They will be judged for different skill sets that you may need for a Christmas movie. This could be everything from chopping down a tree to dancing cheek-to-cheek. This means ice skating and slow dancing. A hero of one of these movies needs to be able to chop a Christmas tree and bake cookies. The activities are endless. So are the costars. Besides their love interest, a leading man needs to be able to work with children and pets alike. Most of all, how will the judges evaluate? That is to be determined.

It may still technically be summer for a few more days, but Hallmark is ready to dive into the fall and winter holidays. The network will celebrate its 15th annual “Countdown to Christmas” programming block starting on Oct. 18.

Starting on that date, the network will premiere a total of 40 new movies, most of which will premiere on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on Hallmark Channel. These will be available to watch starting at 8 p.m. Et. New movies will also be available on Thursday at 8 p.m. on Hallmark Mystery.

Hallmark+ is also getting in on the holiday spirit. The streamer will launch seven original movies as well as four seasonal series. These include two limited holiday series — a first for the network — “Mistletoe Murders” and “Holidazed.” Based on the Audible audio series of the same name, the six-episode “Mistletoe Murders” follows a small-town shop owner with a secret and stars Sarah Drew and Peter Mooney.

The world of holiday programming continues to grow. While Hallmark Channel and Lifetime have seen major success with their “Countdown to Christmas” and “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” slates, respectively, Great American Family joined the discussion in 2021.

In June 2021, the network, originally tilted Great American Country (Gac), was acquired by Gac Media, a group formed by former Hallmark CEO Bill Abbott and Hicks Equity Partners. In the fall of that year, the network was relaunched as Gac Family.

The company today announced Jen Lilley and Jesse Hutch are set to star in Stay for Christmas, an original movie which begins production today and premieres on the network this holiday season.

The movie is part of Great American Christmas, the network’s holiday programming franchise which returns on October 21 with a new slate of original holiday movie premieres every Saturday and Sunday and Christmas movies all day and all night through the end of 2022.

Gac Media has signed Hallmark Channel staple Candace Cameron Bure to develop, produce and star in movies and TV shows for Gac Family and Gac Living, it was announced today. The Fuller House star is expected to take a prominent role in the company to help curate programming, and will develop and produce content for Gac channels through her Candy Rock Entertainment. Bure will also create year-round seasonal content for the network channels and help with the company’s annual Great American Christmas franchise.

Bure, who has headlined a slew of Christmas and other TV movies for the Hallmark Channel, is the latest Hallmark star to sign a deal with Gac Family, which is run by Bill Abbott, former CEO of Crown Media Family Networks, parent of Hallmark Channel. The second season of “The Amber Ruffin Show” will return with new episodes Feb. 25, Peacock announced Tuesday.

The critically acclaimed late-night variety series is hosted by comedian Amber Ruffin, who made history as the first Black woman to write for a late-night network TV show when she joined the writer’s room of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in 2014. Ruffin’s own show premiered in 2020, as one of the first originals for the Peacock streaming platform. Over the course of the first and second seasons for the show, Ruffin has used the show to cover breaking topics in the news cycle, including police brutality, Meghan Markle, violence against Asian Americans and the Jan. 6 Capitol riots.

“The Amber Ruffin Show” received a nomination for outstanding variety series writing at the 2021 Emmy awards. The series is produced by Universal Television and Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions, and Ruffin executive produces alongside Jenny Hagel, Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker.

Exclusive: Multi-hyphenate Jessica Lowndes has signed a four-picture deal to star in, write, direct and executive produce original films for Gac Family.

The announcement follows the weekend premiere of Harmony From The Heart, in which Lowndes starred with Jesse Metcalfe. She also wrote the original screenplay and executive produced the film.

Lowndes is also the latest Hallmark Channel alum to sign a deal with Gac Family, which is run by Bill Abbott, former CEO of Crown Media Family Networks, parent of Hallmark Channel. One of Hallmark Channel‘s go-to actresses has set her sights on a new basic cable home.

Danica McKellar, who has headlined more than a half-dozen “Countdown to Christmas” movies for Hallmark since 2015, is departing the network for a new competitor: Gac Family (fka Great American Country). Per Deadline, the Wonder Years vet has signed an exclusive deal with the cabler to star in and executive-produce four new films, beginning with The Winter Palace (premiering in January 2022).

The cast of the 90210 series has reunited. CW Seed and Entertainment Tonight have joined forces to bring the cast of the sequel show back together. Annalynne McCord, Michael Steger, Shenae Grimes, Matt Lanter, Tristan "Mack" Wilds, Trevor Donovan, Jessica Stroup, and Jessica Lowndes starred on the series which follows a new generation of students at West Beverly High School. The drama is a continuation of Beverly Hills, 90210 which aired for 10 seasons on Fox in the 1990s.

It’s been over seven years since the stars of The CW’s 90210 said good-bye to West Beverly Hills High and the gang is getting back together for a digital reunion special.

Cast members of the show, which was a spin-off of Beverly Hills, 90210, including Annalynne McCord, Michael Steger, Shenae Grimes, Matt Lanter, Tristan “Mack” Wilds, Trevor Donovan, Jessica Stroup and Jessica Lowndes will appear in Et Presents… 9021Omg! The Cast Tells All.
