmal — in relation to its exorbitant costs — $9.65 million on opening day, Wednesday, July 3, at 3,904 North American locations, in addition to another $9.85 million on the July 4 holiday according to Box Office Mojo. The Lone Ranger‘s two-day total is $19.5 million, which will, according to early, rough Friday estimates found at Deadline.

The Lone Ranger 2013: Johnny Depp as a Native American Jack Sparrow (photo: Johnny Depp as Tonto in The Lone Ranger) [See previous post: "The Lone Ranger Movie Review: Pirates of the Caribbean in Western Garb."] Gore Verbinski fills The Lone Ranger with ticklish insider references to other classic Westerns and even gives a nod to Johnny Depp’s 1995 oater Dead Man. And, as usual, the director busts out the crane shots — and it’s always a kick to see how his latest swooping camera move will reveal detail and add spikes of humor. The flip side is that Verbinski will indulge any plot complication as long as it results in another action sequence. John and Tonto’s search for Cavendish often takes them to a railroad track, railroad tunnel, or railroad train, where a loud and kicky set piece awaits its cue. In fact, six miles of track and two locomotives were constructed just to add authenticity to The Lone Ranger, even though there...

We return with the latest edition of the Indie Spotlight, highlighting recent independent horror news sent our way. Today’s feature includes release details for A Resurrection, the first teaser trailer for Ten, a review of Smiley, and much more:
First Teaser Trailer for Ten: “Ten is a collectivist, post-exploitation psychological thriller devised as a possible explanation for the events of the 1972 Spektor Island Massacre. On a cold December afternoon, ten women arrive at a mansion on Spektor Island, famed for years of reported hauntings and strange activities. Will they live through the night?
The all-female cast film is a response to exploitation, slasher, and thriller films, with particular focus on the kind of storytelling prominent in b-movies and genre films from the 1950s to the 1980s. It explores the meaning and fluidity of identity and takes a number of surprising turns, paying homage to filmmakers and producers such as Alfred Hitchcock,...
