Carrie Underwood is set to perform at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration next Monday, January 20th.
The former American Idol winner-turned-country music superstar will sing a rendition of “America the Beautiful” with the accompaniment of the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said in a statement. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
It’s a significant booking for the Trump’s inauguration planning committee, who struggled to secure marquee talent to perform at his first inauguration in 2017. That event ultimately featured the Radio City Rockettes and Jackie Evancho, a former America’s Got Talent runner-up.

The 2025 Grammy Awards are still set to take place on Sunday, February 2nd in Los Angeles, despite the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires that have killed at least 24 people and destroyed thousands of structures.
Over the weekend, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the Recording Academy was discussing the possibility of postponing the Grammys due to the wildfires. However, in a statement released on Monday, the Recording Academy said the Grammys “will proceed as planned.”
“This year’s show, however, will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours,” said Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and MusiCares CEO Tammy Hurt in a joint statement.

It’s Bonnaroo’s turn to unveil its 2025 lineup, and what a weird and wonderful collection of artists they’ve brought together to perform at the Manchester, Tennessee, music festival from June 12th to 15th.
Olivia Rodrigo, Tyler, the Creator, Hozier, and Luke Combs top the 2025 bill, but it’s the undercard where the magic really lies. Notable names include Queens of the Stone Age, Megadeth, Justice, Avril Lavigne, Tyla, Goose, Modest Mouse, Glass Animals, Beabadoobee, Mj Lenderman, The Lemon Twigs, Raye, Foster the People, Jpegmafia, Nelly, Jack’s Mannequin, Natasha Bedingfield, Marcus King, Royel Otis, and Mannequin Pussy. Plus, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard will be playing three (!) separate sets over the course of the weekend, and Remi Wolf will be hosting a 1970’s Pool Party-themed SuperJam. And all of that’s without mentioning Insane Clown Posse (!!), who are set to make their Bonnaroo debut. Yes, Bonnaroovians and Juggalos, together at last.

Peter Yarrow, the singer-songwriter best known for his work in the folk group Peter, Paul & Mary, whose career was later overshadowed by a conviction for molesting a 14-year-old girl, has died at the age of 86.
According to a representative, Yarrow died on Tuesday, January 7th, following a prolonged battle with bladder cancer.
Yarrow began performing while a student at Cornell University in New York. After graduating, he became immersed in the city’s fledging folk scene, eventually crossing paths with music manager Albert Grossman, who pitched him on the idea of forming a new age folk group. Yarrow was soon paired with Mary Travers and Noel Stookey to form Peter, Paul & Mary, and the trio released their eponymous debut album through Warner Brothers in 1962. Featuring songs including “Lemon Tree,” “500 Miles,” and a cover of Pete Seeger’s “If I Had a Hammer,” the album proved a mammoth hit, spending seven weeks at No.

Neil Young has reversed course and decided to play the Glastonbury Music Festival in 2025 after all.
Earlier this week, the legendary musician announced that he had pulled out of appearance at the UK festival, citing concerns that the event has taken a “corporate turn.” He cited Glastonbury’s ties to the BBC and them wanting “us to do a lot of things in a way that we were not interested in.”
However, in a new statement posted to his official website on Friday, Young explained that the information he had received was “an error” and “the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing! Hope to see you there!”
In her own statement, Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis confirmed that Young would be headlining the festival’s Pyramid stage. “What a start to the year! Neil Young is an artist who’s very close to our hearts at Glastonbury.

Alec Baldwin’s criminal case, stemming from the involuntary shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust in October 2021, is officially over after special prosecutor Kari Morrissey withdrew her appeal of a judge’s decision to dismiss the case over the summer.
According to Variety, the decision was announced on Monday, December 23rd, after the Arizona attorney general’s office said that it “did not intend to exhaustively pursue the appeal on behalf of the prosecution.”
Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer initially dismissed Baldwin’s case on July 12th after determining that prosecutor’s office had withheld crucial evidence that may have explained how live ammunition ended up on the film’s set. “The state is highly culpable for its failure to provide discovery to the defendant,” Variety reports Marlowe Sommer saying. “Dismissal with prejudice is warranted.”

Lionsgate is betting big on The Housemaid, a psychological thriller from filmmaker Paul Feig that stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.
The feature film adaptation of Freida McFadden’s best-selling novel has landed a high-profile release date of Dec. 25, 2025. The year-end holidays can be one of the most lucrative corridors of the year in terms of being able to support multiple movies in the marketplace if a title clicks with its target audience.
Next year will put that theory to the test in a major way considering that James Cameron returns to theaters with threequel Avatar: Fire and Ash (Disney). There’s also the family pic The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants (Paramount). Both of those films open on Dec. 19.
The Housemaid is an ideal property when it comes to providing something for female moviegoers.
Feig is directing from an adapted script by Rebecca Sonnenshine.

A feature-length Bluey movie is set to hit theaters in 2027.
The film will be written and directed by Bluey creator Joe Brumm, with series stars Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack returning to voice Bluey’s mum and dad, and music created by Bluey composer Joff Bush..
The movie picks up after the conclusion of Bluey’s third season in April 2024 (which we named one of the best of the year). While there are currently no plans for a fourth season, several minisodes have been released over the past six months. Creator Joe Brumm had previously expressed interest in developing a feature film based on the series—and now he’s getting his chance.
“I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on ‘The Sign’ in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that,” Brumm said in a statement. “I...

Pearl Jam covered Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike” for the first time in a decade during a concert in Sydney, Australia on Saturday.
The band had last covered the song live in October 2014 at Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit, teaming up with Temple of the Dog’s late frontman Chris Cornell. Cornell passed away in 2017, and the band hand’t played the song live since then.
Saturday’s show in Sydney marked the final date on Pearl Jam’s 2024 tour. Elsewhere in the set, frontman Eddie Vedder covered Bruce Springsteen’s “No Surrender” for the first time since 2006.
It was an eventful tour for Pearl Jam, who hit the road in support of their 2024 album, Dark Matter. They shared the stage with Bradley Cooper, covered Nine Inch Nails, trolled Ted Nugent, and were bribed by a fan into letting him join them on stage for “Yellow Ledbetter.

Paul McCartney closed out the 2024 edition of Corona Capital music festival in Mexico City on Sunday night by teaming up with Jack White and St. Vincent for a rousing finale performance of “The End.”
All three acts appeared on the Corona Capital bill on Sunday, setting the stage for collaborative performance during McCartney’s headlining set. Incredibly, it marked the first time ever that White, a self-professed Beatles fanatic, had shared the stage with McCartney. Meanwhile, St. Vincent previously collaborated with McCartney on “Woman and Wives” for 2021’s McCartney III Imagined.

After conquering the pop world for the better part of the 2024, Charli Xcx is set to transition into acting with a number of upcoming film roles, including Romain Gavras’ Sacrifice and Greg Araki’s I Want Your Sex. If there was any doubt that the UK singer has the acting chops, look no further than her debut turn as host on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, where she delivered a number of scene-stealing performances.

Pitchfork Music Festival has announced that, after 19 years of calling Chicago home, it will not host an event in the Windy City in 2025.
“As the music festival landscape continues to evolve rapidly, we have made the difficult decision not to host Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago in 2025,” organizers said in a statement on Monday.
“This decision was not made lightly. For 19 years, Pitchfork Music Festival has been a celebration of music, art, and community—a space where memories were made, voices were amplified, and the shared love of music brought us all together,” organizers added.
The Chicago iteration of Pitchfork Music Festival was the flagship event of Pitchfork’s offline events and had been touted as a major revenue driver for the company. However, Chicago has long been a competitive market for music festivals, with rivals such Lollapalooza, Riot Fest, North Coast, and Sueńos all competing for a share of...

As part of her debut appearance on Saturday Night Live, Chappell Roan debuted a brand new song called “The Giver.”
Reminiscent of late 90s-era Shania Twain with a uniquely Chappell Roan twist, “The Giver” is a Lesbian country country song about how “only a woman knows how to treat a woman right.” In fitting with the theme, she and her band dressed in Dukes of Hazzard-themed outfits and performed in front a campy background that included animated bears.
For her other performance of the evening, Chappell Roan staged a thrilling rendition of “Pink Pony Club.” At one point, she encouraged members of the studio audience to sing along with her — and they happing obliged.
Chappell Roan recently announced on Instagram that she’s ready to turn the page on The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and “welcome a hot new bombshell into the villa.” Her producer, Dan Nigro,...

Eminem is joining the campaign trail, as the legendary rapper will appear with former president Barack Obama at a rally supporting Kamala Harris in Detroit, Michigan on Tuesday night.
CNN reports that Eminem will not perform, but rather deliver remarks on the state of the 2024 presidential election. The Detroit native and grandfather-to-be has yet to explicitly endorse Harris, but it’s pretty evident who he is supporting for president given his sheer contempt for Donald Trump.
Eminem previously said a “fucking turd would have been better as a president” than Trump, and was interviewed by the US Secret Service after he dropped a diss track aimed at the former president.

What began as a town hall with Donald Trump turned into a bizarre spectacle, as the former president hosted a 30-minute listening party featuring songs from artists who have previously threatened him with legal action.
The town hall in Oaks, Pennsylvania on Monday night was repeatedly interrupted by medical emergencies, reportedly due to warm temperatures inside of the venue. Rather than continue to answer questions, Trump decided to instead play songs from his personal playlist, including Rufus Wainwright’s version of “Hallelujah,” Sinead O’Connor’s version of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond,” Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain,” and James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World.”
Also played were “Ave Maria,” “Memory” from the musical Cats, Elvis Presley’s “An American Trilogy,” Andrea Bocelli’s “Time to Say Goodbye,” and the Trump rally staple “Ymca.” As seen in clips posted to social media,...
