Laura Linney, Ben Semanoff and Justin Kurzel have all signed on to direct multiple episodes of the upcoming Netflix limited series “Black Rabbit.”

The trio will each direct two episodes of the series, which was picked up at Netflix in March. It will mark a reunion for Linney and “Black Rabbit” co-lead Jason Bateman, who previously starred as Wendy and Marty Byrde in the Netflix crime drama “Ozark” for four seasons. Semanoff also directed episodes of “Ozark.” Jude Law will also star in “Black Rabbit.” Law, Kurzel, and “Black Rabbit” co-creator Zach Baylin have also collaborated on the upcoming true crime film “The Order.”

Bateman and Law will play brothers in Black Rabbit. Law’s character, Jake, is the owner of a New York hotspot, and when he lets his turbulent brother (Bateman) back into his life, he opens the door to escalating dangers that that threaten everything he’s built.

Among those dangers, based on descriptions for some of the new castmembers, is the criminal underworld.

Música is a “non-musical musical” coming-of-age romantic comedy film co-written and directed by Rudy Mancuso. Based on his personal experiences, the Prime Video film follows the story of a young college student Rudy, who is about to graduate but still doesn’t if he should get a stable job or go after his dream of becoming a puppeteer. He finds himself stuck in a love triangle between his long-time girlfriend who doesn’t understand him and his dreams and a girl he recently met who seems to support his dreams, while also dealing with his overbearing mother who wants him to get himself a Brazilian girlfriend. Anna Kendrick’s very first movie was in 2003’s Camp, when she was a teenager. She later received an Oscar nomination for her role as Natalie Keener in the 2009 film, Up in the Air.

The actor then became a household name with the Pitch Perfect series of musical movies and had a hit song from the movie “Cups (When I’m Gone).”

There is perhaps no universe in which a true story that combines murder, money and scantily clad men is not going to be at least a little bit interesting, so Hulu’s Welcome to Chippendales has that going for it.

Also in its favor is an apparently generous budget to recreate the tale’s cocaine-fueled 1980s setting, through lavish sets, carefully curated costumes and an all-bangers soundtrack (Abba, Queen, Kiss). Then there’s the undeniably talented cast — led by Kumail Nanjiani — each of whom get the opportunity to show off what they can do with a meaningful gaze, a twitch of the cheek, a trace of hysteria in an otherwise measured voice.

The Chippendales are strip-teasing their way to Hulu.

“Welcome to Chippendales,” the streamer’s eight-episode upcoming limited series based on the story of Chippendales founder Somen “Steve” Banerjee, stars Kumail Nanjiani in a story of dark comedy and crime. It follows Banerjee’s journey as an Indian-American immigrant creating the wildly popular male revue show known as Chippendales.

The upcoming series also stars Spencer Boldman as Lance McCrae, who is described as “the ultimate specimen” and the hottest Chippendales dancer of them all. Murray Bartlett of “White Lotus” fame also stars in the series as choreographer Nick De Noia. In the first teaser trailer for the show arriving on Hulu on Nov. 22, Kumail Nanjiani stars as the socially awkward male-stripping empire founder who would do anything to defend his territory. The clip is soundtracked by Journey’s “Any Way You Want It.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Tuesday that it is inviting 397 artists and executives to join the Oscar organizer’s membership ranks. The prospective 2022 class includes 71 Oscar nominees and 15 winners, with 44 of the invitees women, and 37 of the group belongs to underrepresented communities.

Among this year’s Oscar winners on the list are Ariana DeBose and Troy Kotsur, and Kotsur’s Coda writer-director Siân Heder, who has been invited into both the Directors and Writers branches. Among those invited into multiple branches, the new member must pick one. There are a total of 17 AMPAS branches, along with 25 who today received members-at-large invitations.

Every summer, when the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invites new members, publicists scramble to update their lists. In the past seven years since #OscarsSoWhite, the Academy membership ranks have burgeoned dramatically, adding more young, diverse, and international members. As the Academy has sought to meet its diversity goals, the organization has swelled its ranks since 2015 from 6,446 to 10,665 total members (including Emeritus), if all the 2022 invitees accept membership, and the number of voting members to 9,665.

In the past two years, though, the pace has slowed, since the Academy met its goal of doubling the number of women and people of color in its membership. Instead of 819 new invites going out in 2020, the 2022 invites are just 397, a sign that the Academy is continuing to pull back on its 10 percent growth rate surge, and that the number of qualified experienced industry professionals has limits.

Four people were invited by two different branches, and must choose which branch they wish to join. Hamaguchi, Heder and Pawo Choyning Dorji were invited by both the Directors and Writers Branches, while Rasmussen was invited by the Directors Branch and the Documentary Branch.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 397 members of the global film community to join the organization, it was announced Tuesday.

Among those who will henceforth be able to vote for the Oscar nominations and winners if they accept, as the vast majority of people who have received invites historically have: newly-minted Oscar winners Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell (music branch) and Ariana DeBose and Troy Kotsur (actors); Paramount chief Brian Robbins and Disney general entertainment chief Dana Walden (executives); and film critic Leonard Maltin (members-at-large).

According to an Academy-provided breakdown of the new invitees, 44 percent are women, 37 percent are non-white and 50 percent are non-Americans (54 different countries are represented). If they all accept, the Academy’s overall membership will be 34 percent female, 19 percent non-white and 23 percent non-American.

Everything was beautiful; from the sets, the performances, and even the cheesy cameos of literally every Broadway star living,

The choreography used was nothing to laugh at, and for Garfield, who has never done a musical before, could not have been easy.

But he, along with the rest of the cast, performed some incredible dances and musical numbers.

Garfield's singing voice also surprised, as he's never shown off his vocal chops until this film.
