It all came down to this. “Project Runway” season 20 ended on Thursday night, September 7, by deciding which returning All-Star contestant would take home the grand prize. For the first time, the final challenge was a race against time: the three remaining designers had to create their eight-look collections in just eight days — so you could think of this like eight one-day challenges all in a row. No rest for the weary. Helping to decide the winner were guest judges Zac Posen and Billy Porter. Scroll down for our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments and commentary throughout “The Finale.”

“Project Runway” judges made a mistake in deciding their final three for season 20. That’s according to the fans we polled after last week’s penultimate episode, “The Sky’s the Limit.” Scroll down to see our complete poll results.
SEERami Kashou’s ‘Project Runway’ designs, ranked worst to best
“The Sky’s the Limit” was the avant garde challenge. It brought the final four — Brittany Allen, Laurence Basse, Bishme Cromartie and Rami Kashou — to the Summit One Vanderbilt building in Manhattan where they took inspiration from the architecture of the space as well as the spectacular views of the New York City skyline.
Cromartie won the challenge for a look that used vinyl to mimic the reflective surfaces of a balloon room in the building. That earned him the first spot in the finale. Basse also got high marks from the judges for a complex architectural design that translated the geometry of buildings into a garment.

“I did use my Siriano Save on him, and I stand by my decision,” said Christian Siriano when he interviewed Rami Kashou on the “Project Runway” after show. Siriano and Kashou competed together in the fourth season of the reality competition series. Siriano won that season and has since returned to the show as a mentor. Kashou returned for season 20’s special “All-Stars” edition and was eliminated twice: in “Uncut Hems” Siriano vetoed the judges’ decision and kept Kashou around, but in “The Sky’s the Limit” Kashou was ousted for good. Watch their interview above.

The “Project Runway” designers were all smiles last week at the end of “Uncut Hems” when Christian Siriano used his Siriano Save to keep Rami Kashou in the competition, but that also comes with some bad news. Hester Sunshine was eliminated from “Project Runway” last week in episode five, “Seeing Red,” when the designers had to create looks using the same bolt of red fabric. The “Seeing Red” challenge threw the “Project Runway” designers for a loop. It ended with the elimination of Hester Sunshine, but many seemed to think Anna Zhou was the least deserving. Will the results tonight in “Like Totally ’90s” be just as contested?
Kayne Gillaspie sat down with Zhou at the end of “Seeing Red” to ask if she thought it was fair that Sunshine was eliminated for sending something new down the runway when Zhou got high marks for what he thought was a derivative design. Korto Momolu thought it was “bullshit” that Zhou had one of the judges’ favorite looks. It was all because Zhou created a dress with ruffles that her rivals thought was too reminiscent of what she created in “Toying with Fashion.”

But fashion is subjective, so it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what the judges are looking for from week to week.

What does it take to win a design challenge on “Project Runway”? That’s the question the designers face every week on the fashion competition series where one day you’re in and the next day you’re out. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so the judges’ tastes and expectations can be a moving target. But there are a few generally consistent ways you can impress the panel: be original and forward-thinking, be modern, demonstrate a clear and consistent artistic vision, and for the love of God don’t be boring. All things being equal, it’s better to be ambitious than to play it safe. Scroll down to see who met those high standards and won their challenges every week in season 20, which was a special “All-Stars” edition of the series.

‘Project Runway’ 20 episode 5 recap: The latest challenge has the designers ‘Seeing Red’ [Live Blog]
It has already been a topsy-turvy All-Stars season on “Project Runway.” The first challenge was all about redemption from past fashion sins and brought up such painful memories for one designer that he nearly self-eliminated. Then we went straight into an unconventional materials challenge where Mila Hermanovski was eliminated in a controversial result. And there was another surprise ouster in “Coronation Day” when Viktor Luna was sent home despite winning the previous challenge; our readers didn’t exactly agree with that one either. In fashion, one day you’re in and the next you’re out. That’s the guiding principle of “Project Runway,” now in its 20th season. Even in a year like this, which brings together experienced All-Star contestants from the show’s history, some outfits are bound to fail. The fashion design competition has strict time limits and no seamstresses around to help you sew, which can trip up even the most gifted artists. So who had the worst looks of the season according to judges Nina Garcia, Elaine Welteroth, and Brandon Maxwell? And did you agree with their withering criticisms? Scroll down to see each unfortunate look.
This year 14 designers went in to compete for the grand prize of $250,000, a career-changing mentorship with the Cfda (Council of Fashion Designers of America), and a feature in Elle magazine: Brittany Allen (Season 18), Prajje Oscar Jean Baptiste (Season 19), Laurence Basse (Season 15), Fabio Costa...

“Project Runway” season 20 went straight from the season premiere into the unconventional materials challenge, which always pushes the creativity of the designers to the limit. They had to create playful looks using toys bought from famous toy store Fao Schwarz. But you know what else pushes designers to their limits? A team challenge! That’s what they have to do for “Coronation Day.” Follow along below for our live blog with all the developments and commentary as they happen.

“Project Runway” returned on June 15 with a “Project Redemption!” challenge intended to rewrite history. The All-Star contestants had to take their worst looks from their respective seasons of “Runway” and reinvent them (and hopefully improve them). No rest for the weary, though, because what’s their next challenge? The always highly anticipated (for the audience) and dreaded (for the designers) unconventional materials challenge. Scroll down for our live blog with all this week’s developments and commentary as they happen.

Bravo’s Project Runway is back with its most epic competition yet. Season 20 of the fashion design competition series returns this June, and it brings together 14 beloved designers from past seasons for a high-stakes, all-star outing.
‘Project Runway’ Season 20 premieres June 15
Hundreds of designers have passed through the Project Runway workroom since the show premiered in 2004. Most end up going home empty-handed. But in the show’s landmark 20th season, which premieres June 15 on Bravo, a select group of past contestants will get another chance to prove they can make it work.
In the two-part season premiere, the designers return to the workroom to fight for one last chance to wow the judges and walk away with a career-changing win. On hand to provide guidance and support will be someone who knows exactly what they’re going through: mentor and season 4 winner Christian Siriano. Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Monday, May 8, 2023.
As the fate of the bulk of The CW's scripted series remains Tba, the network has picked up another Canadian import.
Son of a Critch is set to air on the network this summer.
The series is a coming-of-age story based on the childhood and adolescence of Canadian comedian Mark Critch.
At the beginning of the series, 11-year-old Mark is growing up in 1980s Newfoundland, where he navigates starting junior high school, making friends, and connecting with the small collection of people in his limited world.
“When I was a young kid watching American TV in the ‘80s, I never dreamed that one day my own story would be beamed back over the border,” said Mark Critch.
“Having enjoyed so many CW shows with my own family, I’m excited to invite our American friends over to ‘my house.

If it were up to us, "Project Runway" would never be "out," it would just play on a loop 24/7/365.
Sadly, Season 14 will say auf wiedersehen on Thursday, November 5th, so now seems like a good time to take stock and rank the previous 13 seasons, with the expectation that the 2015 season will probably fall somewhere in the middle of the pack once it's done. (Tim Gunn "hated" Season 14, but there have been worse.) Every season of PR is a precious, unique little rhinestone, but, like the judges, we have our favorites -- and now it's Our turn to be biased.
So here's our very subjective but still definitive worst-to-best ranking, which may only be challenged by a glare from Nina Garcia, an eye roll from Michael Kors, a "make it work" from Tim Gunn, or an "out" from Heidi Klum.
13. Season 11 (aka 'Teams')Maybe it seemed like a good, or at least dramatic,...

Now that we're headlong into an enjoyable season of Project Runway, it's time to play my favorite game: Ranking Years of Hotties. Heidi Klum's sartorial showdown may be a much different show now than when it premiered in 2004 (!), but the series' consistently hot male contestants remain a hallmark. Compare your listings with mine, gents.

His stay on season five was short-lived (only two episodes), but the unassumingly chic Wesley Nault left a favorable impression using two key items: 1) his underrated tablecloth/cups ensemble from the season-opening Gristedes challenge, and 2) his passion for wearing little shorts. Look at them. They are the littlest. And he is leggier than Juliet Prowse, thank God. After the show, he enjoyed a personal and professional partnership with fellow season five vet Daniel Feld.

Bummed Lifetime isn't have a Project Runway All-Stars reunion this Thursday?! Well have no fear -- TheInsider.com is here! We have a bonus interview with last Thursday night's big winner Mondo Guerra, one of the most beloved designers in the history of the show, where he talked fashion and life. The candid designer opened up about his winning collection, the trials and tribulations of All-Stars and his close friendship with fellow designer Michael Costello.
The Insider: You seemed to have a very intense bond with Michael Costello?
Mondo: I was so happy that Michael made it to the finale, and that we got to share that experience together. Since season eight we’ve become best friends. We’re inseparable, we’re with each other all the time, and we call each other every day. We don’t necessarily talk about the show anymore, because we’ve already finished it, so now we...

There's something surreal about picking up the phone and hearing Mondo Guerra's distinctly subdued voice pronounce my name. After all these months of watching the designer compete -- and eventually win -- on Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars," this is like a breaking of the fourth wall. As much as we know we're watching reality TV, we still think of the contestants as characters, not actual people, right?
And yet here is the season's winner Mondo Guerra in the flesh (well, via cordless phone) ready to chat about his experience on this season's show.
After narrowly losing "Project Runway" Season 8 to Portland-based designer Gretchen Jones, the quirky designer -- who famously shared his HIV positive status with the world during a poignant moment on the runway that season -- returned to fight the ultimate fashion battle against other past runners up.

Mondo Guerra's life has changed quite a bit in the past two years. The Denver-based designer finished second on Season 8 of Lifetime's "Project Runway," only to come back even stronger and win the very first "Project Runway All Stars" season.
Guerra tells Zap2it after his "All Stars" win that he's really had to step back and enjoy his success. "It's been an exciting journey coming off of Season 8 and going into 'All Stars'. It's weird to think this has all happened, both shows, in less than two years. It's a moment of reflection," he says.
Some people could've gotten burnt out from completing "Runway's" grueling, condensed, televised design process twice in a row, but not Guerra. "I would be doing it anyway," he explains. "I would be doing it for myself here in my studio. As an artist you just continue to work. Everything contributes to the big picture.

If it's the penultimate episode of a Project Runway season, you know what that means!
Filler.
In the regular season, this is the time we get to follow the finalists home, which is usually fun and interesting, but on All Stars the final three are locked up in individual work rooms and have four days to create five designs for their final showings.
This season's final twist is that the designers also have to create a sixth design using discarded fabric from the previous challenges, but they get to choose one of the castoff designers to help, so at least we get another chance to see Anthony (although I was hoping one of the guys would choose ever-sleeveless Rami).
Because this was the filler show, we don't see any of the final designs, so basically it's just set-up for next week (although we do learn that Mondo can get really,...

TheInsider.com caught up with Project Runway All-Stars' oh-so-colorful, buckets of fun designer Jerell Scott after his departure from the hit Lifetime show. From all dietary diva demands to whom he thought couldn't cut it, the candid Jerell spilled it all!
The Insider: Were you shocked to be sent home?
Jerell: It’s always a little shocking, but I definitely see the issues with my outfit. The black skirt was a little unnecessary. In my defense, going into it, had I ever designed anything for a black light? No, I hadn’t. My objective was to really control what the eye saw, but in retrospect I probably should have done it with some booty shorts or something like that, and come across a lot sexier. I know better than strappy sandals and panty hose! [laughs]

See the headline above? That was the question Joanna seemed to be asking as she made her rounds of the work room this week. It had become obvious that not everyone was up to the task of "Putin' On The Glitz."
Rami's ouster last week had everyone on edge. Although life as a Project Runway contestant continued with Austin doing Kenly's hair and Jerell commenting that, although he was shocked, everyone would have to go some time so that he could get his check at the end.
Rami was a talented designer who pushed the edge and yet one bad week sent him home.
Now the remaining designers had to create an outfit for a rich character from the Broadway show "Godspell." The winner's outfit would be worn on stage and the designer's bio would end up in the Playbill. With a $200 budget at Mood, they were off and running.

Now the remaining designers had to create an outfit for a rich character from the Broadway show "Godspell." The winner's outfit would be worn on stage and the designer's bio would end up in the Playbill. With a $200 budget at Mood, they were off and running.

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Episode 7 of Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars."
There are only seven designers left on "Project Runway All Stars" and the pressure is building ... or at least they keep telling us that.
This week's episode begins with Jerell's deep thoughts about Rami's elimination the week before (or for him probably the night before): "The fact that he's gone is a bit of a game changer," says Jerell, who quickly recovers. "Can't be mad at that because eventually they all have to go, so I can get my check." Always with the sass, that guy.
The designers meet their lovely host Angela Lindvall at Circle in the Square theater, which Austin describes as representing "the pulse of New York in Times Square." Sure. If you think the city's biggest tourist trap is its heart and soul then Time Square is definitely it.

So this week we have the "Godspell" challenge, which will allow the judges a chance to cackle as they toss out one of their few (maybe only) reliable rules (don't go costumey!) to make the designers, well, go costumey. Welcome to Upside Down World, where good is bad and bad is good and, well, that's kind of "Project Runway" every damn week. Remember, it's not fun unless somebody cries! Speaking of Upside Down World, none of the designers can believe Rami got sent home next week. Jerell is especially flummoxed, as he actually liked Rami's outfit. No one says "God knows it...

It's safe to say we weren't the only ones shocked to see Rami Kashou go last week, as witnessed by the beginning of tonight's Project Runway All Stars episode. But there was no time to grieve the loss of a great designer, because the remaining seven had to come up with something spectacular for award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz's Broadway musical Godspell. The winner would get their design featured in the show and their bio listed in the Playbill! Basically, the designers had to come up with an outfit—requiring separates since the performer will be putting on this look while onstage—for a "rich woman" character, played by Uzo Aduba. Think feathers, faux...

TheInsider.com chatted with Project Runway: All-Stars' Rami Kashou after his too-soon departure from the Lifetime show. In the exclusive interview, Rami dishes on his design philosophy, being a sex symbol, his shocking exit and whether or not he is single!
The Insider: Your being sent home was quite a shock. How do you feel about going home?
Rami: Well it’s going back to my career, so I feel blessed. Honestly, so many amazing things [that] happened in the past two weeks and before that have truly validated my work, which created a really nice balance. Naturally, it didn’t feel good that day, but I felt that it was something that was beyond my designs and beyond my power to control, and I just surrendered to it, and accepted it. I think the most important thing in a moment like that honestly is confidence and pride in my work. I stand by...

Rami Kashou
When the current roster of designers for Project Runway: All Stars was announced, one of the clear favorites was Rami Kashou. Kashou, who nearly won Season 4 of Project Runway (Christian Siriano took the prize that year), has always been a fan fave not only for his good looks but also for his even-tempered approach to the often-stressful competition and his skilled and stunningly beautiful creations. Case in point, while some of the other designers during the All Stars season have been caught up in drama (Michael Costello and Jerell Scott in their copy-cat drama in last week’s episode, for example), Kashou kept his head down and produced design after design that had him winning the first week’s competition and repeatedly earning high scores.

This week’s episode of Spartacus: Vengeance featured a lot of pretty speeches and a lot of flinging mud—holy smokes, it’s the Republican primary, only with hot guys instead of—well, instead of Republicans.
We open in Sherwood Forest, where a group of slaves are being carted off to the mines to work for the Sheriff of Nottingham (or something like that.)
In a scene straight out of Robin Hood, Spartacus and his men descend upon the carriage and make short work of the guards. Seriously, at this point, being a Roman guard is like being an Imperial Stormtrooper—maybe the 401K is great, but you’re not going to live long enough to use it. During the battle Nasir, the artist formerly known as Tiberius, stabs one of the guards from behind, which prompts Agron to lovingly quip, “Good strategy—pop the man from behind.” Oh, baby.
