Laurent King is a Eurasian-American director and writer.
A graduate of FAMU Film School in Prague and Parsons School of Arts, he holds an MA from The American University in Washington, DC. He started in advertising, repped by companies like Bandits, Quad or P.I.G. China where his work for clients such as Perrier, BMW, Levi's, Martell, Canal+ was awarded with Cannes Lions, Clios, FWAs, Mobius and Eurobest awards. His first foray in narrative brought him to work with Roman Coppola as second unit cinematographer on Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. He also served as second/action unit on French thrillers The Prey and hit TV Show Braquo.
He directed the short film Somebody Else, entirely shot in Shanghai, which won Best International Short at the Almagro Intl Film Festival after being officially selected at ShortShortz (Tokyo), Interfilm (Berlin), Ødense (Denmark), Rhode Island (US) festivals. His feature length project INK has won multiple awards worldwide and is visible on Amazon Prime in North America.
