Chicago Med opened season 10 with some big changes that included one doctor losing their job! Who got fired? Here's what happened!
Caution: This article contains Spoilers for the Chicago Med season 10 premiere
As the new season opened, the hospital was already down a doctor as Crockett had left for Boston. Ripley was still suspected of beating up Pawel and he and Hana were on a break while poor Charles had broken up with Liliana.
Gaffney Medical was dealing with how another hospital was about to close down, so they'd be getting their patients. That included a young girl with her pediatrician, Dr. John Frost (Darren Barnet). The team then got word of a boat crash at Navy Pier, meaning a mass casualty event that caused chaos. It was so wild that even Goodwin had to pitch in as a nurse.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Chicago Med Season 10 premiere “Sink or Swim.”] There’s a new (co-)boss in the Ed in Chicago Med Season 10, and she’s not going to be making friends with some moves she makes—though she doesn’t seem interested in doing so, either! In the time that’s passed since the Season 9 finale, Ripley (Luke Mitchell) has stayed quiet about what he does and doesn’t know about Pawel’s attack; Charles (Oliver Platt) and Liliana (Alet Taylor) have broken up since she thinks Ripley’s guilty of the attack; Crockett (Dominic Rains) has left for Boston; and Ripley and Hanna (Jessy Schram) are on a break (she doesn’t know if it’s “a Ross and Rachel break or a Brad and Angelina break”). A nearby hospital is closing its doors next week—but one of its docs, pediatrician John Frost (Darren Barnet), who endears himself to Maggie...

Chicago Med’s new recruit, Dr. Caitlin Lenox (series regular Sarah Ramos), didn’t waste any time ruffling feathers at the hospital in the Season 10 premiere.
When a mass-casualty accident brings an influx of patients to Gaffney, Lenox shows up for work even though she’s not scheduled to start until the following week. Goodwin doesn’t even have a chance to inform the staff about the new hire before Lenox announces that she’s heading up the Ed. Goodwin clarifies that Lenox will be co-running the department with Archer, who asks how old she is. Lenox fires back, “How old are you?...

Heading into the Chicago Med premiere, we knew it would bring the end of an era with news having broke ahead of the season’s return that Dominic Rains would be leaving the show after five seasons as a series regular.
As promised by showrunner Allen MacDonald, Dr. Marcel’s exit was handled off-screen early in the premiere as we learned that he left Chicago to move to Boston. Disappointing as it might have been to see Dr. Marcel written out of the show in the manner he was, we knew his exit was coming so it wasn’t exactly surprising. What was surprising was that his exit wasn’t the only exit the opening hour of the season brought about.
Just minutes into the season 10 premiere, Liliana broke up with Dr. Charles and we learned that she not only broke things off but had moved out of his place and transferred to another hospital.

It’s a season of change for Chicago Med, not just in front of the camera with yet another wave of casting shakeups with new faces entering the mix as another beloved favorite departs, but also behind the scenes.
After nine seasons running the show longtime showrunners Andy Schneider and Diane Frovlov, have handed over the reins to Allen MacDonald who is looking to build upon the strong foundation already in place, while shaking things up to keep things fresh as the show enters its tenth season.
As part of the shakeups ahead is the looming departure of yet another long-time member of the cast, whose exit comes as the show prepares to welcome a few new faces to the mix as well as part of a new storyline that promises to pave the way for many exciting stories to come.

Chicago Med's milestone season is set to make its debut Wednesday, Sept. 25 but this tenth outing is going to be without Dominic Rains as Dr. Crockett Marcel.
Fans have been preparing for Rains' departure since news broke that he would no longer be a series regular on the medical drama. However, the hope was that he'd get some kind of send-off that would be satisfactory to viewers. It doesn't seem like that's going to be the case.
In an interview with One Chicago Center, showrunner Allen MacDonald shared, "Dominic does not return at the top of season 10 and we explain his departure to you pretty quickly."
What does that mean? Well, in true procedural fashion, Crockett's departure will likely get explained in a line or two of dialogue, or perhaps at least a conversation between characters. We've seen this happen time and again. MacDonald's explanation for this writing...

When Chicago Med returns for its tenth season on Sept. 25, it’ll do so without a beloved member of the cast. Ahead of the show’s season 10 premiere, One Chicago Center can confirm that Dominic Rains will not be returning in the season opener with Rains’ exit set to instead take place off-screen.
“Dominic does not return at the top of season 10 and we explain his departure to you pretty quickly,” Chicago Med’s new showrunner Allen MacDonald shared of the plans for handling Rains’ exit from the series after five seasons playing Dr. Crockett Marcel.
“The reason I decided to do that was just simply I felt that Dr. Crockett Marcel had already been written out at the end of last season," MacDonald elaborated on the decision for Crockett’s exit to unfold off-screen rather than with an on-screen sendoff in the season 10 premiere. Chicago Med, like all NBC shows, had a shortened season 9 due to the Hollywood strikes. It did wrap up in May and season 10 should restore it to its usual 22 episode length. The finale had some big turns so here’s what to remember before season 10 hits and what to expect in the new year!
What happened in the Chicago Med season 9 finale?
Riley and Charles argued over a mentally ill patient, with Charles still distracted by how his girlfriend Liliana’s brother Pawel launched an obviously fraudulent lawsuit against the hospital. Goodwin finally accepted her father Burt was too mentally infirm to remain at home and put him into an assisted living facility. Archer took on a recovering drug addict who’d relapsed, which brought up some bad memories while Maggie and Dr. Johnson were getting closer.
The bigger turn was Crockett distress when a man committed suicide after the...

I always think of my other favorite fictional Chicago doctor when Chicago Med‘s Crockett Marcel is on screen.
The news that Marcel is leaving Med is heartbreaking, but I’ve been there before, in 1996 when Mandy Patinkin’s Jeffrey Geiger left Chicago Hope.
The two characters have a lot more in common than both working for fictional Chicago hospitals, including similar tragedies in their pasts that drove less than desirable behavior during their early episodes.

Mandy Patinkin’s Jeffrey Geiger Was A More Over-The-Top Version of Crockett Marcel He Did Things Marcel Would Never Dream Of, But For Similar Reasons

On Sept. 16, 1984, the Anthony Yerkovich-created series Miami Vice premiered on NBC and went on to revolutionize television with its ultra-stylized visuals, cutting-edge MTV-era music and unconventional fashion highlighting the riveting weekly adventures of hard-bitten undercover detectives. “The ambition of the show was to break the form of everything that had come before,” the series’ executive producer Michael Mann tells THR.
In the Casablanca of ’80s Miami, boat-dwelling Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) and suave New Yorker Ricardo Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) drove luxury cars, averted explosions and busted drug lords in bold and unexpected designer outfits. Crockett’s jacket-over-t-shirt signature triggered a paradigm shift in the traditional concept of menswear, which endures 40 years later. “It changed the way men dressed in the world,” says Emmy-nominated season one costume designer Jodie Tillen. “It gave men permission to wear pastels.”
Today, its slouchy silhouettes and soft colors are heavily influencing men on the red carpet.

More changes are coming to NBC’s One Chicago shows. Dominic Rains will not return to Chicago Med for its upcoming 10th season.
Dominic Rains exits ‘Chicago Med’ ahead of season 10 (L-r) Dominic Rains as Dr. Crockett Marcel, S. Epatha Merkerson as Sharon Goodwin, Marlyne Barrett as Maggie Lockwood in ‘Chicago Med’ | George Burns Jr/NBC
Rains joined Chicago Med in season 5 as Dr. Crockett Marcel. He will not return as a series regular in season 10, Deadline reported. It’s not known if Rains might make a guest appearance next season. On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that American presidents have “absolute immunity” from prosecution for any “official acts” they take while in office. For President Joe Biden, this should be great news. Suddenly a host of previously unthinkable options have opened up to him: He could dispatch Seal Team 6 to Mar-a-Lago with orders to neutralize the “primary threat to freedom and democracy” in the United States. He could issue an edict that all digital or physical evidence of his debate performance last week be destroyed. Or he could just use this chilling partisan decision,...

On September 16, 1984, a little TV show named Miami Vice hit cable and was a huge success for NBC. It was created by Anthony Yerkovich and produced by an up-and-coming filmmaker named Michael Mann. The show would become iconic for its stylish depiction of the Miami drug scene, its use of contemporary music and its distinctive fashion. Years later, in 2006, a movie that has gone down as very divisive would be made. It’s a movie that defines what it means to be revisited. So today, let’s check out Michael Mann’s film adaptation of Miami Vice.
As stated earlier, Michael Mann helped create the captivating TV show. During the 1980s and 90s, Michael would go on to make some of the greatest films of the era, including Heat (which is getting a sequel soon), The Insider, The Last of the Mohicans, and Manhunter. In 2001, after wrapping his biopic Ali,...

Dominic Rains is leaving the cast of “Chicago Med.”
Rains has starred in the NBC medical drama since Season 5, when he began playing Crockett Marcel, a skilled doctor from New Orleans who leads the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center’s 2.0 surgical suite.
Though Rains is confirmed to have exited as a series regular, it is not yet known if he will reprise the role in a guest capacity.
The news comes after the Season 9 finale aired on May 22 and hinted at a goodbye for Crockett, who loses a young patient named Colin after making the decision not to operate on him, leading Colin’s father to commit suicide. On Thursday, Jimmy Kimmel and Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) recalled Crockett’s feud with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) last month.
Crockett went viral in May after saying Greene had a “bleach blonde bad-built butch body” at a televised hearing. She was responding to Greene’s comment insulting the Democrat’s “fake eyelashes.”
“Can you tell us what led up to that?” Kimmel asked. “Was there anything that we didn’t see that precipitated that?”
“No, it’s just that Marjorie is a little slow,” Crockett said. “What more people don’t know is that on this particular day, we were supposed to have our hearing at 11 a.m… instead, it wasn’t until 8 p.m.”
Crockett said the hearing was delayed because Greene and a few other Republicans were in Manhattan for Donald Trump’s hush money trial.
“So we had to wait for them to come back,” Crockett said.

Congressman Jamie Raskin’s office is busy. It’s the summer interns’ first day, one staffer explains. Constituents and aides flutter in and out of the small lobby, somehow still spacious considering the generally cramped conditions the House’s quarters are renowned for. Everyone is watching the clock, everything is running a little behind schedule.
Raskin himself seems unfazed. The four-term Democratic representative from Maryland has seen it all before. When we sit down in the comparatively quiet sanctum of his office — which doubles as a central meeting room — he’s the picture of relaxation.

After having her body insulted during a House hearing earlier this month, controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) got her revenge on Monday by posting a flattering bikini shot to mark her 50th birthday.
“From being the first person to graduate college in my family, to carrying three babies in my womb and the absolute miracle of 3 childbirths, to raising my children and teaching them about God’s creation and man’s dangers, to running successful businesses and carrying the weight of the responsibility, being a member of Congress, running, cycling, swimming, competing, training, reading, always learning, creating, building, skiing, surfing, hiking, making mistakes, learning lessons, and most importantly God’s grace that I don’t deserve but am thankful for beyond words, my 50 years have been an incredible journey that I’m thrilled to be on,” Greene wrote in her post.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) and Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) got into a heated exchange at Thursday’s House Oversight meeting. The meeting focused on GOP efforts to hold U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress. Garland refuses to release audio recordings of President Joe Biden‘s interview with special counsel Robert Hur.
The conversation veered when Greene tried to connect Democrats to Judge Juan Merchan overseeing former President Donald Trump‘s hush-money trial. Greene also asked if any Democrats employed Merchan’s daughter, a specific attack that led to Trump’s gag order. Trump previously took to Truth Social to insult Merchan’s daughter, claiming she worked for “Crooked Joe Biden.”
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) jumped in on Greene’s rant. “Please tell me what that has to do with Merrick Garland?” Crockett questioned. “Do you know what we’re here for? You know we’re here about Ag Garland?...

Rep. Jasmine Crockett has zero regrets about her heated exchange with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene during a House committee hearing last week, telling CNN that Greene’s insult about Crockett’s appearance was “absolutely” racist.
“Do you think her going after your eyelashes, that that, in itself, is racist?” State of the Union host Jake Tapper asked Crockett on Sunday.
“I think her specifically doing it to me, yes, that was the intent,” Crockett said. “Women wear makeup, we wear lashes, we wear all types of things to beautify ourselves.

C-span coverage of Congress turned into a Jerry Springer-like spectacle of name-calling and insults on Thursday, as a verbal jab lobbed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-ga) triggered an extended period of outcry from several Democrats on the House Oversight Committee.
The purpose of the hearing was to consider whether to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt, a polarizing proposal that quickly made the proceedings raucous. But things got especially chaotic after Greene took a swipe at Rep. Jasmine Crockett over her “fake eyelashes.”
Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-ny) then stepped in to protest Greene’s remarks, telling her, “How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person.”
Greene responded, “Are your feelings hurt?”
“Oh, girl. Baby girl. Don’t even play,” Ocasio-Cortez responded.
Greene said that she would strike her words, but she declined to apologize.
