Penny Junor was born on 6 October 1949 in Leatherhead, Surrey, England, UK. She has been married to James Leith since 9 September 1970. They have four children.
A writer and journalist, she is the daughter of the late Sunday Express editor Sir John Junor. Her brother Roderick and son Sam Leith are also journalists. Another son, Alexander Leith is a documentary maker.
