Steven Tyler doesn’t want to miss a thing, so he’s reuniting Aerosmith for his 6th annual Grammys viewing party.
They’ll be joined by A-listers like Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Linda Perry, Matt Sorum, Nuno Bettencourt, and Lainey Wilson for the philanthropic event on Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Hollywood Palladium. Tiffany Haddish will serve as host. (See Gold Derby’s Grammy predictions.)
Aerosmith announced its retirement from touring in 2024 after Tyler fractured his larynx the year prior. The four-time Grammy-winning rock band consists of lead vocalist Tyler, bassist Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarists Perry and Brad Whitford. This will mark Aerosmith’s first time performing together since Sept. 9, 2023.
As usual, Tyler’s Grammys viewing party is sponsored by Janie’s Fund, the initiative he created in order to bring hope and healing to girls and young women who have experienced trauma. More than...

Members of R.E.M., The Black Crowes, and Screaming Trees have formed a new supergroup, Silverlites, alongside singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur. The band’s first single “Don’t Go, Don’t Stay” is out now ahead of the November 15th release of its self-titled debut album.
The project features Arthur on lead vocals alongside R.E.M.’s Peter Buck on acoustic guitars, The Black Crowes’ Rich Robinson on acoustic and electric guitars, and Barrett Martin on drums, upright bass, vibraphone, and backing vocals.
“Don’t Go, Don’t Stay” introduces the Silverlites’ roots-rock sound, as Arthur sings over organic instrumentation from Buck, Robinson, and Martin — the latter of whom recorded the initial acoustic guitar tracks in a Nashville hotel room in 2019.
“We hope you like the songs, as we spent the pandemic years doing various recording and mixing sessions,” wrote Martin on Instagram, “and we used a classic songwriting form, which...

The Black Crowes were set to support Aerosmith on the latter’s farewell tour this fall, but those plans were scrapped earlier this month when Aerosmith suddenly retired from touring due to singer Steven Tyler’s vocal injury. With a major hole to fill, the Black Crowes have mapped out a full headlining North American tour of their own.
As it stood, the Black Crowes were slated to play a number of headlining shows during their off days from the Aerosmith outing. In order to create a sensible itinerary, many of those gigs have been rescheduled, while a few have been canceled, and several new cities have been added. The extensive 33-date tour kicks off September 27th in Northfield, Ohio, and runs all the way through a two-night stand in Port Chester, New York, on December 21st and 22nd.

The Black Crowes have begun their extensive tour in support of their highly anticipated upcoming album, Happiness Bastards.
Spanning nearly three dozen dates, the tour will kick off with a performance in Nashville in early April and is currently scheduled to culminate on June 9 with an appearance at a festival in Spain.
Happiness Bastards will mark The Black Crowes’ 10th studio album and their first collection of new music in 15 years. Their previous album, Before the Frost … Until the Freeze, showcased live recordings of new material performed in front of a live audience. Since then, they have released an album that featured reimagined renditions of their older tracks and an EP comprised of songs from 1972.

The Black Crowes have dropped a new music video for, “Wanting and Waiting,” the first single from the rock outfit’s first album in 15 years, Happiness Bastards, out March 15.
Directed by Christopher Acosta, the visual matches the punchy rock and roll energy of “Wanting and Waiting.” It pairs a spirited performance with an overlay of animation — illustrated lyrics, skulls, and of course a murder of crows in full flight as the Black Crowes rip through “Wanting and Waiting.”

The Black Crowes have announced their first new album of original material in 15 years. The LP, titled Happiness Bastards, will arrive on March 15th via the band’s own Silver Arrow Records. In advance of the set, they’ve released a new song “Wanting and Waiting” (listen below).
Happiness Bastards marks The Black Crowes’ first album of completely original material since 2009’s Before the Frost…Until the Freeze. Between studio albums, the band released 1972 in 2022, a collection of cover songs.
Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson reunited The Black Crowes in 2019, and 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of the band’s start.
“The Robinson Brothers are claiming this momentous year as their own,” a press release states. “Following decades marked by sex, drugs, fights, breakups, and divorce, they are leaving their bulls**t behind. Led Zeppelin’s influence on musicians that followed them showed up in interesting ways. He seemingly alienated Jimmy Page on tour, but Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson also defended Page from those who said he played sloppy. For Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, his mastery of a Led Zeppelin outtake told him he was ready to record music again after a low point in his life.
Led Zeppelin’s ‘I Can’t Quit You Baby’ outtake inspired John Frusciante to make music again
The Chili Peppers’ rocket ride to fame with their 1991 album Blood Sugar Sex Magik didn’t sit well with Frusciante. He felt uncomfortable with the adoration and used drugs to cope. The guitarist left the band but continued using drugs. In time, he couldn’t live his life without heroin.

Jimmy Page won over millions of fans with his guitar playing in Led Zeppelin. The incredible riffs, great guitar solos, and stylistic diversity helped the band’s music stand the test of time. A knock on Page was that his playing was too sloppy to be considered great. For anyone making that claim, The Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson has some choice words.
Was Jimmy Page a sloppy guitar player? Rich Robinson says ‘f*** that,’ and he would know
It seems like an absurd classic rock take, but some music fans believe Page’s playing in Led Zeppelin was too sloppy to be considered great. They seem to ignore the passion and emotion behind the playing and judge him only on technical skill.
Rich Robinson, the guitar player for The Black Crowes, isn’t having it.

Kanye West revealed that he has asked former US president Donald Trump to be his “running mate” for the 2024 presidential elections.
In a tweet shared on Wednesday (23 November), the 45-year-old rapper said he visited Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort for the first time.
“First time at Mar-a-Lago,” wrote West, who legally changed his name to Ye. “Rain and traffic. Can’t believe I kept President Trump waiting. And I had on jeans.
“What you guys think [Trump’s] response was when I asked him to be my running mate in 2024?” Ye, who ran for office in 2020, added.
A separate report suggested West had travelled to Mar-a-Lago with white nationalist Nick Fuentes, who marched at the 2017 ‘Unite the Right’ rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, at which a neo-Nazi drove his car into counter-protesters, killing one woman and injured dozens more.

A fifth woman has made misconduct allegations against Win Butler, the frontman of indie rock group Arcade Fire.
Earlier this year, four other women came forward with claims of sexual misconduct against Butler, 42, citing incidents that allegedly took place between 2016 and 2020.
In a statement at the time, Butler denied all claims of misconduct, stating that he was “very sorry to anyone who I have hurt with my behaviour” but that “these relationships were all consensual”.
“I f***ed up, and while not an excuse, I will continue to look forward and heal what can be healed, and learn from past experiences,” he said.
Now, a fifth woman, indentified by the pseudonym Sabina, has told Pitchfork magazine that she had a “toxic” relationship with Butler that lasted three years.
Butler has been married to the musician and Arcade Fire bandmate Régine Chassagne since 2003.

The Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson removed a man from the stage at a gig after he was seen being chased around by security.
The “Hard to Handle” band were performing at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne, Australia on Sunday (20 November) when the incident took place.
In a moment caught on video, the man appeared alongside the band during the song “Stare It Cold”.
He was chased by security, who tried to push him off the stage, but it was only when guitarist Robinson shoved him with his guitar that the man jumped down.
Robinson was met with gasps and cheers from the crowd as the song came to a halt.
Singer Chris Robinson could be seen shouting at the stage invader from the audience.
“Hey, you throw that motherf***er out, right,” he said into the microphone. “You get the f*** out of here.” The band then restarted the song.

Twelve years after releasing the acoustic album Croweology, with a nasty break-up and an unexpected reunion in between, the Black Crowes are finally dropping new music — sort of. “New recordings, old music,” frontman Chris Robinson says with a laugh. He’s referring to 1972, a collection of six freshly recorded cover songs from that year, which will be available exclusively on Amazon Music on May 4. The first single, a sleek version of the Temptations’ “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” is out now.

Set for a February 26th release, the package arrives in multiple formats, including a “super deluxe” edition with unreleased songs, demos, and a raucous concert recording from the band’s early days that finds singer Chris Robinson breaking up a crowd fight mid-song.

In Hong Kong, the street protests have adopted a new anthem to fuel passions, while on the domestic front, President Donald Trump managed to get into a dust-up with the Prince estate. He also found time to put down “little” Bruce Springsteen and let the world know that he didn’t need any music superstars to appear at his rallies in order to draw a crowd (perhaps disappointing Lee Greenwood and Toby Keith).
This week in music:
The Prince And The President: Prince’s estate was miffed at President Donald Trump this week for playing Purple Rain at his Minneapolis rally. Trump’s attorneys previously promised that they would not use Prince’s music in connection with the campaign activities. It was unlikely that Trump had anything to do with the music selection at the rally,...

As the drummer for the Black Crowes for 27 years, Steve Gorman has seen some shit. He recounts a lot of it in his new book Hard to Handle: The Life & Death of the Black Crowes — A Memoir, a backstage tell-all that features more than a few fights between brothers Chris and Rich Robinson.
“‘You’re gonna have to write the book, man.’ That’s something everybody would say to me,” says Gorman, sipping a coffee in a popular Nashville breakfast spot. “And what I said for 25 years was, ‘Well, I would,...

Sitting shoulder to shoulder on high stools, in front of a handful of microphones at Electric Lady Studios in New York, singer Chris and guitarist Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes look nothing like kin and act even less like bandmates.
The Georgia-born brothers are recording a dozen numbers as a duo, unplugged, a few weeks before the release of their band’s new album, Warpaint, on the Crowes’ own Silver Arrow label. Eleven tracks of brawny Southern rock and psychedelic

In today’s film news roundup, “Roma” will not be in the best picture showcases at AMC and Regal, “Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church” gets a release and SAG-AFTRA’s David White has a new appointment.
‘Roma’ Spurned
AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas are leaving Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma” out of their upcoming annual showings of the contenders for the Academy Award for best picture.
Both chains made the announcement Tuesday after “Roma” was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and indicated that the rationale stems from their refusal to book Neflix’s titles, due to the Netflix policy of ignoring the traditional 90-day window between initial theatrical release and home release. In the case of “Roma,” Netflix debuted the movie on Nov. 21 and began streaming the film on Dec. 14.
