Jagath Chamila

Jagath Chamila is a Sri Lankan actor who has a born talent in adapting
to roles he performs, and this has made him one of the most outstanding
actors Sri Lanka has produced,in all three formats of acting; Stage
drama, tele drama and cinema.
The school drama teacher at Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa, Mr. Thissa Gunawardene, became his mentor, and after recognizing Jagath's true potential, he selected the young actor for school plays in national level as well. After first taking part in "Samanala Kanda" at school in 1986, Jagath was able to obtain the best actor award in the inter school drama competition from 1990-1992 consecutively.
After first starring in Guru Gedara by Wijaya Dharma Sri in 1992, he has demonstrated his acting talents in a variety of tele dramas, stage dramas and movies, and has bagged a number of Awards along his career.
His recent achievement was the nomination for the Best actor in a Leading role at the New York City International Film Festival (N.Y.C.I.F.F.)2013. The award ceremony is to be held on the 20th of June 2013.
