The show may be called "The Boys," but it proves time and time again that girls do get it done. Eric Kripke's superhero satire, adapted from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's even more controversial comic series, has a feminist bent and a recurring theme of its female characters asserting agency. Starlight/Annie January (Erin Moriarty) is the greatest example, with her literally becoming a progressive icon and thoughtful leader in-universe.
As part of the series' critique of corporate America, though, it does not celebrate rainbow capitalism (i.e. putting individuals from marginalized groups at the top of institutions doing the marginalizing). Girlboss characters are never celebrated on "The Boys," from soulless exec Madelyn Stillwell (Elisabeth Shue), to serpentine politician Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), to Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) — a PR flack in way over her head as Homelander's (Antony Starr) lackey.

The Boys has always mixed in a healthy dose of political satire along with its comic book and comic book movie parodies, and while they're not particularly subtle, they are usually pretty effective.
Former President Donald Trump has become a favourite target of the Prime Video series, and this latest image shared on the official Vought International X account is a clear shot at Trump's recent appearance working the drive-through of a Pennsylvania McDonald's restaurant.
"Growing up, Homelander dreamed of working at his local Vought A Burger. Recently, his wish came true, as Vought shut down a restaurant and staged pre-selected customers, so Homelander could “serve” “people” “food.” Thanks, Homelander, for showing everyone how you’re a true man of the people!"

Prime Video has announced an explosive new addition to the fifth and final season of The Boys, with Stranger Things alum Mason Dye set to play Bombsight.
Though this Supe doesn't appear to be based on any specific character from the comics, he was mentioned last season as the star of a '50s Vought superhero film called The Curse of Fu Manchu.
So, like Soldier Boy and Stormfront, this guy has been around for quite a while.
According to Variety, Bombsight is also likely to appear in the upcoming prequel series Vought Rising opposite Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash.
We recently learned that Daveed Diggs (Snowpiercer) has also joined the cast of season 5, but details on his character are being kept under wraps.

Before the tragic events of the season 4 finale, Victoria Neuman was one of the most exciting characters on "The Boys." Sure, she had a questionable habit of blowing up people's heads, but she looked cool doing it and she held her own against Homelander, so it's easy to forgive. Claudia Doumit in particular deserves credit for her portrayal of the character, elevating what could've been a one-dimensional villain into a fun, complicated figure. But before she was cast to play Neuman, Doumit originally tried out for a completely different part: she auditioned for Ashley Barrett, the high-strung Vought assistant turned high-strung Vought CEO.
"I remember I originally came in for the role of Ashley the publicist," Doumit explained in a recent interview. "I came in for that role originally and I knew I wasn't right for it, and I didn't get it, obviously, and then the first season of the show came out.

Entertainment Weekly has revealed that The Boys season 5 has tapped Daveed Diggs for a mystery role in the R-Rated Prime Video series.
The actor is best known for starring in Hamilton (which was already a hit but became a global phenomenon thanks to Disney+) and counts the likes of Snowpiercer, The Little Mermaid, and Velvet Buzzsaw among his many film and television roles.
This isn't the first time he's circled a superhero project as it's widely believed he was a frontrunner to play Ben Grimm/The Thing in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps. That role ultimately went to Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
Diggs has also lent his voice to Amazon's Invincible as Theo, a member of a therapy group who lost their loved ones to superheroes.
As is so often the case, there's currently no word on who the actor is playing in The Boys. The series veered away from the comics some time ago,...

The Boys is one of the world’s most popular superhero series. Based on the eponymous comic book, this dark take on the genre has gained significant traction on Amazon Prime and continues to push the boundaries of what can be shown on television.
With four successful seasons and a spin-off already under its belt, the showrunners are now working on the fifth and final season. Hints of an incredible conclusion abound, and given where the fourth season left us, it’s easy to believe them.
The final season is set to bring major changes, particularly for the character of Ashley, whose storyline in Season 4 suggests a grim fate. However, while Ashley’s story takes a darker turn, the actress behind the role, Colby Minifie, has proven to be a genuine sweetheart—completely different from her character in The Boys.

The Boys: Firecracker Actress Valorie Curry Calls Out Fan Who Crossed A Boundary At Recent Comic-Con
The recent fourth season of The Boys saw Homelander recruit two new members of The Seven, one of whom turned out to be alt-right TV host Firecracker: an openly racist, homophobic and all-round nasty customer with an axe to grind against Annie January, aka Starlight (Erin Moriarty).
Over the course of the season, Firecracker finds a way to endear herself to Homelander by taking a course of drugs which allow her to lactate. If you know anything about the seriously messed-up leader of The Seven, you'll no doubt understand why this would be of great interest to him!
Firecracker actress Valorie Curry recently attended Comic-Con Northern Ireland, and while she makes a point of noting that she had a mostly very pleasant experience, she has shared an Instagram video addressing one particularly "uncomfortable" encounter with a fan who crossed a boundary while waiting in line to meet her.

The chaotic finale of Season 4 left many questions unanswered, with every character, including Ashley, facing unresolved issues. Although Ashley hasn’t been a central figure, her character arc in Season 4 was compelling, and her storyline’s chaotic ending has left fans eager to see how it will unfold.
As we previously reported, Ashley’s life took a dramatic turn in Season 4, culminating in her becoming the latest non-super to inject herself with Compound V. This move has had significant repercussions, as we’ve seen with other characters who have undergone similar transformations.
The final season will address the fallout from this shocking decision, revealing what becomes of Ashley. In a recent interview with Variety, actress Colbie Minifie was asked about Ashley’s future. While she didn’t disclose specific details, Minifie hinted that Ashley’s storyline is set to take a bizarre and tumultuous path in the show’s concluding season.

For such a brutally violent, anarchic series, The Boys hasn't been particularly ruthless when it comes to killing off its main characters over the course of four seasons, but, not too surprisingly, it sounds like this will change in the fifth and final batch of episodes.
While speaking to TV Guide about his plans for the final season, showrunner Eric Kripke was asked if he's already decided who is going to survive and who will come to a no-doubt messy end.
"Anyone who dies in season 5 will richly deserve it. We have a certain sense of who live and who dies, but we don't have it all totally figured out. But you get to do the final season of a show and go out on your own terms, so not everyone's making it through."
Potential spoilers follow.

It's safe to say that Prime Video's "The Boys" has become a television phenomenon far exceeding the healthy but comparatively modest popularity of its source material. Although the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson-created comic series had its share of devoted fans long before the TV adaptation came around, you'd be hard-pressed to find many fans of "The Boys" today who wouldn't agree that the show improved on the comics, deepening its storytelling, characters, mythos, and political satire while avoiding certain pitfalls.
It would appear that the show's writers, led by showrunner Eric Kripke, pulled off that improvement not by staying faithful but by straying completely from the source. Beyond the premise and the basic outline of characters and organizations -- with even some of those being drastically changed -- "The Boys" comics and "The Boys" TV show might as well be two entirely different properties. Kripke and company have...

There are violent shows, there are shows that become famous for their violence, and then, in a separate league somewhere between "Mortal Kombat" fatality animations and full-blown splatter cinema, there is Prime Video's "The Boys." Eric Kripke's adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic series has become infamous for placing absolutely no restraints on the destructive potential of superpowers, pushing Superman-like strength to brutal results with a level of wicked ingenuity and imagination that approaches cosmic horror -- and in some cases fully evokes it.
Season 4, which began on June 13, 2024 and wrapped up on July 18, may have just been the most violent season yet; there's an expectation at this point that the show will keep finding ways to one-up its own gory setpieces. But it was also a savage season for many other reasons, some wholly unrelated to gore. Here, we've organized some particularly grueling moments into a ranking of brutality,...

The Boys universe continues to expand, with a third spin-off series announced this evening during the Prime Video's show's San Diego Comic-Con panel.
Vought Rising will be a prequel series focusing on the origins of the all-encompassing corporation from the main series, with both Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash set to reprise their respective roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront.
Spoilers for the season 4 finale of The Boys ahead.
Ackles also made an appearance on stage at Hall H, confirming that Solider Boy will return as a series regular for the fifth and final season after making a brief appearance in the season 4 finale's post-credits scene.
“From the very beginning, I wanted to wrap it out around season five,” said showrunner Eric Kripke. “You can have your calm-before-the-storm moment, which is kind of what season four is for me. I say calm… you know what I mean. It’s about...

The Boys continues to be a hit for Amazon.
Season 4 of the Prime Video series, which ended on July 18, exceeded 55M viewers through its first 39 days post-premiere. That’s with just a few days of viewership for the finale.
It marks the third consecutive season of audience growth for The Boys, up 20% from Season 3 in the same time frame. It’s not Prime Video’s fourth most-viewed TV season of all time and the second most-viewed returning season of a series after Reacher Season 2.
Amazon says that 60% of the show’s Season 4 audience came from outside the U.S. with strong performances in UK, Brazil, India, Germany, Canada, France, Mexico, Spain, and Italy.
Good news for fans of The Boys: Season 5 is already in the works. Creator Eric Kripke told Deadline that the Season 5 writer’s room had convened a month or five weeks before the launch of Season...

Does Homelander hate women?
As season 4 of The Boys came to a close, Homelander actor Antony Starr sat down with Vulture for a deep dive into what makes the evil Superman tick, and one question in particular seemed to provide a lot of clarity.
When the interviewer asserted that Homelander seems to hate women, Starr was quick to dissuade that notion, stating that the lab-built superhero has conflicting feelings when it comes to the opposite sex.
"I think it’s a little more complicated than that [Laughs]," said Starr.
In response to the interviewer's reference to Madelyn Stillwell, Queen Maeve, Sister Sage and Firecracker, he replied, "Across the board, those actresses that you listed — fantastic. It’s vitally important that you have a good rapport with the people you’re working with, particularly when you’re dealing with this very strange Oedipal complex Homelander has."
"Homelander wasn’t raised with parents.

Get ready for a somewhat lengthy wait to see how phase 2 of Homelander and Sister Sage's dastardly plan for America shakes out. Actor Karl Urban has confirmed that the final season of The Boys won't begin streaming until 2026 in a post to his Instagram account.
"Working with the illustrious Jeffrey Dean Morgan was the best part of my day every day. That’s all @theboystv for now folks. See you in …2 years (wish it was sooner) for the final season on Prime Video," wrote Urban.

With the conclusion of the show's fourth season, The Boys has journeyed incredibly far from the source material (a 2006 Dynamite comic book series from Garth Ennis and illustrator Darick Robertson), meaning it is anyone's guess as to how the show will conclude.

With the world of The Boys taking drastic measures to survive in whichever way possible, some of its characters are quite literally a hair’s breadth away from meeting an excruciating end. As the gory, risqué series enters the final leg of its grotesque and transformative journey, some essential elements of its plot need to be rehashed before the fans can witness a satisfying conclusion to the story.

While some characters desperately hold on to whatever remnants of power they still possess under Homelander’s age of anarchy, it is a tragic fate for those who are pitiably human, even in the face of a nuclear super-human war. Though season 4 of The Boys kept its principal characters alive and kicking as we head into the final season, we did lose a couple of supporting players - one of whom had emerged as a series regular and the focus of this season's main storyline.
Spoilers follow.
After Ryan accidentally(?) kills Grace Mallory, Billy Butcher abandons his humanity and decides to fully embrace his darker side and allow his V-induced tumour - which manifests as his late army buddy Joe Kessler - to take the wheel.
Butcher interrupts a meeting between his crew and Victoria Neuman, who had a change of heart and agreed to turn against Homelander for the sake of her daughter, Zoe. Unfortunately, Neuman's redemption arc is short-lived, as Butcher unleashes tentacles from his chest and brutally kills the VP-elect by ripping her in half.

The season 4 finale of The Boys is now streaming on Prime Video, and the episode - previously titled "Assassination Run" before the recent attempt on Donald Trump's life - concluded with Homelander one step away from the Oval Office... and arguably more deranged and ruthless than ever.
During an interview with Collider, actor Antony Starr was asked if he's still having fun playing the villainous leader of the Seven, and the frequent comparisons to Trump.
"One of the great things that I’ve loved, and I do love about this show, and I will continue to love as we keep going, is the layers that we’ve been able to put in with this character. We’ve always been conscious of making him three-dimensional, and not making him mustache-twirling. The season 4 finale of The Boys is now streaming, and Prime Video has released a series of new posters which hint at the potentially catastrophic events to come in the fifth and final season.
Spoilers from this point on.
Season 4 did not conclude on a positive note for our heroes - to say the least. Billy Butcher gave in to his dark side (manifested by the late Joe Kessler), killing Victoria Neuman and setting off on his own to begin his crusade to wipe out all Supes.
This leaves the rest of the team on the run, with everyone bar Annie rounded up by Homelander's forces, while the now unopposed leader of the Seven moves one step closer to world domination.
While speaking to LadBible.com, showrunner Eric Kripke teased what's to come in season 5.

A musical dream sequence aside, The Boys' sweet, good-natured, sporadically homicidal resident Supe, Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), has never uttered a single word - until this week's season 4 finale.
After first explaining to Frenchie (Tomer Kapone) that she lost her her ability to speak when she was forced to kill another girl by The Shining Light, Kimiko heartbreakingly finds her voice again when she's forced to watch her best friend taken away by Gen V's Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Sam (Asa Germann), with the former using her powers to place Frenchie under her control.
Unable to overpower the seemingly far stronger Sam, Kimiko repeatedly screams "no" as Frenchie is led away.
During an interview with Collider, Fukuhara revealed that she actually found it difficult to give her character a voice after playing her as mute for so many years.
"I had such a difficult time trying to find that. I know that,...

Season 3 of The Boys put the spotlight on Soldier Boy, revealing that he was Homelander's father before an explosive confrontation which ended with him seemingly blowing up high above Manhattan.
In reality, he survived and, after being recovered by Grace Mallory, was put back on ice. The world at large was led to believe Soldier Boy attacked Vought Tower and created a false narrative about him being radicalised by the Russians.
Despite making a cameo appearance in Gen V as Cate's imaginary "friend," Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy has been M.I.A. in The Boys season 4...until a must-see post-credits, that is.

Ever since we got our first look at The Boys season 4, much has been said about actor Laz Alonso's weight loss.
Having learned nothing from the late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman's battle with cancer (the internet dubbed him "crack panther" when he was spotted looking slimmer than normal), many fans wasted no time in poking fun at Alonso, going so far as to suggest Mother's Milk must have been recast.
In an interview with Men's Health, Alonso explained his decision to lose weight and revealed that it was both for his own good and something he believed made sense for the character.
"I was heavy on caloric surplus when I first started the show," the actor said. "Season 1 and 2, I wanted to look like the comic. Season 3, we shot during and after Covid and I went from looking like the comic to looking like a very inflated version of the comic.

The Boys wraps up its fourth season tomorrow, and Prime Video has now released a promo for the sure-to-be eventful episode, which is titled "Assassination Run."
The teaser sees a dying Billy Butcher bid an emotional goodbye to Hughie on the phone, as he asks him to tell the rest of the team that he's sorry for how everything went down.
Will Butcher actually be killed off? Considering there's still another season to go, we'd say it's highly unlikely, and there is also the small matter of his mysterious - and seemingly very formidable - superpower that appears to be controlled by the part of the brain that imagines his late friend Joe Kessler is speaking to him.
We also see Homelander finalize his plan to take out soon-to-be sworn-in President Singer and replace him with Victoria Neuman. Will Sister Sage turn on the leader of the Seven after being fired last week?...

This week's penultimate season 4 episode of The Boys concluded with another big reveal, although - much like last week's Joe Kessler twist - you might well have figured it out if you'd been paying close attention.
At one point during "The Insider," Butcher, Annie and Hughie encounter a Supe shapeshifter, which, of course, means that one of our heroes is going to be replaced by an evil doppelgänger at some point.
As the gang wind down at a bar after their scrap with The Deep and Black Noir, a "fan" approaches Annie and asks for a selfie. Later, Annie surprised Hughie by instigating sex while wearing her old Starlight costume, and we get confirmation that this is actually the Shifter when she steals the laptop containing all of the dirt on Victoria Neuman on it from Hughie's safe.
The episode ends with the real Annie chained up in an unknown location,...

If you've been avoiding the recent glut of Superman set photos and the spoilers they appear to have revealed, you might be a little confused by that headline!

The Top 7 Most Insane Ashley Freakouts on The Boys — Including Gen V - Main Image
Ashley Barrett's (Colby Minifie) job as Vought's CEO took a great toll on her career, but most especially on her hair. Here are the 7 best Ashley freakouts in The Boys seasons 1 to 4 — Including Gen V.
The First Sign of Trouble
Ashley may have been proud of how far she had come (from being a Director of Talent Relations to becoming Vought's CEO), but she never knew just how steep the price she had to pay to be there.
Madelyn Stillwell knew how to subdue Homelander every time he had a little breakdown from his marketing duties. Ashley, on the other hand, doesn't know a thing.
So, imagine her surprise when Homelander interrupted Victoria Neuman's campaign to clear his name. This is when it all began for her shedding. But it gets worse over time.

Antony Starr has impeccably done a pretty terrifying job at bringing Homelander — his character from The Boys — to life. So much so that he has quite easily (and rather perfectly) established himself as one of the most iconic villains of all time. But even as a villain, he has also managed to give birth to some meme material at the same time.

That said, during one of his most recent interviews for the series, he addressed one of these very viral moments that made their way to the internet as memes. And, ironically enough, Starr somewhat channeled his inner-villainous-self while doing so, making the people around him look uncomfortable at the personality he can direct so immaculately.

Will they find time to discuss the state of the U.S. Presidential Election, President Biden’s debate performance and the subsequent calls for him to exit the race and former President Trump’s own debate performance, his ties to Project 2025 and his search for a Vice President?
The Late Show will have some guests on this week that will be able to help. Tonight, the CBS show will have CNN anchor Abby Phillip on, alongside Michael Douglas and a dog adoption segment featuring Antony Starr,...

We know that The Boys is one of the most popular comic book series of all time, which is mostly due to the TV series being exceptionally popular; this, of course, increased the popularity of the comic book as well. At the same time, Marvel is one of the two biggest comic book publishers in the world, and The Boys is, in part, satirizing their work as well.
While these two have very little in common in terms of their plots and characters (aside from the fact that some of The Boys characters are parodies of Marvel’s characters), there are several people that connect the live-action adaptation of The Boys, as well as the live-action and animated adaptation of Marvel’s comic books.
