Guardians of the Galaxy became one of Marvel’s many hit films when it first came out. But the movie also might’ve been one of the riskiest superhero projects the brand did at the time.

Gunn felt like he was perfect for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie. He was used to directing many out of the box projects, and even made his own unique superhero film in Super. He asserted that Guardians aligned with most of his sensibilities as a storyteller and a fan of the genre.
“Yeah, and I’m not saying this in an egocentric way, but there did come a point when I’m like, ‘Who else would’ve made this?’ I mean, it does fit my personality perfectly,” Gunn once told Superhero Hype.

Beyoncé was apparently hit with a minor setback in her attempt to trademark her oldest child's name.
The legal battle stems from wedding planner Veronica Morales' challenge to an attempt by Beyonce -- originally filed by Jonathan Schwartz, the former vice president of Beyonce's company, Bgk Trademark Holdings, in February -- to trademark her daughter's name to launch a series of products.
Beyoncé had initially filed to trademark "Blue Ivy Carter" in 2012, weeks after her now-5 year old daughter was born. The wedding planning company Morales owns is called "Blue Ivy."

New concept art from James Gunn's highly-anticipated "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has debuted today in the pages of EW as part of their Comic Con special.
Andy Park created the art which shows off a new look at the team. The art also includes a glimpse of Pom Klementieff as Mantis along with the return of Baby Groot. Talking about the later, executive producer Jonathan Schwartz says:
"He doesn't have the wisdom and experience of that Groot. He's a younger Groot and a more rambunctious Groot. The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that's sprung up from the seed of the first Groot?"
Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell join the returning cast members in the project which wrapped filming recently in Atlanta ahead of a May 5th 2017 debut.

New Guardians Of The Galaxy additional spoiler details revealed by Production Exec. According to comicbookmovie.com, one of Marvel Studios production executives, Jonathan Schwartz, dished up some new, spoilery details about what the feel of the new "Guardians Of The Galaxy" super hero/action film will be like. It turns out that it's going to be very colorful, bright, pulpy, and more. Jonathan told them: "When James Gunn came aboard, he brought a completely unique, visual sensibility to it, harkening back to pulpy '50s science fiction. One of the things that he mentioned in his original pitch was that science fiction as we understand it has become greyer and sleeker and blacker and darker, this kind of Blade Runner world. We all love Blade Runner but that's not all that science fiction can be, so the world that you're going to see in Guardians of the Galaxy is colorful and bright and pulpy,...

As I mentioned in the preface to the first part of my Wavelengths preview (the one focusing on the short films), there are significant changes afoot in 2012. Until last year, the festival had a section known as Visions, which was the primary home for formally challenging cinema that nevertheless conformed to the basic tenets of arthouse and/or “festival” cinema (actors, scripting, 70+minute running time, and, once upon a time, 35mm presentation). This year, Wavelengths is both its former self, and it also contains the sort of work that Visions most likely would have housed. While in some respects this can seem to result in a kind of split personality for the section, it also means that Wavelengths, which has often been described as a sort of “festival within the festival,” has moved front and center. Films that would’ve occupied single slots in the older avant-Wavelengths model, like the...

As has been noted many times before, by me and others, the Wavelengths series of the Toronto International Film Festival is like a festival unto itself. So far removed from the red carpet nonsense, the deal-making, and the me-firstism of web journalists hoping to hit the Web with their initial impressions of some new Bryce Dallas Howard vehicle, Wavelengths affords breathing room to cinema and video at its most formally adventurous and, yes, uncommercial. We come here to look and listen, not to look “at” or listen “to,” and if that sounds hopelessly pretentious, come on down to the Jackman Hall and see for yourself. It’s actually quite cleansing, often funny, and a guaranteed good time, at least in part. (Short films are like the weather in my hometown of Houston, Texas. Don’t like it? Wait a moment. It’ll change.)
Sadly, Wavelengths 2011 will be the final year for series curator Andréa Picard.
